Celtic interims report turnover up

571

Celtic published a decent set of interim results this afternoon for the 6 months to 31 December 2015 but chairman, Ian Bankier’s address gets down to business with, “One the park, it has been a frustrating season”.

The sale of Virgil van Dijk contributed to a £12.6m income for player trading, balanced by £6.1m spent on the acquisition of Jozo Simunovic, Scott Allan, Saidy Janko Ryan Christie and Nadir Ciftci. This brought pre-tax profit to £11.7m, with cash in the bank at £7.7m (up from £5.3m a year earlier).

Turnover was up by an inch to £31.4m as the club traded at an operating profit for the period of £1.564m (before player trading). The second half of the year is devoid of European football income, not that the Europa League is that much of a game changer.

I know financial stability isn’t an end in itself, but it’s important nonetheless.

  1. Noticed that Scotstoun stadium is getting surfaced with a state of the art 3g pitch at a cost of £550,000…correct me if I’m wrong, wasn’t there rumours abound a while ago the huns would maybe start using it due to the cost of running their own?

    Ach, I’m paranoid.

  2. Celtic line up new Sponsor for next season

THE betting company are looking to replace Magners as Celtic’s main sponsors with a deal expected to be the biggest in Scottish football.

Peter Lawwell could be about to oversee a huge sponsorship deal

DAFABET are lining-up a big-money deal to become Celtic’s main shirt sponsors.

Currently a betting partner of the Parkhead club, the company are ready to secure the biggest agreement of its kind in Scottish football.

Celtic signed a three-year contract at the beginning of the 2013-14 season for Magners to be on the front of the shirts but Dafabet are set to take over for 2016-17.

Founded in 2004, Dafabet have moved increasingly into the football market in recent years having initially signed up England international Alan Shearer as Asian Sports Ambassador five years ago.

Everton and West Brom became partners as they also took a higher profile with sponsorships deals in other sports such as snooker, where they backed the World Championship Finals at the Crucible in Sheffield.

Dafabet stepped it up again this season and became main shirt sponsors of Sunderland in the English Premier League and Blackburn Rovers in the English Championship.

Now Celtic are on that radar as they continue to branch out and grow and Record Sport understands a long-term deal for as much as five years is on the agenda.

Parkhead chiefs secured a five-year stint with Dafabet last summer which made them the club’s official international betting partner.

Tellingly at the time, John Cruces, Head of Sports Marketing and Sponsorship at Dafabet, said: “No matter where you go around the world, you always see a Celtic shirt such is their worldwide support.”

Dafabet are now hoping to see their name splashed across those aforementioned shirts around the globe.

Magners could still extend their association in some way due to the new SPFL short-sponsorship rules introduced this term.

Clubs have been given the option of an extra ad space to sell on the their shirts for sponsors logos from the start of next season.

Currently the 42 SPFL clubs can sell the front of the team shirt and a space above the player’s number on the back of the shirt.

The third space will be on the back of the shirt below the player’s number, leaving a door ajar.

In their 13-year existence, Dafabet has become a significant investor and operator in the online gaming industry with a proven track record offering sports book services that covers over 5,000 live events from across the world on a weekly basis as well as a wide variety of the most popular and enjoyable casino games and promotions on the web.

Going along to celtic park – not anywhere near happy with some aspects of our play. … but really pissed off at the attacks by the media including ex players.

Really hope the bhoys play the way we know they can and not only win but give a solid performance too

And if we go a goal behind or drawing a5 half time I hope the “supporters ” support the team

Does anyone know for sure that mags doesn’t have dark skin. . Apparently it’s ok then to use that word everyone’s up in arms about .

Racism is wrong and can never be defended, however I have stated many times that equality should be the fundemential criteria in how we treat people, Nothing, no creed, no doctrine should supersede that in my opinion.

While categorically stating racism is unacceptable, the biggest increase of racist incidents in Scotland is against our English population. It is at record levels. On CQN : Do we treat this racism with the same seriousness as we do against other ethnic minorities.? I think not.

It could even be said in some circumstances that it is tolerated, acceptable and possibly encouraged.

Caucasism targeting Caucasian is still racism in my opinion or are we blinded by colour ?

    Selective Equality is not equality.

    Hail, Hail. COYBIG.

    Good point,mate.

I’ve spent most of my adult life in England and only twice been racially abused because of being Scottish.

First time was in South Shields, and although I ignored it,he continued until I could no longer do so.

Second time in London, where it was actually my girlfriend getting it for going out with me! I could understand that were the reason given not me being Scottish.

Apart from that, never a problem. But,like you,I’ve witnessed many Scottish welcomes to our neighbours.

That was Mags brother Morrisey and his partner at the KSC question and answer night.

Stephbhoy at back of 12 last night, very good, and in agreement with analysis, not with the choice of all the players though :-)

I do believe the size of the squad through our scatter gun approach to signings is a major problem and costing us a fortune, downsizing should start there, and then target better quality with what is left for player turnover.

I would have no problem as Cultsbhoy suggest in supplementing the main squad of 24 players with our talented youth

    Right COYBIG today :-)

  10. Meanwhile in other news we are apparently frustrated at making an £11million 6 month profit & Big PL has been over in Europe on Thursday giving KHR a kick in the ass over his comments regards The Champions League. Both men are members of the Board of the European Clubs Association KHR being Chairman

  11. Looks cold outside, will be wrapping up well for the game, nervous as f@@k really desperate to see a good performance today but really worried about our midfield and defence for me aBoyata should be left out for the rest of the season the guy is scared of his own shadow. The other question is will there be more Celtic midfielders in the stand than ross county fans?

Will be able to analyse the game today as will there will be no drink as part of the trade off for my wife coming to Celtic Park for Valintines day was we take the car and I drive.

  13. The Care Commission Inspectors are to look at facebook for negative comments about the NHS in a new initiative to expedite complaints & spot problems sooner which will lead to faster intervention

“In other words our funding has been cut by half” & problems in the the NHS will gradually deteriorate in line with Government policy

  14. Cowiebhoy I believe Ronnie said he would operate with a small squad and supplement with young players al he has done is sign more and more players but crucially not what we are really crying out for a solis hard holding midfield player and a decent forward we are 2 injuries away from disaster Griff and Brown

they’ll be busy with that, cant see that lasting, NHS will need to hire someone at each hospital and organisation to deal with these type of complaints non stop

Seen your post yesterday on the big clubs starting there own league. Very interesting read.

UEFA/FIFA will obviously say any player couldn’t play in European or World cup.

Personally would go further banning any player that plays in the breakaway league from ever playing for in any team under these organizations.

Very small window for your career if you can only play for 20 clubs.

Imagine a European League where teams could apply for initial membership. Perhaps 120 clubs would apply and be eligible. 6 leagues of 20 teams would be formed with promotion and relegation each year. Celtic are currently ranked 51 so would be in Division 3 assuming the 50 clubs higher ranked took part.

    http://www.uefa.com/memberassociations/uefarankings/club/

Have a look at our potential opponents Or we could play Hamilton Ross County and Kilmarnock. A playoff system at season end could mean the bottom six teams in league six play six teams that want to play with the big boys. It would be the end of national football and the beginning of European football.

  19. Going along today to support the Bhoys as always, with hope in my heart for a much improved performance, a starting place for Scott Allan as well as a win, not too much to ask.

  24. Celtic fans some of whom will make their way to Parkhead today have critiqued the various Ronny signings in the past 18 months, sometimes before the ink was dry on the contract. None of these signings are serving Ronny Deila particularly well not one of them, and some have let him down badly, and you could easily argue the only youth product Keiran Tierney is partially down to him, and doing well.

Nadir Ciftci bumped home to Turkey, Stuart Armstrong at best could be described struggling, Gary MacKay Steven the same. Carlton Cole was injured when he came, is injured now, Saidy Janko (see Carlton Cole) Jozo Simunovic (see Carlton Cole) Scott Allan unable to command a starting place, and Dedryk Boyata now a firm whipping bhoy favourite from the sieve.

If we exclude Colin Kazim Richards and Eric Sviatchenko for the time being, the rest are legacy Celtic players that Ronny inherited and still the main core of the Celtic squad, and nobody in that group is serving us particularly well either.

Mulgrew Brown, Commons injury plagued all likely to feature when fit. McGregor and Forrest flim flamming through another in and out season, ever ready fans favourite Efe (prone to mishap) Ambrose was a one stage an automatic.

There is no question that Celtic have very serious quality control issues and these frantic Tom Dick and Harry signing windows which started when WGS left and Tony Mowbray checked in, thrown into a great big melting pot of players that hasn’t been made into a Celtic team.
