Celtic interims report turnover up

571

Celtic published a decent set of interim results this afternoon for the 6 months to 31 December 2015 but chairman, Ian Bankier’s address gets down to business with, “One the park, it has been a frustrating season”.

The sale of Virgil van Dijk contributed to a £12.6m income for player trading, balanced by £6.1m spent on the acquisition of Jozo Simunovic, Scott Allan, Saidy Janko Ryan Christie and Nadir Ciftci. This brought pre-tax profit to £11.7m, with cash in the bank at £7.7m (up from £5.3m a year earlier).

Turnover was up by an inch to £31.4m as the club traded at an operating profit for the period of £1.564m (before player trading). The second half of the year is devoid of European football income, not that the Europa League is that much of a game changer.

I know financial stability isn’t an end in itself, but it’s important nonetheless.

I missed the comment which set off the ‘racist’ argument last night.

    Result,I think…

I’ve no wish to set it off again, instead I’ll offer a wee link to an anti-racism anthem.

    I didn’t see it,so can’t comment.

I know that my own sense of humour isn’t everyone’s. I tend to go with-if you laugh before you realise its offensive nature, then fine. If not…

Of course, some comments are simply wrong in certain company. Discretion and good sense are required, frankly.

  13. Good morning my friends and happy Matchday from a cloudy, calm, chilly East Kilbride, where I have woke up to find a light dusting of snow on the ground.

Today I was hoping to complete my 150th ParkRun. But that now depends on a course inspection report around 8.30…..

Course will be fine at Strathy, especially for a fleet footed man like yourself. Have to be more gym rehab for me, heading there for 9. Then family stuff, then Paradise.

Celtic in the 80’s and 90’s used to get put out first or second round of European competition and some years never qualified for Europe . Discuss.

I think it was a refusal to abandon ‘the Celtic way’ and our adherence to a 4/4/2 4/2/4 which was uber attacking, made us easy pickings for any tactically adept team

  17. Reading back, perhaps those who are so offended by the original post need to review the meaning of racism.

It was a spur of the moment play on words.

Whilst I can understand some being unhappy with it, to term the poster racist is totally over the top, and maybe Paul should be removing the posts of anyone who did term the poster racist, because THAT IS offensive.

There was a big annoying bloke sitting next to you, with grey hair, freakish looking sort, always fidgeting about on his seat, nervously giggling under his breath, seen pics of him on here a wee while back with PL…..a selfy-thingy in the boardroom, recently seen him outside CP after an AGM, talking to the BBC Reporting Scotland reporter(dodgy stuff:0)….ye never know ‘who’ yer sitting next to ?….Loads of strange yins oot there….careful how you go.

  20. Was big Billy McNeill a racist ?

If not, why did he not sign Mark Walters from Aston Villa before the huns got their evil hauns on him ?

Big Billy was Walters gaffer at AV, just before taking the Celtic job.

Walters would have been a guid winger instead of wee Super Joe Miller who should have been played as a striker through the middle where he played for Aberdeen scoring in almost every game for the Dons and, the same when he was played there for us.

Nahhhh…..come to think of it, Walters was a sleekit , scumbag who was later pictured with Jim White of STV, both wearing OO floot bawn suits….on the front page of the Sun….way back in the day.

Walters was a guid player but, once he drank oot of the devils-bowl at the orcdome….he became an Orc…imho.

Btw, I’m only kidding about Big Billy being a racist, before all the nicker-twisters release the hounds on me.

    I didn’t mention RD.

I just meant today’s game is really a ‘ must win’ in the context of winning the league.

Our last 3 performances have been poor and I hope we gain a bit of confidence by coming out of that slump today.

We don’t want to give Aberdeen any more encouragement than we already have recently.

Time to step up to the plate.

    BTW I support RD 100%
