Celtic interims report turnover up

Celtic published a decent set of interim results this afternoon for the 6 months to 31 December 2015 but chairman, Ian Bankier’s address gets down to business with, “One the park, it has been a frustrating season”.

The sale of Virgil van Dijk contributed to a £12.6m income for player trading, balanced by £6.1m spent on the acquisition of Jozo Simunovic, Scott Allan, Saidy Janko Ryan Christie and Nadir Ciftci. This brought pre-tax profit to £11.7m, with cash in the bank at £7.7m (up from £5.3m a year earlier).

Turnover was up by an inch to £31.4m as the club traded at an operating profit for the period of £1.564m (before player trading). The second half of the year is devoid of European football income, not that the Europa League is that much of a game changer.

I know financial stability isn’t an end in itself, but it’s important nonetheless.

    I’ve heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life; is this true?

     

    No – your heart is only good for so many beats, and that’s it… Don’t waste them on exercise . Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer, that’s like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap.

     

     

    Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?

     

    You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommended daily allowance of vegetable products.

     

     

     

    Should I reduce my alcohol intake?

     

    No, not at all. Wine is made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine, that means they take the water out of the fruity bit so you get even more of the goodness that way. Beer is also made out of grain.

    Well, if you have a body and you have fat, your ratio is one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.

    Can’t think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No Pain… Is Good.

    Food is fried in vegetable oil. How could getting more vegetables be bad for you?

    Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach.

     

     

     

    Is chocolate bad for me?

     

    Never heard of cocoa beans? Another vegetable. It’s the best feel-good food around.

     

     

    And, above all-

     

    Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways – lager in one hand, bacon butty in the other – body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming “WOO HOO what a ride!”

    MacJay, absolute nonsense, a racist comment was made.

     

    It was racist, the perpetrator made a poor defence, very poor.

     

    Then you defend him. Why? because he infers his partner has dark skin, so he can’t be racist?

     

    Yet you don’t know him.

     

    The only real authority on the blog, Paul67, yellow cards him for a racist comment and you defend him. He is the arbiter, not me.

     

     

    The man made a racist comment, he was called out.

     

    He deserved the criticism I gave him.

     

    I made nor condone personal abuse, PhilBhoy also, correctly, received a yellow card.

     

    To challenge racism, or narrow minded racist views, is not thought police MacJay.

     

    To not do so is cowardice, or tacit agreement.

    That is his issue, I will only fight the battles I choose to.

    My dear friends I have always been able to,see the deeper picture. It has ever Been a blessing and a curse.

     

     

    There have been times as a Celtic fan that I have never been prouder. Even in despair I the pitch I saw nothing but the quality of us as a support. 1994 and all that was a time of great pride for me.

     

     

    But now i have never been more ashamed of what Celtic have become. I could go on about the corruption. I could discuss the OB again. I could talk Celtic attacking it’s support for minor issues (blown out of all proportion by a nation slavering at any perceived way to attack it’s minority).

     

     

    But none of that really matters that much. It’s our division that is the problem and the horror that is the Celtic boards desire to divide us.

     

     

    It is disgusting.

     

     

    Can we change it?

     

     

    Not unless you are ALL willing to be brave and that you all shake off your complacency.

     

     

    Don’t you see homing is at stake here?

    As for our back four, play as a back four and stop the attacking wing back p**h and leaving us wide open on a break.

     

     

    I scanned back and caught a good post about stats with Leicester earlier…a solid team, players playing in a natural position in a uniformed team.

     

     

    Now, could that work for us?

    TET, individuals are arseholes, not because of where they come from, or the colour of their skin.

     

     

    Some cultures have common beliefs or traits that make it difficult for others to understand or empathise with, no doubt about that, but that isn’t because they were born in a certain country, or to a race.

    Why do people jump on that card when there is nothing to report.

     

    As I said earlier..if that comment was said standing at the bar I would have a wee giggle and move.

    MacJay, as mentioned, I argued my points, I was happy to try to persuade Maggie on the points, there was no humour in the gag. It was out of any context.

     

    I do not believe Mags to be racist, but I now see he can’t admit an error of judgement.
