Celtic interims stunning-ageddon

858

Champions League football this season has enabled Celtic to achieve a remarkable set of interim financial results for the period 1 June 2012 to 31 December 2012.  Turnover was up 71%, a stunning-ageddon figure.

Ticket sales and other stadium revenue was up marginally, to £18.598m (2011: £16.446m), as was merchandising, to £9.847m (2001: £7.821m), both reflecting the ancillary value of Champions League participation, but the big increase was in TV and media income, £21.613m, up from a paltry £5.004m in the same period of 2011.

The only amber flag on the results was the increase in operating costs, from £28.388m to £36.961m, a 30% increase, which will reflect higher bonus payments for Champions League participation, higher wage costs and a more general increase in running costs.

Pre-tax profit came in at £14.944m, leaving net bank debt at £130k.

These are fantastic results from a well-run club which will enable ever-more solid foundations to be laid.  We are also one of the few clubs to qualify for the latter stages of the Champions League AND to do so profitably. Congratulations to all.

I’m participating on an online STV preview at 18:30 tonight, looking forward to the small challenge ahead.  Hope you can join us.

The event is part of our 125 4 125 campaign – central to reinvigorating the charitable spirit which is part of the club we love. It will be a family occasions, tickets are available at £10 for adults and £5 for children. The night has been organised by several fans working in conjunction with the people at Celtic Charity, so please do your best to support this great occasion. Individual tickets or tables are available, details here.

I’ll see you there.

Re the titles and 2003 in particular

That one really didn’t hurt me. Of course it happened in the worst possible way but would I swop the run to Seville for that league title? No way would I! I loved that season and I know our players deserved to have more to show for it at the end but I bet some of them would tell you the same, that a European final that year was better than a league medal.

  2. Wunna dem daze in fitba’……..Liverpool just cannae get the ball in the net. I’ve lost count of how many shots they’ve had on goal. The laws of physics are with The Baggies.

    Penalty for The ‘Pool!

    Gerrard kick saved by Foster.

It’s all the kinda thing that makes fitba’ so fascinatin’.

the accounts are audited, the board can’t just pluck numbers out of thin air and then publish them

Have you seen the Audited books which are dispatched out to the share holders?

    —————————————————————————————————————–

    ABSOLUTELY

There are Accounting Conventions in place that are agreed upon and accepted by HMRC and under which the club auditors must report its annual financial performance using the agreed format.

The club auditors do not “just make up any old numbers” for submission…………that ultimately leads to gaps in stadium roofs, peeling paint, sun bleached seats and ultimately bankruptcy………..and none of us want that

Great credit must be given to NFL and his coaches for understanding the type of players we need to acquire to be where we are today, to JP for correctly identifying and scouting the players and PL with the board for making it all happen financially while operating within the model.

Personally I was never the greatest fan of PL but in a results driven business….money talks and BS walks. We are winning the war at a canter.

Accounts are merely a snapshot of the financial health of a company at a given period and at this time period we are in debt for 130K……..I think most of us will accept this.

The great Ajax team of the early 70’s were all home grown kids (literally) in combination with a couple of older wiser heads and they won the CL three years on the bounce….its the way forward.

May all our Gods go with us tomorrow evening………..its all about the synergy.

Watching this Lierpoolngame…..would be very frustrated if I were a Liverpool fan…

Watched 10 mins of it, made Hibs game look good although gave up on that one at HT and moved to CQN!!!!

  5. To the CQN’RS who We’re trying to locate a Malaga bar which was showing the game tomorrow..thanks.

Seems my boy has found one so all is good.

    sftb,

    couple of things

juve lost titles as a consequence of cheating, not punishment.

    being demoted was their punishment

juve were not in financial trouble

the hun were liquidated as a result of their financial mess and any cheating should result in the same consequences of stripped titles and trophies.

Now this is the tricky bit, they are dead :o)

Tinkerbell FC are not Rangers FC regardless of the meeja and SFA claims.

rest easy buddy, there is very little similarity :o)

    juve are still juve :o)

  7. Angelgabriel – again I have never called for us to break wage structures etc etc – that is an assumption you have made.

Also players wont come to the SPL – jeezoh – isnt that what the huns used to say when they were in their pomp?

Tommybhoy1967 – a new league and big increase in season tickets – FACT. God no not FACTS – again whenever I debate with Huns they quote spurious and misleading FACTS! Stoppit!

67Heaven – now I am a zombie alien – will need to add that to the collection – fab!

  8. Hail Hail all, scrolling back I’m amazed that some posters are almost suggesting that the Auditors are cooking the Books to hide profits. We are a Public Limited Company, analysts from all Financial Houses can and will analyse our accounts. Guys from the other side, the MSM would just love to stick one on us. The Accounts are accurate & honest and reflect the true position of the Club, end of story.

I have done my checklist, my wee bag is packed, scarf, cap, passport, boarding passes, sterling etc. Alarm set for 5am, then corkcelt is on his way to Glasgow, can’t wait.

  9. Plus never liked Liverpool after they took my boyhood hero Kenny away plus seen them play a friendly against St Mirren when Kenny played -Huns filled Love St that night unfortunately

  10. the long wait is over on

Last 16 of the CL and a decent chance of last 8 for the first time ever.

    Romping the SPL

Healthy , to say the least, profit in what is , in all likelihood, the worst financial crisis this country has seen (other than the two world wars ) since the club was formed

As good as squad of young players as I can remember with hugely profitable resale values IF we have to sell them.

A charismatic and brave young manager whose love for our club is worn on his sleeve in the face of scandalous and criminal intimidation

Our rivals in utter disarray and humiliation.

Call me a happy clapper all you like but I’ll take that every day of the week and twice on a Sunday…

zimmerman I apologise, I had promised to go looking and it completely slipped my mind. Glad you’ve found one.

Battered Bunnet – of course I will – however its the same old same old so I doubt I will be surprised.

Auldheid – my beef is with Celtic pulling the wool over supporters eyes by somehow, against all the odds, having a small net bank debt. This is then used to ensure that Celtic continue to charge very high season ticket rates while actually investing very little in the playing squad.

I wonder how we will have a net bank debt when we sell hooper and wanyama in the summer.

Surely the focus should be on the team that has not been punished and the association that is reticent to do so ? And one that our C.E wants to take the heat off ???

Not a problem..he seems to have it all sorted..a bar in the town centre so all is good.

My mitigation for focus was that we are due to play them in 22 hours time and we do not have to face Sevco anytime soon.

After tomorrow the focus can and will return to where it should be.

As a matter of interest, which bar has got the game on?

Last time I was there it was murder getting fixed up, would like to know for next time.
