Celtic interims stunning-ageddon

858

Champions League football this season has enabled Celtic to achieve a remarkable set of interim financial results for the period 1 June 2012 to 31 December 2012.  Turnover was up 71%, a stunning-ageddon figure.

Ticket sales and other stadium revenue was up marginally, to £18.598m (2011: £16.446m), as was merchandising, to £9.847m (2001: £7.821m), both reflecting the ancillary value of Champions League participation, but the big increase was in TV and media income, £21.613m, up from a paltry £5.004m in the same period of 2011.

The only amber flag on the results was the increase in operating costs, from £28.388m to £36.961m, a 30% increase, which will reflect higher bonus payments for Champions League participation, higher wage costs and a more general increase in running costs.

Pre-tax profit came in at £14.944m, leaving net bank debt at £130k.

These are fantastic results from a well-run club which will enable ever-more solid foundations to be laid.  We are also one of the few clubs to qualify for the latter stages of the Champions League AND to do so profitably. Congratulations to all.

I’m participating on an online STV preview at 18:30 tonight, looking forward to the small challenge ahead.  Hope you can join us.

The event is part of our 125 4 125 campaign – central to reinvigorating the charitable spirit which is part of the club we love. It will be a family occasions, tickets are available at £10 for adults and £5 for children. The night has been organised by several fans working in conjunction with the people at Celtic Charity, so please do your best to support this great occasion. Individual tickets or tables are available, details here.

I’ll see you there.

I started smoking when i was a kid, say about 13, that would have been the year we won the big cup, I stopped in 2001 till started again in 2010, first day nearly over, the next two or three will be harder, but I will do it this time again.

As I said earlier…when you are effed before you are effed, it really is time.

This time for good mi amigo, thanks.

  3. It’s nearly here.

Funny at the start of this season many didn’t give the Celtic a chance in the Champions league. But hope springs eternal., as they say and more and more have become optimistic about our chances.

Come what may tomorrow, it doesn’t matter whether we win lose or draw.

But listening to Neil Lennon tonight he has a clear vision for Celtic. And it sees us back with a wee chance at the Big One again.

    God bless you NFL.

I knew a person who lost a leg thru smoking. They were warned they wd loss the other one if the didnt stop smoking. They didnt and they did!!

  8. Sixty thousand pounds for policing costs sounds over the top……1k pounds for every 1k fans…….ways of reducing costs get shot of the 7 numpties (cops) who spent their the enti..re evening staring up at the GB IN LAST MATCH WITH dundee united …anyways theGB ARE PUTTING ON ANOTHER DISPLAY…not on the same scale as the barca one…so should be good

  9. The Pope resigns.

    That’s a shock.

Have the odds been posted yet for the next Pontiff?

Here’s my own little book . . . Who’ll be the first on CQN to post a daft conspiracy theory around the Pope’s historic decision to resign?

    Time to get to bed.hh

  12. I gave up cigarettes the day my first son was born, which is approaching 32 years hence, and I haven’t smoked since.

It was undoubtedly the most difficult thing I have ever done, so I have great sympathy for anyone attempting to kick the habit.

Spot on about the chems. I believe in itself nicotine is not addictive, how else would folks get off the patches. Never seriously contemplated giving up the weed tho

My pal worked in Wills on the Parade and he told us they made millions of fags from what they swept of the floor at the end of a shift.

He was a non smoker too!!!

  17. I gave up the fags and ended up with ulcerative colitis same shitty disease Darren Fletcher unfortunately has,and lost my bowel through it

Imagine being told by your surgeon that if you had still been on the fags you would probably have kept the disease at bay and might have held onto your bowel

Only regret I can’t wear a thong on the beach anymore

  18. Roll Over Lay Down should have been listened to years ago under the influence of a good Barolo rather than a good Smirnoff

  19. Team for the game (assuming EA makes it, and GS unfit)…

    ……………………FF……………………

    ….ML…….EA……..KW……..EI…….

    JF………SB…….VW…….JL……CM

    …………………….GH………………….

If EA doesn’t make it, I’d have AM in with ML moving inside.

Or start with KC and keep JF for sub role.

Clean sheet must be priority, so keep it tight for as long as possible, hitting on break. Plenty of legs in middle five to support GH, as well as defend when not in possession.

Option to bring on KC/JF and/or TW later on, if we need fresh attacking options.

Beating Barca has given us all (esp players) greater confidence, but I still see us as underdogs, even at home.

No matter the result, the bhoys have excelled in CL this season and have done us proud.

Can’t see much wrong with your side but you might see adam in place of jamesie. Got a feeling it’ll be a cagey affair, mibbes even a dour 0-0. Its a result I’d take but I’ll be there and hope to cheer a goal or 2 for the bhoys. Can’t wait
