Champions League football this season has enabled Celtic to achieve a remarkable set of interim financial results for the period 1 June 2012 to 31 December 2012. Turnover was up 71%, a stunning-ageddon figure.
Ticket sales and other stadium revenue was up marginally, to £18.598m (2011: £16.446m), as was merchandising, to £9.847m (2001: £7.821m), both reflecting the ancillary value of Champions League participation, but the big increase was in TV and media income, £21.613m, up from a paltry £5.004m in the same period of 2011.
The only amber flag on the results was the increase in operating costs, from £28.388m to £36.961m, a 30% increase, which will reflect higher bonus payments for Champions League participation, higher wage costs and a more general increase in running costs.
Pre-tax profit came in at £14.944m, leaving net bank debt at £130k.
These are fantastic results from a well-run club which will enable ever-more solid foundations to be laid. We are also one of the few clubs to qualify for the latter stages of the Champions League AND to do so profitably. Congratulations to all.
I’m participating on an online STV preview at 18:30 tonight, looking forward to the small challenge ahead. Hope you can join us.
The event is part of our 125 4 125 campaign – central to reinvigorating the charitable spirit which is part of the club we love. It will be a family occasions, tickets are available at £10 for adults and £5 for children. The night has been organised by several fans working in conjunction with the people at Celtic Charity, so please do your best to support this great occasion. Individual tickets or tables are available, details here.
I’ll see you there.

Good morning CQNers,
On checking my emails this morning I found one from the BBC informing me my post on the Ireland / England game (rugby for the uninitiated) was removed as it contravened house rules due to its defamatory nature. It was perfect start to this special day.
Looking forward to tonight where I’ll watch the game from my lucky spot in the pub, a spot that has an unbeaten history.
Unlike Ireland who fluffed their destiny, tonight I expect us to be clinical when goal chances present themselves – something we’ve done so well in European games so far this season.
12hours to go.

Can anyone remind me of the various input to add ITV HD to my Sky box. I got these years ago from someone on here, but have lost the procedure and the values to put in.
Cheers in advance

Morning all!
Hardly slept a wink all night -several glasses of red wine and strong espressos.
High as a bloody kite!
HH!!
So, we have Tennents Extra on the tops tonight as its particularly popular in Turin?!
I can just see the Italians sitting down for some lovely seafood pasta and asking for a 2012 pint of Extra to polish it off. None if that Pinot Grigot pash, grazie very much.
So glad to be seeing the back of this tacky brand
Anyone on here have the video with Lenny ? something inside so strong with him speaking and that as the background music ?
Cheers.
Curly
I think this is how you do it
To add ITV1 HD in STV or UTV regions you need to do this.
Press “Services” on the remote control (or from the Guide go to “Options” on the top menu).
Press the down arrow, and then scroll across to “Add Channels”.
Press “Select” or the down arrow, to highlight the frequency.
Using the number pad on the remote, enter the following frequency: 10.832
Press the down arrow, and use the left or right arrow to change the Polarisation from V to H.
Check that the Symbol Rate is 22.0 and that the FEC is 5/6, and adjust if necessary.
Press the yellow button to Find Channels.
Once it has finished scanning, find & highlight one of the channels “ITV1 HD” (there should be two of them) and press the yellow button to store it, and then press Select to continue.
You can now view ITV HD by going to “Other Channels” within Services/Options (it’s next to “Add Channels”) & pressing Select to reveal channel ITV1 HD & then pressing Select again to view it.
Juventus are doomed
Good morning CQNrs
from a coool, bright grey and very excited Glasgow !
What a day, it seems that there are lots of new opportunities for NFL to have a laugh with the players when he shows them the headline from the Juve captain.
I hope that Butcher et al are suitably insulted after the Juve captain puts his proverbial size 10s in it with his comments on the lack of competition in SPL. I don’t recall any game this season where we were gifted our well earned points.
We have competition and its you JUVE !
LOL Buffoon la Balloon.
C’mon the Cellic !
TTTT, sound advice.
Citibhoy, I am!
Morning CQNer’s
Just dropped in to say….

Thanks for sharing that M8.
that is what I’m worried about for tonight
Efe makes Kelvin play like a Celtic style
CH. imo
Watching the game on Saturday…big FF
struck me as not being back to full fitness
yet. That for me, is a worry. But, if Efe plays
well…. that’s a horse of a different color.
The Benfiica game at home was a bore-fest
both teams only managing a couple of shots
at goal between them. I’ll tell ye what…if we
deploy the same tactics tonight and keep
Juve away from our goals…I’ll be prepared to
take our chances over in Turin.
Safety first as…I don’t think big FF is 100% yet.
Maybe Neil is keeping that info under wraps ?
We’ll find out soon enough.
Prediction : 1-0 or 0-0
Hail Hail
God Bless

I apologize for breaking the blog.
Off oot.
Good Morning,
… and here they come. Like a silent siren calling the diaspora home, some unknown force of nature will cause them to board planes, buses, ships, cars, skateboards, pogo sticks, sandals, trainers… and yes even cowboy boots and the occasional horse or any other means of transportation.
Throughout the world there will be people simply travelling just to get to an address in the east end of Glasgow. One can expect that perhaps of an “away” support– but this travelling army is in fact the “home” support. Whether it is a mere walk of a few hundred yards or a plane journey covering thousands of miles– they will come with belief, with hope, with love of their club and their team and with a passion that is second to none.
While the rest of the world adjusts and debates as to who will stand in the Shoes of the Fisherman at the end of the month….. this travelling army are more concentrated on who stands in the boots of Johnstone, Auld, Murdoch, Chalmers, McNeill, Simpson, Lennox, Wallace, Gemmell, Clark, Craig and others who have followed down the years.
It was in Lisbon that European Football was first introduced to the massed ranks that followed this club. No club had ever taken such a travelling support across a continent. That day changed football and how football was supported forever.
The modern day UEFA phenomenon can be traced directly to that day and this club.
By 2003 when the same club went to Seville— 3% of all people who boarded an aircraft on 18th May — did so only to follow this football club– and those figures did not include those who flew on the days before or on the actual day of the game.
There are many football clubs in Europe, but there are only 16 left in contention for the honour of being crowned Champions of Europe—- and of those 16—— only one is called
CELTIC…….. and it is reckoned that they have the greatest home advantage in European football.
They face a tough task against the Champions of Italy…… but let’s face it— we have been here before.

Been lying awake all night with this question in my head, maybe you can help?
Will Snoop Lion be holding Scott Browns hand as the teams come out tonight. ;0)
For those of you doing Lent and hoping to be celebrating tonight, I’m sure that it’s not really tomorrow until you’ve been to bed.

So say us and so says Neil Young.
Hail! Hail! Celtic Fans Everywhere!
KTF!
Not even got to work yet and head all over the place. Will be a loooong day until I meet my mates and get that first pint.
No point in giving my team for tonight. This is what I think it’ll be:
Forster
Lustig Wilson Mulgrew Izaguirre
Brown Wanyama Ledley
Commons Hooper Samaras
… although I wonder whether Lenny may feel he needs Matthews on the left to cope with their pace. Think they will see LB as our weak point.
If it is 4-3-3, Hooper will have his work cut out, as I think it will fall to him to hassle Pirlo as well as menace the defence.
Forrest to come on 2nd half.
Anybody got a pancake recipe?
Jus’ kiddin’ Bring on the Juve…
Goooooooooood morning

Fit or not Izzy should not lay tonight He is our weak spot, Juve know it and will target it. Positionally he gets caught out too often and he offers little (compared to first season) going forward. Mulgrew should play there to combat Leichsteiners height, pace and power, Lustig in the centre with Wilson and Matthews at right back. Alternately play Matthews at left back and Charlie in centre, but no Izzy.

Toffeetim 8.49, scary , I got up singing that hymn …
