Celtic interims stunning-ageddon

858

Champions League football this season has enabled Celtic to achieve a remarkable set of interim financial results for the period 1 June 2012 to 31 December 2012.  Turnover was up 71%, a stunning-ageddon figure.

Ticket sales and other stadium revenue was up marginally, to £18.598m (2011: £16.446m), as was merchandising, to £9.847m (2001: £7.821m), both reflecting the ancillary value of Champions League participation, but the big increase was in TV and media income, £21.613m, up from a paltry £5.004m in the same period of 2011.

The only amber flag on the results was the increase in operating costs, from £28.388m to £36.961m, a 30% increase, which will reflect higher bonus payments for Champions League participation, higher wage costs and a more general increase in running costs.

Pre-tax profit came in at £14.944m, leaving net bank debt at £130k.

These are fantastic results from a well-run club which will enable ever-more solid foundations to be laid.  We are also one of the few clubs to qualify for the latter stages of the Champions League AND to do so profitably. Congratulations to all.

I’m participating on an online STV preview at 18:30 tonight, looking forward to the small challenge ahead.  Hope you can join us.

The event is part of our 125 4 125 campaign – central to reinvigorating the charitable spirit which is part of the club we love. It will be a family occasions, tickets are available at £10 for adults and £5 for children. The night has been organised by several fans working in conjunction with the people at Celtic Charity, so please do your best to support this great occasion. Individual tickets or tables are available, details here.

I’ll see you there.

Ergo, given the strength of our belief, we shall gub the sculpted gel-head tanned prima donna diving team that’s known as an ‘old lady’.

  8. Did anyone post a link to Paul67’s appearance on radio 5 this morning? Was hoping to hear him speak but I can’t find a link to a recording. It would be really nice to hear him promoting the Hoops and speaking on behalf of the people who make this such an interesting place to spend time.

  10. My main hope for tonight is for Neil to match up tactically against Juve, his team set ups have been spot on which has impressed me.I just hope we are still in the tie come the 2nd leg.Concentration from the whole team is the key,we can’t switch off for a second.PS I am a pessimist by nature.

Thought I’d better bring my ole rumspringa to an end, don’t want to be shunned completely.

Lettin’ it stretch into Lent might have been goin’ too far.

  16. Kayal33 @9:02

I’d be very surprised if that happens. Mulgrew, although generally poor at LB, is a sound choice there when we play 4-3-3, but Lustig and Wilson have no experience playing together in that set-up. To test them there in a game of such magnitude would be taking a huge, unnecessary risk. Matthews at RB in 4-3-3 is mixed – he’s much better when in full attack mode, and this will be a very tactical game.

  17. Have to say I felt more nervous before the qualifiers as the risk of failure meant disaster. I’m pretty relaxed about this one – if we get through great, but if we don’t it will still have been a fine campaign.

That might change just before kick off though

  18. Len Brennan

Bishop B thank you very much that’s working which is a surprise as I’m in Switzerland…

One less worry for tonight, now where’s that pancake recipe!!

  19. Why is everyone so excited about Juve coming to town tonight? I’ve been to all the previous games that Juve have played against the biggest club in the world at Celtic Park and tonight I believe I will see them beaten for the third time.

I’m excited that we’re playing in the CL Last 16, but as far as I’m concerned my Club is a far far far bigger club that Juve can ever dream of being and the only clubs that rival us are Barca & Real.

Tonight we reclaim our place in the upper tier of European football and I believe we will be staying here for a long, long time to come.

HAIL HAIL THE CELTS ARE HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!
