BRENDAN RODGERS will step up his interest in Rapid Vienna winger Nicolas Kuhn.

The left-sided touchline ace is on the Celtic manager’s January hit-list, as CQN reported earlier this month.

Rodgers is keen to add the 24-year-old German to his squad and it is believed the champions have already had talks with the Austrian club about the availability of Kuhn who is valaued around the £2.5million mark.

The player joined Rapid for £500,000 two seasons ago and they now rate him at least FIVE times their initial outlay with the exciting talent scoring three goals with seven assists this time out.

The Austrians will reluctantly listen to offers for Kuhn who is under contract until June 30 2026.

Further discussions are expected in the coming days, according to the Scottish Sun.

Kuhn kicked off his career at RB Leipzig before moving to Ajax and Bayern Munich.

The Hoops’ interest in the flanker will add to the speculation over the future of Mikey Johnston who has toiled with injury and form since he returned from his season-long loan at Portuguese top-flight outfit Vitoria Guimaraes in the summer.

The Republic of Ireland international scored his first goals in over four years with a double in the 3-0 win over Dundee at Dens Park on Boxing Day, but he could still be loaned out in this window to get some valuable game-time.
