NAT OUT, NIC IN?

NAT PHILLIPS has returned to Liverpool after failing to convince during his short-term loan at Celtic, a move revealed by CQN over a fortnight ago.

The centre-back answered an SOS from the champions in the summer when there were injury concerns over Cameron Carter-Vickers, Stephen Welsh and £7.3million recruits Maik Nawrocki and Gustaf Lagerbielke.

Phillips, 26, made only eight appearances for the Hoops and in his last outing he scored a horrendous own goal in the team’s 2-1 loss to Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on December 10.

NAT’S ALL, FOLKS…Phillips heads off the Rugby Park pitch on December 10, his last appearance for Celtic. The Liverpool defender is followed by Yang Hyun-jun, Scott Bain, Brendan Rodgers and Callum McGregor.

The Englishman is likely to be on the move again in this window, either on a permanent or temporary transfer. It appears he has no future at Anfield.

As Phillips heads for the exit, Brendan Rodgers has been linked with Rapid Vienna winger Nicolas Kuhn, according to a report in the Scottish Sun.

The 24-year-old German-born forward, who has previously been on the books at Ajax and Bayern Munich, moved to Austria for a cut-price £500,000 18 months ago.

Rapid are said to be looking for at least £2million for Kuhn who is under contract until June 2026.
