There is no focal point to our attack so not surprising we don’t score often.
Griff can’t lead the line in our set up unless the midfielders are prepared to attack the space he creates when he drifts outside.
That doesn’t happen so the central zone where most teams goals come from is vacant.
I saw something in Jack Hendry today I liked. Long may his good form continue.

Special mention to the back four.
In spite of what some may say, Aberdeen carried a threat when they attacked, particularly GMS.
Extra special mention to Jack Hendry, who continued his good form.
Noticeable whenever he and Boyata moved through their midfield, gaps opened.
We only started doing that again in the second half on Wednesday.
This year is going to be a fight to the finish, as in the old days of our NIAR, therefore I predict a lot of moaning and player character assassinations from the Entitlers who haunt this place.

Watched the game in my bed in San Francisco. Many thanks for the updates and to Lymmbhoy for showing the goal.
Pleased with the result and effort but we are not back to our best form or anywhere near it.
With the mini-slump behind us- now is the time for Brendan to demand even more from the players and not let them feel that this is a corner turned.
We have 2 tough away Europa fixtures next month where i would regard it as a good result if we manage not to lose both of them but we have 3 winnable league games, home vs Hibs & Well plus away to St. Johnstone. I expect us to be in 2nd place by then on our own.
Hendry and Boyata were among our most positive performances, though Jack does get spun by an agricultural centre forward too often. The Dons had 2 of them today in May (remember when he was touted as a “no-brainer signing that PL let get away) and Cosgrove (who seemed to be playing football for the first time today as a break from his usual MMA and Rugby Union pastimes.
Despite deserving our 1:0 win, that was a nervy and battling affair and it was good for us to show these qualities but Europe will demand a different approach.
I know Boyata got MOTM but I would have given it to Kieran for those two life-enhancing (not if you were the Don player on the receiving end) tackles at the end that made this game worthwhile.
Well done Celtic- but the corner is still some way ahead.

Deserved win, starting to play a bit better but the lack of chances we’re creating is a concern. Both of recent weeks whipping Bhoys, Lustig and Hendry, played well but MOTM was Boyata. Surprised that Ntcham was substituted, I thought he was controlling the game from the middle. Aberdeen were a bit more adventurous than they have been in recent visits but rarely threatened. Madden is a disgrace. I’m not normally someone who thinks the referees are anti Celtic/pro Sevco, I genuinely think they are incompetent. Madden is different, he is a cheat. He was their best player and how he never sent off McKenna for his two footed flying assault on Edouard should mean a demotion (won’t happen). https://mobile.twitter.com/celticgossip/status/1046069432332832772

Difficult to talk about midfield to front because of Aberdeen’s block-defending cynicism, and quite staggering refereeing bias.

Celtic “Cheeky” is obvs v different to………. ” Cheeky Chappie”.
I think they intend it to mean, undeserved, flukey or lucky,
Bobby Madden never to be out done, or Beaton revels in denying Celtic a referee in every visit he makes to Parkhead, today was no exception. Plus ca change ? – doesn’t even mix his bias with honest mistakes and he gave the home support a cynical full blown show of what’s to come in the new, evenly matched season ahead against our squad that has undoubtedly lost some of its magic mojo.
However, there was never any danger of Celtic giving Aberdeen a sniff, with the imperious Dedryk Boyata marshalling the improving Jack Hendry through the 90 minutes to another throroughly deserved man of the match award. Semi retired Mikael Lustig rarely gets forward these days, but creates a presence at the back Celtic from which the others gain.
James Forrest rules off the right flank but too often opts out of the forward pass for a lazy lay back, however we should be content with his input, as he was still Celtic’s best chance of assists, for the umpteenth time in recent seasons. Lewis Morgan only had minutes, but James Forrest he isn’t, especially in defensive cover.
Odsonne Edouard was fouled by Scott McKenna, cleaned out in fact, but Madden sees what he wants to see, and Edouard limped off not to return, after the by kick awarded. It’s the little fouls however, where Madden influences the game, snide fouls he ignores, soft or 50/50 always go to anything but the green and white. With 90 minutes and Aberdeen pressing for an undeserved equaliser Madden stepped up to help Sam Cosgrove who clattered Scott Brown in the back back awarding a free kick, to the astonishment of the Celtic support who hadn’t started for the exits.
Keiran Tierney was influenced by Bobby Madden but in a good way, when he made two tackles in short succession that sent the ball thundering to delirious mainstand safety, and sent his message quickly picked up by the Green Brigade, that were already onto Bobby Madden.
Before all this Celtic played well without penalty box penetration, and if you include Moussa Dembele it wasn’t there last season either, whats missing is something different. Olivier Ntcham was the midfield winner in the first half playing balls into the channels , he faded and was replaced despite Callum MacGregors inclusion to the end. Scott Sinclair was the unlikely provider of something completely different whilst facing the wrong way for more than todays game and for some time, he finally used his initiative , with a improvised cheeky winner, that sent him and the Celtic support into raptures of relief.
Leigh Griffiths ran his heart out and shrugged off a late ignored Madden foul to bear in on goal but he couldn’t get his ‘Larssons” right and the ball drifted harmlessly wide.
