  1. Well done, Champions, top tier title number 49, and the fourth time the Mighty Hoops have achieved 5-in-a-row, and the second time this young century already!

Hail Hail The Celts Are Here!

    Enjoy all!

Ye see, Lenny’s departure reminded me of when, Bobo couldny get leaving to sign for Big Eck at Birmingham.

McLeish said that, “We wanted to bring in Bobo but, Celtic wouldn’t release him until he had signed a confidentiality agreement.!

When Lenny left….he had to cook up a statement that we were all on the same page and p#sh like that.

Maybe, Lenny wanting to come back because he’s heard that, DD is going to bag Lawwell ?

    I’m guessing.

The players lost the semi final (Thompson had his usual influence) by the way I was gutted when ICT knocked us out last season……no difference who beats us (also referee influenced) I hate not being the SC final, you love your jungle, my love is Celtic in the last game of the season with the sun shining……..first game against the liquidated mob was 1980 McGrain/McCluskey final, went in an Escort XRi…..3 Huns & 2 Celtic fans in the same car……only reason my mum let me go, she trusted one of the (then) Rangers fans

Don’t believe the hype or hatred 99% of us just get on……

  6. The first half had a lot of reasons to be optimistic about next.

Second half not so much but with the right coach fixable.

The passing and off ball movement in the first was excellent .

The central midfield area needs fixed as in second half it resorted to type and caused us problems.

Still think we lack a true leader who can steady us at times but that guy costs money.

Thought McG and SA showed well today and in the right system will flourish.

Did I mention that madden is a dirty cheating OB?

To win against 12 is never easy but brings huge satisfaction.

  7. Nervous 90 minutes for the Citeh board now. What if Pep’s got a “no Champions League” get out clause?

Is this why we’ve not announced Ronny’s replacement yet??

  8. The Battered Bunnet on

Ah, I see SOAL used the Seoul connection and followed the Ho Chi Min trail.

  10. My visits to CQN have been and will be a bit sporadic due to me cancelling my Telekom contract and using a SIM card in my iPad. I have learned a new lesson recently – the Internet is feckin expensive if you don’t have a landline and a Wifi connection. I blew 1Gb in less than 24 hours @ €15 a pop.

I was supposed to leave Germany on 30th April but extended 3months. A decision I now regret :-(

Never mind we are the Champions which is the only domestic prize that means anything.

    Hail! Hail! PMTYH.

  11. ....PFayr ..SACK THE BOARD on

The team selection and game management in the SC semi final was atrocious

    The players were awful too

    A real team effort

  12. It says a lot that it’s a relief rather than anything else that the league title is sown up.

That said – It’s done. We’ve won, and thats a reason to be happy.

Now the focus must shift to getting the new manager in ASAP. And getting the right manager in. We missed out on getting Slaven Bilic to employ Ronny, which for me is a huge missed opportunity, but, hopefully there’s another manager out there with the right credentials. I really hope that Ronny is excluded from any input into the new appointment. And Peter Lawwell for that matter too. Moneyball as a strategy is not (despite claims to the contrary) well proven, it seems to suit smaller budget teams rather than big hitters. That said, the slavish adherence to any system will see us fail.

Celtic needs her own system. And selling off every single good player we get will see us in a constant unsettled churn. We need to put together a *team*. One of the points from last nights discussions (apart from demonstrating that Setting Free The Bears is a proto-commie in the making ;p) was that Celtic are first and foremost a *football club*. Does Lawwell see that? He seems to see Celtic’s role as simply developing and selling players. And that’s to the continued detriment of the team and the club. Selling players and getting a manager on the cheap has cost us serious amounts of revenue. Revenue we might still have if we’d held onto players. And it may have led to getting more money for players in the future. The lower our status sinks the lower value attributed to our players.

Likewise, Lawwell and co’s continued insistence the league we’re in is rubbish. It’s a cyclic ‘Ratner’ moment – every time we denigrate the league we damage our own club and our achievements. Why not actually talk the league up? All Lawwell references is pounds and pence. I contend they would increase if the perception of us having a great league was there. For example – the championship. It’s division 2 but the talking it up has saw it getting a TV deal way, way better than ours. And still we don’t learn. The only thing the bold Peter can reference with Rangers is “10 million pounds!” – And I really believe he’s covering his tracks with that. Servo work 10 million to us? If that was the case, why didn’t Dermot buy Rangers for 5.5 million when he was able to? Why didn’t the Coolmore mafia? They’d be laughing all the way to the bank. Keep Sevco as sock puppets and pocket the Celtic dosh. Why? Because it’s rubbish.

Anyway. League win good. Full time result OK. Performance typically bad.

    /p

  14. Despite it all Champions again.

    Well done,

Back to my negative self some time later.

  15. Interesting to see the Barca fans tifo display today in the Derby ve Espanyol. The message spelled out ” som hi tots”. This was a reference to the fact that both sides are all in it together as Catalans v the Madrid government.

Can you imagine the Green Brigade getting together with the Manky Mob to do something similar on the OBAF act?

    Celtic-Champions!

  26. A great end to the season, winning the league twice, unofficially at Tynecastle, officially today at Celtic Park.

I think the next Celtic manager will be well satisfied if he can win the league by a 12 point margin.

  27. Beatbhoy, genau!

I don’t really want to leave Germany but my life is going in a different direction now. I uprooted from Scotland, 17 years ago, and brought the wife and the family over here, which we all love(d). She has now gone to Brunei to take up a senior post so it is my duty to follow her now. The kids have all grown so it will just be the 2 auld folks.

My only bugbear is that although I will get beer, etc it won’t be German :-((((

Being retired and a kept man barely bears thinking about ;-)

Still, one last Oktoberfest, number 30, beckons before I complete the move.

    Prost PMTYH

  29. Well that was just CHAMPION. Well until they scored 2 it was. Sums up the season, flashesof brilliance (9 changes V Dundee United, think we scored 6) and dreadfull 0-0 against Dundee a few weeks ago. The last four plus weeks we played the team in 3rd position, home and away and beat them. Today 2nd team in league could not handle us then we gave 2 goals away. Yes an up and down season but ” We Are the Champions”.

Enjoy your day and HAIL HAIL

  31. sixtaeseven - Gardez la Foi on

Happy – obviously – at securing our 5th title on the trot – something we haven’t done in recent history.

We have a great squad – both figuratively as wee as numerically.

That’s fine, but even if we slash the numbers down, do we have a core od players who can be next season’s squad?

If we are talking SPL, OK .

If we are talking Europe, which I hope is the ambition level of our club, big changes are needed.

The next few weeks – hopefully not months – are going to be VERY important for our beloved club!!!

Thanks to all who were in attendance last night – twas a great laugh as it always is.

EDB — sorry I missed you – you had nipped off for a curry not lomng before I arrived. I hope you enjoyed the Directors Box today — thanks for leaving me with Malorbhoy — though to be fair he is great company.

Now, fellow champions, two things of note.

Fisrt anyone interested in a wee trip to Lisbon nect May for a few days to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the greatest team in football winning the big cup should e-mail me at jjoe88@hotmail.co.uk.

I haven’t started looking at costs yet but think of going Wednesday 24th to Sunday 28th or something along those lines.

I will start to look at costs an itineries next weej once I have an idea of numbers.

Next take a wee looky at this. It was sent to me by my son who has been in Louisiana for a year ……

He is the one who I told to stand on his seat when Naka stepped up to take the free kick against Man Utd. As a ten year old he didn’t quite believe me when I said it was definitely going to be a goal ……

Somethings stick in the memory……. Fate is a funny thing don’t you think?

  33. Efe Ambrose when he makes mistakes at the back.and which he did this afternoon. The teams confidence seems to go.and that when the defence seem to get the jitters. 2 goals conceded in that period. Whoever is the next manager. has to move on a few players. I Will not name them.but the ones I’m thinking of are just not good enough for Celtic Football Club.

Have a champion birthday, as for young Callum MacGregor, at first I wasn’t convinced but the Bhoy is showing that I know heehaw about football, his cut back to Lustig was pretty perfect today and I now think we are a better team when Callum starts, still don’t understand his penalty in the semi final, Dallas Dallas has been praising Callum for passing the ball into the net !
