Well at least all the anti-Celtic Celtic fans will be happy, spare us yir mince ya Muppets.

KT and Calmac and Olly get better and better.

Our defence is a shambles at this level of Euro fitba. Same game away in the heat. We will score. Is Bhoyata back please?

  3. Celtic Champs Elect on 8th August 2018 10:02 pm

‘Moussa back next week to partner Eddy both to score’

    From corners?

  4. 67 EUROPEAN CUP WINNERS on 8TH AUGUST 2018 10:01 PM,

Their Goal was Rogic’s fault, stupid challenge at the other end of the pitch. The guy is about to hoof it into the North Stand under pressure, don’t tackle him, naw, free kick to them. Next time we touch it CG is taking it out the net. In SPL you might get away with that etc. etc.

  5. how is it anti celtic when we can see with our own eyes what the board have failed to do for years and telling it like it is

  6. Will tickets be easy to come by next week guys in Athens ?

New boss said I can play any time and watch the Celts whenever I want. He’s even paying for Celtic TV as part of my sign-on for the new job here.

Definitely converted the new boss to the Celts.

  7. i'vehadtochangemymind on

Anybody got a link to their goal ?

We still have a chance – they will think they have it in the bag however they are better than Rosenburg.

  8. Tough ask now. But we have the players to trouble them. Why do we never build from strength. The board r letting us down. Come on celtic. 2 1 To us in Athens

  9. 1-1 is never a bad score in a first leg – for either side.

AEK looked like they were celebrating a bit. They think it’s job done. As would we if we had drawn over there in a first leg.

If Dedryk is available next week I’d play him. Pace is required.

We can beat them. We might not but we can.

Not sure I would blame Rogic for making a tackle well inside their half !!!!

The ball over lustig I would blame Lustig for getting caught out

Either way it was a reflection on a poor defence

For 2 years I thought we were buying a right back !!!!!

    @ ROBERTTRESSELL on 8TH AUGUST 2018 10:08 PM

Would be nice to have your confidence. We demolished Rosenborg at home (and should have score many more) and proceeded to fall apart in Norway.

We are now going to Athens without an advantage against a much better team. The odds of success must be pretty low.

  12. DANSO_1888 on 8TH AUGUST 2018 10:06 PM,

    I’m not blaming the Board.

I’m blaming stupid fitba players WHO:

    Don’t know when to tackle..

    Can’t tackle..

Can’t send a defensive header to their own players under no pressure (Oppos do!)..

    CAN’T TAKE SHY……

  13. Play nice, Athens will be tough and all the BR comments should have been made behind closed doors but they weren’t and we were flat and tired tonight, onto herts at the weekend and get some new faces in just to freshen up the changing room, our Bhoys have had two long seasons without support.

Hail Hail and peace to you all.

  14. 67 EUROPEAN CUP WINNERS on 8TH AUGUST 2018 10:09 PM,

Disagree, if Rogic just put pressure on , we have possession in their half therefore, they don’t score.

As I said in SPL, fine, Europe, punished.

  15. What is CQN’s Purpose?

It says it isn’t lazy journalism.

Wouldn’t it be more accurate to have the strap line

“Pulling the wool over your eyes since 2003”

    Or

“Distracting you from the real stories”

    Pathetic.

  16. Not even commenting on the tie other than I thought AEK were a very good technical, counter attacking team, who could defend seriously well. Life’s mysteries: Why does Lustig walk back into the team : where is Gamboa: where is comper: where is Griffiths: why was Svaitchenko allowed to leave: Is Biton still not fit, why all the anguish about McGinn- decent player who the mejia have hyped up. No big deal where he goes IMHO , not fussed over Roberts either, didn’t want to stay. How do teams like AEK ( and others with a smaller budget than us) manage to recruit technically gifted players. ( in fairness Ntcham and Rogic Calmac tend to be good whilst KT is outstanding)

  17. Is Ajer suspended for Tuesday? If he is our CB pairing will be Hendry & Jozo. Still think it probable big Boyata will be offski

    CELTARELLA on 8TH AUGUST 2018 9:46 PM

Awe you Lawwell orifice lickers can shove it where the sun don’t shine and you know who you are. Historic day for Celtic. Soul of the club at stake when we can’t even sign a Hibs player. Awe the Huns this and the Huns this and the Huns the next thing. Shouldn’t even be in the equation since 2012. Europa league till Christmas ya hun lovers.

    Agree completely.

Lawwels biscuit tin just came back to haunt him. But he won’t care he still gets paid and a free seat every other week. Laughing behind your backs all the way to the bulging biscuit tin.

  20. Don’t worry Bhoys, Paul told us they hadn’t properly prepared for this game, hadn’t played any meaningful football since May and our fitness and sharpness would give us the advantage.

So there they were, for all to see, tired and run-ragged, down to 10 men for most of the second half and collapsing with cramp all over the field . . .

Meanwhile in a parallel universe, AEK looked comfortable on the ball, well organised and disciplined.

Apart from overdoing the theatrics, they actually were a pretty clean and fair team too.

They had the measure of us tonight. Dembele might have made the difference as OE did not play well at all.

I’d start LG in Athens if he manages to stay fit. His movement causes problems. Leave SS at home with a DVD of his first season to remind him of how good he is.

  21. mike in toronto on

    My take on tonight …

we looked to have better players … KT looked a class above everyone else on the park …

but they were a better coached team on the night ……

they all knew what they had to do to defend as a team ….we looked like a bunch of players, who didn’t know how to attack as a team ….

some will say that it is easier to set up a team to defend, and that isnt entirely wrong … but, we knew coming in that they had a reputation for defending deeply and in numbers … it was up to us to figure out a system to crack their system …

    we didn’t have that tonight.

but, I still think we could knick this one in Greece … not sure this tie is over yet.

  22. NEGANON2 on 8TH AUGUST 2018 10:15 PM

    What is CQN’s Purpose?

To allow you, me and various others to spout nonsense which, in the grand scheme of things means nowt.

    It’s the bloody internet FFS…

  23. succulentlambstinks on

Leave SS at home with a DVD of his first season to remind him of how good he is.

Past tense. How good he was. He cares more about his hair than he does playn for Celtic. Sack him sack lustig pronto.

  24. Just back from CP as Scotrail finally get their act together.

That was a fairly good performance from most of our team But it was a Really Poor Result.

And the really Poor Result trumps the decent play when it comes to setting our mood.

We did enough to win that game comfortably, apart from our penalty box composure. Plenty of crosses but they were all zipped through untouched, played to areas where no players were attacking, or bobbling about between legs looking for a fortunate sclaff to fall our way.

The Greeks were decent, but 2nd best in all aspects of play except in being cynical and streetwise. We saw Kieran, Jamesie, Sinky and Callum regularly beat their men and deliver a ball but there was no satisfactory end result. Tonight, we were the only home team not to win out of the 3 ties. However, only Salzburg and Zagren have really secured their tie in the first leg. Every other game is up for grabs- ours too.

But we have placed ourselves as clear 2nd favourites now- it will take another good performance but this time, with end result.

  25. glendalystonsils on

Lustig may have been caught out by the initial diagonal ball but he could still have blocked the cross instead of turning away when the ball was crossed. Unfortunately Ajer and Hendry were in no man’s land , totally unaware of the unmarked scorer in the middle.

A team is only as good as the sum of it’s parts. Some parts of our team are excellent but other parts are not the required standard for this level of football. But then we knew that. We also knew to expect a tougher qualification process this season.

I think we will have to win the away leg now ,to go through which may be beyond us, but we certainly need to bolster the defence.

  26. mike in toronto on

With his booking tonight, Ajer is suspended for the next game …. we better hope Boyata is still here next week.

  27. i'vehadtochangemymind on

Denia – yeah OE was very flat tonight : can’t say that about all the team. Was it starting with Tr , did e miss MD or was it just a bad day at the office? Anyway – we’ll find out Tuesday

Thought we played really well in the first half bar their goal, they had

our measure second half even with ten men, goal’s change games

you could see the effect the equaliser had on both sides,if we can

get the first goal over there you never know.

Not a good day for Celtic but we’ve had worse, away to bed keep it civil.

  29. BIG-CUP-WINNERS on

    Funny old game.

Treble winners To lack of preparedness in the CL treasure trove qualifier.

Found Brendan’s “get it on record” revelations telling. And this perhaps set the tone for a stilted atmosphere in the ground.

Greece is a place for a brave team to go and show what they have.

    I worry about Brendan’s interview.

Can’t believe people on here criticising any opinion they don’t like and directing personal insults at the poster. Reminds me of school yard bullying!
