CELTIC v AJAX IN CHASE FOR WHIZZKID

1

CELTIC will face fierce opposition from Ajax in their pursuit of West Ham winger Grady Diangana.

The 22-year-old prospect is currently on loan at Championship outfit West Brom and played in last night’s goalless draw with Fulham at The Hawthorns.

It has been reported Hoops boss Neil Lennon has already made initial enquiries about the availability of the exciting forward, according to The Herald, and while there has also been interest attributed to Steven Gerrard.

Diangana’s future is unlikely to be resolved before the end of the English season, but the Parkhead gaffer is keen to add some strength to the squad’s flanks after the exits of Scott Sinclair, Lewis Morgan, Jonny Hayes, Daniel Arzani and Calvin Miller since the turn of the year.

There is also a question mark over the future of Ukrainian Marian Shved who made only three substitute appearances for the champions last season.

The player’s preference is to stay at the club, but his priority for next season is to continue playing regular first-team football and if that is unlikely to be the case at Davie Moyes’ club.

Promotion-chasing West Brom are keen to bring Diangana back to the club next term after his successful spell this time around.

Dutch giants Ajax have now been alerted to the possibilities of getting the youngster on a loan – or permanent – deal next year.

Both Celtic and the Amsterdam club can offer Diangana European football and the forward has admitted he is eager to test himself at the highest level possible.
