  1. Question

Is it time for a shake up in our Board ? Without being ageist

Ian Bankier is 65, Dermot Desmond is 67, Brian Wilson is 68 & Tom Allison is 69

Would this make a difference in challenging the current FtSFA set up, and acceptance of Newco ??

Peter Lawell 58, Sharon Brown 48 & Chris McKay 42

Only asking if a younger board would challenge this differently ?

And no idea on who would or could replace any of current board, but there will be high flying and ambitious Celtic minded business people out there ?

As expected, polite & informative response

The “annoyance” part is where I think the main problem is, again the work you and the others have done is very much appreciated by many (unfortunately not by enough)

    Definitely bedtime

    Hail Hail fellow Celts

  3. I hope I am not alone on CQN about being deeply suspicious of the postings on JohnJames site.

It seems to me that the site has been a regular series of “wet dream’ scenarios of what is going on at Ibrox. The final crunch for me was the “getting water from the local chapel” story. All of us prepared to believe that they just might “steal” water should surely be severely sceptical of the idea that they would steal it from a Catholic church. No! – that is too much icing on an over-rich cake. How would a church not see the difference in water bills for a once a week used building that only needs water for baptismal fonts and a building that hosts 50k of people at times with concomitant lavatirial needs.

Even the language used to fescribe his fellow bears and supporters of the team that he used to support, are deeply demeaning and beligerrent. They sound like the descriptions that a Celtic fan would use towards them.

I am very suspicious of this site and I think I have evidenced good reason to be so. When he says he has seen evidence that DD has colluded with the SFA in a cover up but will not disclose that evidence, then it sounds as though he is playing with our paranoia. We are all prepared to believe that DD can play dirty in business dealings and that this might extend to not dealing with them as they deserve but, instead, choosing to keep them limping along and vulnerable. But is he really that influential in this process? It seems to me that most Scottish football chairmen were willing to accomodate a version of Rangers in the top league and that they were scared of the economic consequences of them going.

And yet, go they did, to the lower leagues , following fan pressure. At that point, what hold does the continuity myth have over all of those chairmen? There is no economic benefit to them believing this once Sevco entered Div. 3. They all know that it will be 3 promotions before they can enjoy the bigot pound again. Did they really believe that all Rangers fans would have walked away if they declared they were a new club then. I have more faith in fans of the old club than that. A few glory hunters would have walked away but most would have rallied round , just as we would have. We are not that different in our fanaticism towards our club- it is other values that differentiate us.

So I worry about the message from SFM, Phil and, even CQN getting poisoned by association with the wilder fantasies and wish-fulfillment of the John James site. Whatever he is selling- I am not buying.

P.S. None of this means that DD has not behaved nefariously- just that John James is the last man whose word I would take at face value.

I agree with you – hard as hell to forgive those bstrds

On other matters – the ole Largs coast looked like a christamas Card when I sailed back from Bute today – enjoy the coast

  5. With the Celtic Board the elder members provide experience and contacts. They are not Executives. Their role is oversight and advice. If they are “compus mentis” then these ages don’t count them out.

The younger members are Executives and experienced ones at that.

Even younger Executives would be unlikely to have the depth of Experience to step into major Executive roles at Celtic

I expect Peter Lawwell to be here for the 10 in a row and then maybe retire as CEO. I wouldn’t be surprised that he wouldn’t take over as Chairman in a non Executive capacity.

  6. Few small prayers required if you are so inclined.

My dad currently in hospital after a stroke this morning. No need to clog the blog though. Just a few silent prayers and thoughts in his direction would be good.

  7. Odsonne will start on Tuesday i would think with Leigh half fit and Moussa’s head in the clouds. I like Eddie, he is very raw as you would expect from not only a young guy but one who hasn’t played a lot of professional football. He works extremely hard, much harder than the other two. His hold up play, first touch and general link up play is good and his movement outside of the box is outstanding. His movement inside the box isn’t so good but that can be worked on as can his finishing. Given a run of games he will score goals, it’s whether he can sniff out the goals that really matter that will decide our success and his future. One thing you notice about Eddie and Ntcham, you can see the way these young French guys have been coached from an early age, it really is top drawer.

  8. thetimreaper,

I was very impressed by Kouassi’s positional sense when he came on. He has such an engine on him, it almost seems like a waste to have him playing defensive mid – in Scotland anyway!!!!

I agree about the French lads. Oli was easily, for me, the MOTM Saturday, although strangely he was less effective when the Broonie went off.

  9. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Moonbeams, I hope your dad pulls through without any long lasting after effects of his stroke.

There is a tweet in etimstwitter from Jack Aitchison saying his dad passed away today.

  10. thomthethim for Oscar OK on

I said last night, after the game, that Forrest’s continual incursions infield created congestion in the area where Eduoard should have been operating.

Cutting in from the wing should be an option, not a positional requisit.

  11. setting free the bears for Res. 12 & Oscar Knox on 21st January 2018 10:35 pm

I’ve checked and JJ did not introduce the DD element.

There were two separate posts by Henr1k the first a DD rumour the second following (not sure who posted it) was a copy paste from the JJ site with no mention of DD.

If there is another one from JJ on DD I haven’t seen it.

Just in the interests of accuracy, not about the content of your post.

  12. MWD –

Will say a wee prayer for your dad. Hope all turn out as well as it can.

  13. SFTB

    Fair enough.

Any thoughts on Celtic’s reluctance to deal with res 12 and the SFA in particular?

  14. Celtarella

Yes- I don’t understand it and, therefeore, remain suspicious of how slowly they are moving.

I still hope to be proven wrong and they are playing some clever long game that I cannot discern but, at this point in time, It looks less like masterful non-interruption and more like having been outmanouevred and accepting it.

  15. MWD,

Hope your Dad is OK. Prayer said for him.

    COWIEBHOY

As a matter of interest, would you know how many Celtic supporters are on the Celtic board?
