Nobody is coming with bags of money to change our lot.

Sack the manager and all you get is a new scapegoat.

Sack the CEO and all you get is someone else to carry out the strategy.

Get rid of DD through protest and you get some other owner or majority shareholder to try to make a silk purse out of the sows ear that is Scottish football.

Fans are voting with their feet for a lot of reasons- cost,,,

Soukous, Ronny Deila took Stromso from also ran at Johnstone style club to champions and improved them year on year, finishing as champions not mid table.

That said, the results so far don’t point to him being able to improve Celtic. No one knows if you need to go back the way to improve at football. Paul le Guen tried a different way at Ibrox. Wim played defensively and won through. Dr jo tried something slightly different but didn’t have the resources… We’ve never really tried to go outside of our box in terms of improving or trying a different way. I really don’t know how long you give Ronny as there is no benchmark but I wouldn’t like to think we would sacrifice this years league for it.

My guess is we couldn’t afford to slip more than 10 points behind before the half way stage.

Have to agree 100% with your assessment of todays game,10 chances created to score while we lost to a ricochet!

Guidetti could have had a hat-trick,Stokes`criminal misses with 2 headers, but the chance he had just before we lost the goal when he was through on goal and hit it first time into the keepers hands? 99 times out of a 100 he would chest that to cushion the ball before rolling it into the net!! this was down to the players and they should not be let off the hook,it pains me to say it but Commons is fast becoming the liability that other teams pick out and use against us to spring their counter attacks, his poor ball retention kills us.

  6. We may be run very professionally off the park but on if we’re amateur hour run amok!

Ronnie might have made a very good first team coach – with his excellent ideas on fitness and diet however he is miles out of his depth as a manager!

Football is a simple game – win the middle of the park and most times you win the game

Continually playing two against 3 or 4 is a recipe for disasters like today

This was Hamilton Accies who had not won at CP since 1938!

With a bit more composure they could have won by more than one goal!

Such an embarrassment should cost someone their job.

Results like today will continue as long as we persist with such a ludicrous system- at times today we were playing 2-2-6 – the six often being strung in a static line !

We then took off our one remotely physical striker and proceeded to play more crosses than we had done all day!

The panic of sticking our CB up to CF for the last few minutes – then throwing the GK up for a corner would have been laughable if it was not so tragic!

This was Hamilton Accies in a league match not Barca in the CL!

Time for the club to do what it should have done in the summer – appoint a real professional manager with experience in a professional league

We do not have six years to wait around to see if RD can learn on the job!

Unfortunately I fear that we will allow this farce to continue until even the suits recognise that this experiment isn’t working!

An excellent post that sums up many of our problems. Stokes can’t even take an effective corner! What does that say for training sessions? He either hits the first defender or knocks it far too long. In any case, we usually fail to have someone on the far post to take advantage of his “skills”. Problems crossing the ball from open play and when we do, no one getting into the striking area. A good reason to take off Guidetti….NOT. Poor selection, shape and tactics. Can it get worse? HMmmmmmh

  9. I do chuckle when I read posts regarding certain players……..the latest one is tonev …..Nearly every Celtic fan that saw any of villa’s games which he was involved in last season said the same thing……….thank xxxk we didn’t get him………lo and behold …we get him

Another in a long line of absolute junk………I really am starting to believe there might be a hun behind all these awful dreadfully awful signings……

By the way Charlie Mulgrew wasn’t playing today !!!!

  10. The appointment of an unknown manager from an unknown league was a gamble. Let there be no debate about that. Do we now keep doubling our stake after each loss in the belief that it will come good in the long run and it will all be worth it? Or do we cut our losses and run? Everyone can and will make up their own mind how that gamble is currently working out and how long they will stick with that system.

    Champions League Qualification (Last Season)

We qualified last season and we picked up the CL riches. Some might argue that qualification is the extent of our ambition. It wasn’t pretty against the likes of Karagandy and equally ugly in the group stages too. But even so, we brought 15 million quid into the club coffers that could have been used to strengthen the first team eleven for this season.

    Champions League Qualification (This season)

We failed miserably in two attempts at CL qualification. The unknown manager gamble contributed somewhat to the loss of 15 to 20 million quid of CL cash. Everyone is entitled to assess in their own mind how much Ronny contributed to the CL failure(s). Everyone can decide for themselves if it was inevitable that we would crash out in embarrassing circumstances or if CL qualification could reasonably be expected under different circumstances/leadership. Either way the club is down by 15 million quid and will find it difficult to strengthen the first team next season without that CL cash.

    Champions League Qualification (Next season)

So far, the new signings and loanees have not settled particularly well and unfortunately, most seem to be of a standard similar to last season where so many poor quality signings didn’t reach the standard required. Looking forward ,will Ronny improve these new Celts so that they reach a standard where we can achieve CL qualification next season or are we now perpetually doomed to EL standard and EL cash. Another season of CL qualification failure would accelerate the downwards spiral significantly. The revenue at Celtic would not be that much higher than at Ibrox.

    Domestic (Last Season)

Last season virtually the same Celtic side went through the domestic league campaign almost undefeated, however as long as there were no govanites around, it could reasonably be argued that this was no great achievement since the Celtic resources, vastly outweighed the combined resources of all the Scottish opponents, despite this massive financial advantage we failed to translate the financial advantage into “on the pitch” advantage and again failed to secure the elusive treble. We did end the season with money in the bank though!

    Domestic (this Season)

As a club we always faced stern and vile opposition, and while the huns were around, it was very dangerous to take a gamble, the Govanites very quickly punished any sign of weakness in paradise.

The govanites are not around this season therefore we do have breathing space to get things wrong, although it would be hard to believe that there are Celtic fans around today who could contemplate losing the domestic title in a hun free season. Things are not so bad yet that I think Ronny could lose a one horse race, but unless we see improvement soon (and consistency) domestic failure could be a horrible thought and a massive shot in the arm for sevco. It’s a gamble alright.

    Domestic (next Season)

Many will say we should be consolidating and strengthening our first team in preparation for the arrival of the hun hordes. It’s likely that a weakened version of the sevconians will be around next season. Are a weakened huns good enough to punish a Celtic side also weakened by failed gambles, continued player sales and loss of CL revenue? Will the sevconians still be so weak that they can’t punish a Celtic side still in some form of rebuilding or transition stage and still selling our best players? Without CL revenues our current gaping financial advantage would be reduced. .

My own thoughts on the clubs conservative approach over the past decade are very well known on here and are regularly questioned.

I don’t know what attendance we are claiming yesterday but it looked like 20,000. Midweek in a Euro League tie the attendance was similar.

When The bunnet was here we build something, we were a club on the rise, in terms of attendances and success, but today we should be asking ourselves

Is Ronny an undiscovered genius from a minnow league or just another stage in cutting quality.

Will selling our best players season after season be enough to compensate for loss of CL revenue or empty seats?

Is downsizing the only way forward for Glasgow Celtic.

    Is there no other option?

Are we currently building something or are we systematically destroying something?
