Would your reliance on statistics suggest that we maybe should have beaten a mediocre middle of the road Slovenian at home and progressed into the group stages of the Champions League

Neil Lennon was still in three competitions this time last season he won one

Nothing at Celtic Park just now to suggest that Ronny Deila will give us a better return

Sir you are obviously more tolerant than me

I respect your position – but have you considered the the enormous lift this would give the dead club (and more worryingly their hoards)

Not winning the league this year 14/15 would be our worst moment

  3. Ronny was indeed quick to leave at the end of the game, going up the tunnel like a rat up a drainpipe. Was it anger?, frustration?….or getting the hell out of Dodge before he got pelters?

It would also be the biggest boost for Scottish football since Aberdeen won the European Cup Winners Cup. How bad would that be in the great scheme of things?

As somebody posted earlier, Scottish football is a decaying corpse.

Say Aberdeen or DU win the league what chance of getting through the CL or even EL qualifiers? How does that help the coefficient?

The simple truth is that the league is only competitive because we are going backwards to meet the pack.

Any manager that puts one more player in the middle of the park is a better manager than 1 that keeps coming back with the same results no matter the competition.

Time and again we fetched and then carried to the edge of Hamiltons defence. Not once did anyone think to drop in front of the centre circle and string a few passes together there. Instead we pushed wide again and again for Efe or izzy to give it to them.

  6. BTW.Deila would have to win 11 out of the next 12 games to equal John Barnes record. Including for Deila, 2 games against an Icelandic pub team and Barnes had to play the financially corrupt Orcs at the zenith of their cheating. Just a thought….

They tried a new continental route, because the brand is damaged and has been since back when they back baulked at Guus Hiddink’s transfer demands.

*whit…I was in a sports bar in Havana when CNN Spanish announced that Guus would be the next Celtic manager….he had accepted the role until the Kaiser stepped in and demanded MON be given it……that worked out though but prior to MON he wanted Joe Kinnear.

Celtic were bad today but I would be criticizing the players especially Tony Stokes before the manager he can assist the opposition in scoring goals but can’t head in a sitter, a big handicap too the team I’d say.

My picture was fine never cut out but I think they should have cleaned the lenses better. Ronni Deila should get the sack for that.

Still we might yet see 60000 for a game at Celtic park this season to push us for the league against the odds our management and board seem content to load in favour of inept competition. Even the boos were half hearted… Folk more interested on what was for Sunday dinner than a goal or a piece of skill.

I remember someone (SFTB or somebody else) laughing when I suggested John Hughes would be a better appointment than Deila, I wonder if they are still laughing.

*don’t want that soup taker anywhere near Celtic Park…..and I’m not just talking about his recent “coisty and the lads” comment……while playing for us against the deid team he was all over the FGB laughing and joking with him…giving him big hugs at the end…meanwhile the thug was running around elbowing all our players.

  11. The problems stem from the very top at the club.

    This trickles downwards.

We are a shambles from Dermot Desmond right down to Sceptovic.

I have been Dermot Desmond’s biggest fan .

He has lost his drive as far as Celtic is concerned.

I stated it last season .

He had to re- energise the club.

    Lead from the front.

    Make some big decisions.

The Moneyball plan is not working.

This is the weakest top Scottish league in my almost 51 years on this earth.

We are in 6th position .

Those stating that we are witnessing an improvement in the league are blind.

Just look at the pathetic results achieved by Scottish Clubs in Eurooe over the last 2 seasons.

The top half of the stadium is closed when we play a EL side.

The ground is 2/3 empty for a cup tie against a Hearts side.

We are shrivelling as a club.

The standard of scouting , management and playing staff is at a level not seen since Lou Macari was in charge.

This shambles has to stop .

Dermot Desmond has to take decisive action.

“We are currently 6th. in a league that does not include Sevco, Hearst and Hibs.”

Baffled by that to be honest.

Hearts and Hibs were both relegated last season, which means they are not good enough to be in the top flight. While Hearts did have a handicap, they also had a lengthy run, about 12 weeks, when they only won one match.

Celtic comfortably beat Hearts a couple of weeks ago in the League Cup. Hearts are six points clear of Sevco, who have never even been in our league with their highly paid journeymen.

Fair to say that all is not well with Celtic at the moment, but if those three clubs were in our league we’d be no worse off.

    The title decider v Deidclub.

  14. He’s won four from eight in the SPFL and seven from 17 in all competitions. .

look at it this way, if Ronny is still here at the start of next season, we will still be a team in transition (even if the players are skinnier or not)

the new signings are guff. The team still needs an overhaul, the loaness will return and big septic is useless. Do we trust Ronny enough to give him another chance. Sevco must be looking forward to next season all of a sudden.

  15. Good afternoon all.

Not long in from the game. A total shambles and a complete disjointed performance. Imho Hamilton deserved their win, even although I hate to admit it. But we will still wake up Celtic Supporters tomorrow and I’ll be back a week on Thursday cheering us on. KTF.

Everone’s opinion on here is based on statistics. If Celtic had won 6-1 today, do you think there would be a wealth of posters demanding the end for him?

I’m not sure, but if you look back at CQN after the 6-1 defeat of Dundee Utd, I’m sure there were not many calling for his head, even though I’d call that result a statistical blip.

Me?, well I don’t know if RD is a good ‘un or not yet. But I certainly think, statistically speaking, whilst he is in four competitions (which statistically is the most he can actually win in a season) he must be given time.

Heard the Hamilton owner yesterday talking about their academy and how they regularly take them down south and cuff EPL academy teams. Cant help wondering in these no sevco days why we havent brought through guys that were used tp playing together and winning everything together rather than project after loan after project. Celtic just now are not joined up. Between players and manager and between players and players the togetherness is just not there. Hamilton have inferior players but from top to bottom they were all joined up and that made the difference.

6 points off the top. 6th in the league. Something is far wrong behind the scenes and that is apparent on the park.

I’m more concerned about the huns in our boardroom than the huns across the city. They could not possibly survive not retaining the league title and that opens up the likelihood that they would be replaced by people who see the club’s primary objective to support the team and not the other way round. I am far from tolerant to those who choose to destroy the fabric of the club from within. If the only way of getting rid of them is the ignominy of not winning the league, I could just about bear it.

You bar in Havanna sounds good, and CNN were ahead of the game. Guus Hiddink was never confirmed but has since outlined he thought he was “well down the road”

Do you think ‘the kaiser” whom I assume you mean Dermot Desmond, chose Ronny as ahead of Peter, as well as vetoing Guus Hiddink? – back in the day.

If he did, he’s got some balls for a golfer.

We may never know, and we have what we have i.e. multiple dropped points to the Lanarkshire Brigades, but hey ho mega competition, and nae Sevco.

    Maybe that’s the plan.

  22. Right, heard enough of this guff.

You happy clappers, Lawwell backers are responsible fir this shambles .

YOU and YOU alone have back clapped him in his downsizing walk to destruction.

    Shame on u

  23. Of course doubts are going to start to creep in now.

The thing I believe to be the biggest issue is the continual selection of Kris Commons.

In our system, the number 10 is a vital role. Whilst KC has scored some goals, the negatives far outweigh the positives.

We have 2 wingers so to avoid the midfield being over run, we need our 10 to contribute in there. He should be pivotal to our attacking play also.

KC plays as a striker instead. A lazy one at that. When he does receive the ball he needs to be in space as his first touch is woeful. In his role he is seldom in space. Therefore our moves breakdown.

I always laugh when people tell me he scores a lot of goals from midfield. He is no more a midfielder than Guidetti or Griffiths.

We can’t press effectively with him there either.

  24. mullet and co 2 on

Today wasn’t so different from a lot of other games post Europe versus a Hamilton. They parked the bus, they scored 1 of 2 chances, we missed a lot, pressed forward a lot. I’m sure we won a few more of those types of games in the past though.

    Celtic need two games.

One for the games like today

    One for games in Europe.

Ronny so far isn’t very good at either.

  28. Just in from the game. This Armageddon stuff is exciting isn’t it.

Come on. We’ve all seen many games where we could play all day and not score. Not just under this manager but evey other previous manager.

Blame the manager? Not this time. Ok he picked the team and made the subs. But he didn’t instruct his players to miss multiple chances. Nor did he tell them to concede a freak goal.

Where I will criticise Deila is in sticking with Stokes and Commons. Continued to do so would be his downfall.

Like the booers, I didn’t agree with his removal of Guidetti (I didn’t boo) but I assume it was due to injury as Guidetti was hobbling about leading up to the substitution.

Efe and Izzy leave something to be desired in terms of their crossing ability. But the provided enough of reasonable to good quality to expect someone to get on the end of them. Contrast that with Stokes’ inability to hit a ball which isn’t moving and where he is not under pressure from defenders when taking a corner, or should I say corners. Abysmal.

Denayer (one bad mistake apart), VVD and Johansen were the positives. I would add Gordon to that but he didn’t really have anything to do.

Guidetti LOOKS the part but didn’t deliver when given the chance. Surely it will happen.

Brown was less involved that normal or in fact needed.

My overall impression is that we are still playing too safe. Until we lost a goal we rarely tried the difficult thing. Certainly both wide men NEVER took on the full back and got to the line. James Forrest anyone?

Ach well. I’m forever the optimist and believe this may be the start of an upward turn that takes us to the top in 6 weeks.

  31. the glorious balance sheet on

    Back home from the game.

This was not a freak result.

Hamilton should have scored inside 20 seconds when Imrie inexplicably had a fresh air swipe when all he had to do was to shin the ball into the net after Ambrose had allowed the Hamilton attacker to swing a cross in from our right hand side.

For the rest of the first half Hamilton were comfortable as we laboured in a performance that was an indentikit of the Motherwell and Maribor first halfs at Celtic Park.

We lack goal threat against any level of opposition:- Legia, Maribor, Inverness, Motherwell, Dundee, Hamilton. These are not giants of world football but they have all avoided defeat against us thanks to our inability to score. When Stokes is the great white hope up front, why is anyone surprised by that?

Deila has been dealt a rubbish hand. Very little money to buy his own players, incoming strikers only sorted out on deadline day, and the rump of the team made up of players on loan or going out of contract at the end of the season. Most won`t be here next year and are simply passing time. The blame for that lies with the CEO.

Nonetheless, the same mistakes are being made on the park. Failure to start with any kind of spark and tempo for 2 home league games running. There is no sign of active management – today Stokes hit 2 corners that both failed to clear the first defender. That should have been him off set pieces. But no, he was allowed to continue to monopolise – and ruin – set pieces for the entire game.

And then we were treated to the sight of van Dijk being put up front for the last 5 minutes once again as he had with Maribor. Desperate stuff.

Deila was not given enough support to get through the CL qualifiers. But what he has should still be enough for comfort in the SPFL. The way things are right now I think we are fighting for our lives to win the league.

Deila is not up to the job. Unfortunately he is supported by scouts and coaches that aren`t up to their job either, and was appointed by a CEO who is no longer up to his job. A collective failure.

  32. I seen Lawell was surrounded by a mob in the main stand at the end of the game giving him dogs abuse. Wonder if this will lead to change? Doubt it.
