  1. For all Ronny is getting slaughtered and he deserves a fair bit of it, but when you really think about it, BR has the same players playing for him, the same players that weren’t playing for Ronny.

RD obviously didny have the respect, the whys and wherefors are for another day.

Thanks DD for getting us a proper manager whom the players respect.

  3. Rudi – I think that comment about HBS is a disgrace and I would ask any moderators looking in to delete it. Anti Semitism to add to your islamophobia.

  4. Hi lads not been on for sometime, just back home, however what relief and pleasure to see the team bounce back from a setback to whom I put fully on the Goalkeeper again. For Gods sake, the Cardinal Sin, near post and it squirms past him, same against Astana Header to opposition, thank God BR has brought in a keeper, get him stripped, lost any faith in Craig, bombscare whenever the ball is approaching his area, although he shocked me twice tonight, when he made the effort to come out to collect the ball.He had her haw to do in the first half and low and behold he can’t complete there first effort , which gave them the momentum to really give it a go, where we lost it. On the positive we have given ourselves a good chance to go through only if we screw the bobbin and cut out the poor defending , which Brendan mentioned in his report on the radio. Hope all you QNSers are keeping well and onwards and upwards.

Ray – forgot about paddy r.

More to the point, who will he replace in the team? I thought the team performed brilliantly, and no one deserves to be dropped. James Forrest ran riot – really enjoyed his game tonight. Sinclair is a must play too…

All in, it’s much better to be wondering who to drop than hoping he’s fit in time. Good place to be on the team front!

I think he’s happy with forwards this window, but he won’t be happy with the two quick goals 2nd half although players still to come back from injury

Still think he will change the midfield but who knows?

  6. Robert Tressell and your 90 years out of date philantrophic ragged trouserness…..

No problem mate….Got lots of The Broons annuals in my garage

  7. MoonbeamsWD…

I reckon this team might even go on and win the League Cup.

You’re mistaken. Super soaraway Rangers International are going to win it. I mean, they have Joey Barton!

Warburton is packing his team full of pensioners….AHEM… experience!…..

    ……..of the English lower divisions. :D :D :D

That said, Joey is right about him and Brendan Rogers not moving in the same circles – Joey likely prefers gold teeth so he can sell them for snout in prison. That or the smoking ban has meant pub and eateries are out for stubbing cigars out in youth players eyes. Poor Joey, always the bridesmaid and never the bride.

  8. Harsh to blame Gordon for that first goal, it was a powerful shot near post quick. Sure you’d hop for a save but Id never blame the keeper especially after all that went before him

  15. Some great goals against a fairly tidy side. Brown, Griffiths, Forrest really good. Rogic good but faded. Sinclair a few heavy touches but always dangerous and dragged them around. Dembele and Biton good when they came on. Tierney good going forward. Lustig and Toure solid enough but gave me the odd conniption when they decided to maraud forward. O’Connell decent but at fault for the goal. McGregor a good game but could also have snuffed out the first goal. Gordon could maybe have saved the first, maybe not.

The return leg still looks nervy and exciting though as the current defence does look likely to ship goals whilst we look like scoring. I don’t know yet if Brendan Rogers has the tactics or the uninjured manpower to get a clean sheet away.

  18. Poor tactics in leaving an inexperienced back-line of Macgregor, O’Conell and Tierney at the corner which lead to their goal. Similar goals were lost last season – but that was the manager’s fault. A similar narrative is not permitted this season: just ask Chris Sutton.

Sutton is entitled to his opinion, I genuinely believe he wants the best for Celtic

He was right to say at 3-2 that the team on tha park have been here before and didn’t see it out

The difference tonight was the confidence Brendan instilled in the team with positive attacking substitutions which was the opposite from the RD tactics in a similar situation

    ————

You can’t have it both ways either Brendan has transformed the team or he hasn’t, picking and choosing what parts are Ronny’s fault is pretty poor

    ________________________________

My point is that RD would not have gone 442 at 3-2

He would have tried to see out the game in defensive mode whereas Brendan made positive attack minded substitutions which sent the right message to the team on the park that we are going to score again

Don’t know what your getting at with can’t have it both ways, every commentator this season makes the same observation that RD was too predictable and unwilling to change formation whereas Brendan changes in play 2 or 3 times in a game depending on how the game is progressing

  22. I see the lad Shane Duffy scored another 2 own goals tonight, followed by a red card. The only times I’ve ever heard him mentioned is for either of the above acts. I truly hope the ‘link’ with this fella was nonsense.

    #worsethanefe

  23. I think Craig Gordon is a good goalkeeper, too many on here ready to jump on his slightest mistake.

When I think of our keepers in the past I’m more than happy with him between our sticks.

If there is someone we can afford that’s better fine, time will tell.

Anyways, no dampener from me tonight, I’ll float to my kip tonight…

You’ve totally missed the whole flow of Sutton’s comments and ergo your backing him.

Sutton – what a great team Celtic are now, Ronny never had this, BR is great

What about Leigh’s interview …. followed by Wee Strachan’s studio reaction?

Can’t help but feel WGS is a bit of a snob.

    ———————————————————————————–

he’s a man with high morals and a certainty about what he believes to be right and wrong. a man of principles in a game where they are in short supply

    ———————————————————————————–

    celtic40me,

    I agree with that fully.

But I’m afraid I have doubts about his ability to NURTURE guys who may not initially be up to his moral standards…..but have raw ability on a pitch.

Obviously I’m thinking of Derek O’Riordan….whose career more or less finished after being signed by Gordon Strachan.

I can’t help but think that Leigh’s career might have floundered the same way if Gordon had been in charge.

The style of Leigh’s goals tonight were straight out of an era when football was enjoyable to watch.

    Who nurtured that development?

I think Brendan has Ronnie to thank for that.

No big statements…..that was the best match I’ve watched in recent times.

he’s also a giant of a man as a person

What a roller coaster tonight. Rodgers’ team really knows how to go after a team. Great attacking flair, so many options. We’re going to score so many goals this season. Hapoel couldn’t live with us. Then we conceded two out of nowhere. Still, great bottle and character to recover our tempo after switching off. When Craig redeemed himself with the save at 4-2 I was cast back nearly 30 years to the gut wrench of Partizan Belgrade and the wee guy in the black tights and gloves…. Better outcome tonight. Salutations to Brendan and the boys.

Oh and just read Proddy Forsyth’s report in the Torygraph. Talk about a hurtin’ Hun….

  31. Anyway….will let you guys go back to salivating at playing the Cheating Huns in September(with the kudos of telling your mates ‘ahm a Celtic season ticket holder so ah Um’),being champagne socialists and knowing your place in a backward parochial country……
