  1. Celtic supporters.

Can’t do this, can’t do that, it’s the rules, they make the rules, play their game.

Most of yous will be happy to bend over and let the hun establishment shaft you big time, it’s a hun agenda and you are swallowing it big time.

It’s a flag FFS, not rioting, not cheating, not stealing, not killing, it’s flying a flag.

    Hey , pal.

It has been my opinion for years that the Celtic Trust are the puppeteers of the G.B.

    ——

And I’ve addressed this several times before, long before I became involved in the Trust, that this was absolute nonsense.

You’ve never presented one solitary piece of evidence to support what really is an utterly ridiculous claim.

    ========================================================================

    Evidence.

Jeanette Findlay spoke at a rally in George Sq. shortly after the kettling of G.B. members.

Are you suggesting that there was absolutely no connection between these two events ?

Can you vouch for the fact that there is absolutely no tactical relationship between the Celtic trust and the G.B. in any way , shape or form ?

Is it a coincidence that they have virtually the same political agenda ?

    ——————————————————————————————————

I attended the rally you mention, but have no connection with the GB, it was a rally against the criminisation of football supporters via OBAF Act, not in support of the GB.

Jeanette Findlay is part of the CST, and looks after the interests of its members, of which I am one, some of those fellow members were “kettled”, so JF was involved.

There is no evidence in that statement that links CST and the GB in any formal way.

UEFA do see them as a new club. We already have that in writing.

  4. Last night’s display was more about poor kids being manipulated by folk who’re more than happy to orchestrate but will run a mile rather than give up a penny of their own money.

If anything says how crap a Catholic education is, as it shows yet again how easily led people are and if everyone speaks with one mind you can guarantee that it was only one mind controlling and everyone else following.

A price for independent thought, pfft, disgraceful scene, shame on the manipulators.

“We’re all individuals, we’re all different! I’m not!”

    Spot on.

It is a hun agenda they are trying to force feed Celtic supporters with.

    Wont work.

Hope you and yours are well.

People who refuse to challenge arbitrary and unjust use of authority are not Celtic supporters.

They may regard themselves as Celtic supporters. But they aren’t.

    I have spoken.

  8. AULDHEID on 18TH AUGUST 2016 12:12 PM

You talked about the individual having to weigh up what they’re doing vs the impact it has, and stated the only measure was against the impact it could have on the fellow supporter. I’m saying that that’s not actually the case, for some at least. Those who hope it will gain attention, highlight the plight of the those they are supporting and somehow reach them, giving them some hope.

It’s not necessarily as binary as you suggested, that’s all I’m saying.

Whether this does reach those under occupation is up for debate (as you said), but I’ll bet it’s more likely to than a few hundred gathering peacefully and waving flags outside the Israeli Embassy. There was a reasonably large protest at an event over at the Edinburgh Festival. What coverage did that get? I’d have seen zero about were it not for some of the folk I follow on Twitter.

This was seen worldwide, so I suspect it’ll have made some impact. With luck some will take some heart from it.

  9. Auldheid…

..do the right thing, examine motives

Maybe the people displaying flags simply aren’t as myopic as some other Celtic fans, and recognise a need to have a world view beyond “how much money can Celtic hoover up”. Maybe there is a greater good that some fans regard as being an imperative to a club that spouts empty rhetoric in regard to equality, charity and being “more than just a club”.

This ‘think of the good name of Celtic’ is precisely the same one that allowed the club to fail children spectacularly with Jim Torbett. That ruined the lives of Alan Brazil and several other vulnerable children entrusted into Celtic’s care. The ‘good name’ of Celtic isn’t served by hiding from injustice, it’s failed by it. And we have a board of directors that daily fail the club in this regard.

Celtic doesn’t have to be a mono culture, but if it is to be open to culture it must also provide room for dissent, for opposing viewpoints and ultimately, freedom of expression.

  10. My core point stands. It is a demo paid for by other peoples money whether they want to or not and so undermines itself.

Exactly the point I made earlier, fell on deaf ears but, people on here still willing to back a group who no one knows? Or do they?

  11. An Teach Solais on

As has been pointed out supporters attending the match by purchasing a ticket agreed to abide by Celtic rules and, by extension, UEFA rules. The bottom line is that if people reject UEFA rules – irrespective of sense or nonsense- then, simply, they should have refused to attend.

I would guess that most of us sympathise with the plight of the Palestinians, the responsibility for which we could argue for a year. However, if people break rules they may have to accept some sanctions and take responsibility for their actions.

It seems to me that many on here feel that the rules should be broken (possibly correctly) but those breaking the rules pass any punishment on to others. Selective morality?? HH

    TET,

I agree wholeheartedly BUT UEFA make the rules and they don’t do irony……………unfortunately.

  14. TONYDONNELLY67…

My core point stands. It is a demo paid for by other peoples money whether they want to or not and so undermines itself.

All demos are paid for by others. Do you think the police provide their time for free at public marches or demonstrations? The Celtic fans paid their money. They contributed.

Nothing is free anywhere. And if a protest has no cost, it has no value. If it has no value it’s missing the point.

Exactly the point I made earlier, fell on deaf ears but, people on here still willing to back a group who no one knows? Or do they?

I’m willing to back people’s freedom of expression. Absolutely. People shouldn’t have to seek approval to hold or express an opinion.

The victim blaming here is spectacular. You don’t attack the oppressor, but blame the oppressed for the negative consequences stemming from a fascistic Ruling body.

In those instances others have a say in what their money is spent on.

    In this instance they don’t.

Now a collection to pay any fine by those demonstrating would give others that choice.

And whoever said about the old bHoy’s forgetting how they were when they were young.

We haven’t but we have a good idea based on experience of life what works and what doesnt.

  17. Oh Timbhoy 3 wants know if that Speed Camera on London Rd near the Celtic Social Club is in use,and yes I to was young, fire in the belly, and a cheeky wee Bassa to go along with it,but please keep politics out of Sports. And Arafatt was no Angel,
