If there is a sanction from UEFA which involves a partial stadium closure hopefully it will include the Director’s Box. The PLC are quick enough to make a profit from the ‘Old Firm’ brand and say very little while Season Book Holders and other supporters are cheated out of their money to watch a rigged and toxic Scottish sectarian game.

I’m not sure if you’re being disingenuous or you’re just really thick.
Either way, there’s enough information floating about to allow UEFA to treat the Irish Tricolour the same way they treat the Palestinian flag if they wanted to.
The reason they don’t may be that there’s not a particularly powerful lobby to have the Irish Tricolour banned.

Regarding the discussion on flags — I was hoping for a bit more originality from the politically demonstrative section of the support.
We were not playing the Israeli NT — we were playing a club side with their own specific history, traditions and world view, some of it very close to our own so make the most of the positives.
Reverting to a one dimensional response was student politics porn instead of the mature and constructive demonstration it could have been.
The story of the wind and the sun having a competition over the or guy with rain coat comes to mind …
Wind = Palestinian flags and nothing else — old hat to the point of boredom.
Sun = Try something different, make a statement that invites discussion.
My thoughts would have been a few green and white versions of the HBS badge — we love our hammer and sickles, even me — and also the Israeli flag.
Lesson from the 80’s — the Post Office / GDC sponsored NMP street rename was the perfect FU to the White SA government. It was cheap, easy to do and destroyed their confidence and their worldview.
The same level of ingenuity and out of the box thinking would have gone down well last night.

For those of you who holiday in Santa Ponsa this execution took place less than a 100 yards away from The Square where on a night like last night would have been mobbed with Celtic supporting families. Take your bloody feuds back to the streets of Dublin and let families holiday without fear of getting caught up in your territorial distribution disputes

On the game I was asked yesterday if I was confident of a win. “We’ll at least we won’t lose a 2 goal lead like v Malmo” was my reply.
So that was worrying when it happened and as BR himself said post match we are not the finished article. However by full time we showed an ability to recover that was missing last season, so onwards and upwards.
Now next bit is a philosophical look at the flags issue so scroll on.
Human beings I read somewhere are naturally predisposed to do what they think is right. The way that they fail to do that is to tell themselves wrong is right.
The argument for showing support for the Palestinians is that it is the loving thing to do which is a hard argument to counter for clearly there is much suffering there to address, but the reasons are historical, complicated and suffering knows no borders.
In trying to establish what is the loving thing I’ve personally been influenced by the words in a book called Unconditional Love by John Powell SJ where his advice was “check your motives”.
That at the end of the day makes it personal for no one can truly know the motives of another and the fact that we even have to do it for ourselves suggests how hard it is to be honest about them.
The dilemma being faced by those making the choice is by waving a flag am I doing the right thing towards my fellow Celtic supporters?Who will my action affect most directly and here is the key for me, am I prepared to pay the price of my principles?
That is the judgment call being made by those taking action whose motives only they can know.
It is their fellow supporters who provide the platform on which the flag bearers show their support and just as a guest to a party has to respect the house owners rules or not attend that is the judgment call being made here.
If someone else is paying the price for my principles then they aren’t really mine and this is where the flag demonstration falls down in my opinion.
There has to be another way found that is not only respectful to the cause that does deserve attention but to those providing the platform on which to make it.
If it is UEFA that are wrong then why not take the argument to them?
An advert in a Swiss newspaper for example that I’m sure would obtain the funding from a large swathe of the support might prove more effective and allows folk to pay for their principles.
Doing the loving thing is never easy. In fact it usually calls for a sacrifice on the part of the person or persons doing it. Christianity is based on that very principle.
Waving flags at a game is easy but that does not mean those doing so did not have the right motivation. Only they know, so they can judge themselves but for me doing the right thing has to be done in the right/loving way otherwise it is an empty clashing of cymbals.
