Just a thought since the “debate” is now getting to hurling personal invective. If, and it is a big if, UEFA decide to get really heavy handed and there is a partial or full closure of a stand and supporters who were NOT involved in breaching UEFA rules lose their right to attend the next home game(s), will those in other area of the ground not affected by imposed closure show their solidarity for their “innocent” fellow supporters by not attending? More questions than answers. HH

  3. I was against the flying of the Palestinian flag because of the harm it could do to Celtic, but when I saw the demo last night, my heart swelled with pride.

    If that makes sense.

Present the findings of your report.

Lets bring these offenders to justice.

Naw dafty, this is where you don’t get it, with they’r actions last night those who where at CP last night are all offenders, I’m guilty by association, not my rules UEFAs , and the cowardly malcontents know that, you may all back them and stand by them, but why? When you don’t know who they where? I find that very strange indeed, so they just remain cowards in my book.

  7. I disapprove of the self-indulgent, flag waving brigade and having Israeli flag draped from front of Directors’ box was also not on.

  10. Uefa bigging up the exciting Celtic 7 goal thriller. There may be a slap on the wrists for the honourable pro-Palestine flag waving but they know that european nights at Celtic Park enhance the Champions League.

    No…ive got it now

A crack troop of centenarian Bolsheviks have infiltrated the Celtic support and are making them wave flags, through the use of their magnetic air loom machine, which they have hidden in a basement somewhere in Glasgow.

Its been done before though….Those sinister French Revolutionaries invented the air loom machine on the same day as the guillotine…..but never told anybody about it…..shhhh

Bolsheviks got a hold of it….Now they are magnetically grooming the supporters.

You’ve never presented one solitary piece of evidence to support what really is an utterly ridiculous claim.

  18. For the record and the avoidance of doubt — SB had an exceptional game last might.

For 60 minutes he was world class — playing with an intensity and focus that does not need some kid on hard man nickname to describe.

The rest of the time he was just great.

Apart for a 5 second interlude around 85 minutes when he regressed back to his Hibbee radge dafty persona of last week / month / year when he tried that left foot shot that was below woeful.

    Nice follow up though.

Well last night we saw both the good and the bad side of the Celtic team at 3-0 I thought just keep it tight and we are through. At 3-2 I thought here we go again were out. At 5-2 I thought well done the Bhoys but remember it is only half time. So next weeks second leg unless we score early is going to be a nervy affair we have not qualified yet there is a lot of work still to be done.I thought Beer Sheva were a tidy team when they were on the ball and I have no doubt they will make it hot for us next Tuesday night.Brendan needs to work on our defence in order that they are able to shut up shop and not lose cheap goals.I still believe that was not our strongest team last night I believe we can improve but it would be churlish not to recognise the Bhoys gave there all and snatched the game from the jaws of a disaster in to a famous home win. H.H.

  20. GlassTwoThirdsFull on

Well done to Brendan and the bhoys.

First half almost perfect. Then the two goals seemed to give us the heebies for a bit, like v Fenerbahce.

Fortunately we got it together again and got a result which should see us through.

    Onwards and upwards!

  22. Celtic rip a team to shreds in the CL and the next morning it’s tit for tat re flag-gate. How sad.

  23. EXPAT_CELT –

Oldco last played in Europe in the 2011/12 qualifiers, so that co-efficient would have expired at end of last season, so the reason for zero co-efficient is inconclusive.

  27. It’s disappointing to see that Ernie Lynch is still at conflict with the island of Ireland. Where has he been since the Good Friday Agreement? At Ibrox and reading the MSM I suppose. Ernie, you really need to find a way to rise above your sectarian bigotry. IMO.

By Ernie’s logic the Union flag should be banned at UEFA events given Britain’s involvement in conflicts, the Falklands, Afghanistan and Iraq being being notable examples.

The supporters were wrong to conduct the flag protest and as Cowiebhoy pointed out earlier, how did they get into the stadium with the flags? Are Celtic entitled to stop supporters entering the stadium with flags that are likely to get the club penalised?

    Who knows?

If there is a sanction from UEFA which involves a partial stadium closure hopefully it will include the Director’s Box. The PLC are quick enough to make a profit from the ‘Old Firm’ brand and say very little while Season Book Holders and other supporters are cheated out of their money to watch a rigged and toxic Scottish sectarian game.

  28. Sinclair should have buried that chance at the end to make it 6,then it WOULD have been end game.

I honestly think we’ll win over there.

    ========================================================================

    Evidence.

Jeanette Findlay spoke at a rally in George Sq. shortly after the kettling of G.B. members.

Are you suggesting that there was absolutely no connection between these two events ?

Can you vouch for the fact that there is absolutely no tactical relationship between the Celtic trust and the G.B. in any way , shape or form ?

Is it a coincidence that they have virtually the same political agenda ?

  31. Sitting in the JS lower for the second Euro game on the trot was a great reminder of the power and emotion of football crowds — specifically fully engaged CP football crowds — over the choreographed, forced, rigid look at me tripe of the “ultra” vibe coming from the GB.

Loved the display at the start — hopefully the got sponsorship from Dafabet.

However their singing range is pretty weak and it rapidly needs freshening up.

They seem to sing with the fear all to often — reverting to old favourites to cheer themselves up.

I personally don’t like the ultra vibe.

Looks to much like a sect majoring on elitism.

CP is special because everyone joins in when the situation demands it.

An analogy I would make involves the army — where the IQ increases when there is conscription.

The atmosphere is much more honest and authentic when everybody gets involved rather than the uber fan mob in the corner.

On the subject of the Green Brigade in the main they are young laddies . Now when I was young I had fire in my belly and supported when I look back many daft causes but you could never have told me that. I bet most of us on CQN where the same but as we age we mellow. I am not saying that Palestine is a daft cause because it certainly is not and for me they hurt no one but Celtic by flying the flags.Remember when you were young were you not filled with verve ? did you not do daft things ? if like me you would have argued with your shadow and believed you were right lets give the young Laddies a break as time will change them as it has changed us.
