    Anyone else notice that the famous dead club have mysteriously dropped off UEFA’s official club rankings? Listed at number 269 in 15/16, with Dundee Utd in 268, so naturally they should be around Dundee Utd again for this season since neither club gained any co-efficient points last season (other than the token points gained for Scotlands clubs). Dundee Utd are now listed at 267, but what’s this? No R****** FC? Have they slipped down for some reason? Let’s have a look. Oh, there’s Inverness at 294, further down, hmm, no sign. Past the clubs from Malta, Luxembourg, Wales. Bottom 3 occupied by 2 clubs from San Marino and a club from Andorra. Surely they can’t be worse than the famous AC Juvenes/Dogana from San Marino???

     

     

    I wonder what happened to Glasgow R****** FC?

    Quick point on the flag debate – There are reasonable arguments for and against so you can disagree without calling others selllouts/morons/etc. PS To be clear that’s not aimed at recent comments.

     

     

    On the game now. It’s clear that Brendan Rodgers changes tack during a game. He reacts to what is happening then and now – not just throw on a striker at 80mins. He is adept at adapting. That is refreshing.

     

     

    However what I have seen from the few games so far is reacting to score more goals. Against Astana (at 1-1) and Sheva (3-2) at home this has worked out. These were calculated risks that paid off.

     

     

    What I am interested to see now is can we adapt to park the bus, hit on the break, away from home. We got away with a 1-1 away to Astana thanks to a Roberts and Griffiths mugging and excellent shot stopping from Gordon. But I reckon we were lucky.

     

     

    In Israel I expect we will score but I would like us to be at a place where we might not have to. It’s early but I bring it up as this was the main criticism of Rodgers at Liverpool. When as I expect we get to the CL group stages proper we are going to come up against some teams we cannot go toe-to-toe away from home.

     

     

    The Israelis are decent and will put us under pressure at their home.So the next thing I want to see from Rodgers is a tactical plan to ally the pace of SInclair, Dembele, and counterattacking guile of Roberts and Griffiths — with a parked bus.

    The list includes only clubs who have a co-efficient greater than zero, in other words any club that has played at least one game in European competition in the previous 5 years.

     

     

    So either UEFA excluded the new club because they are a new club, or oldco last played in European competition more than 5 years ago. Oldco played in Europe in 2011/12 which would mean they would have a small co-efficient if treated as the same club.

     

     

    So in conclusion, it looks like UEFA see them as having zero co-efficient, therefore not listed, therefore new club.

    Another feature of the second half fight-back was James Forest comeing to life.

     

    He was very dangerous leving defenders in his wake. And of course his first-half cross for the Griff header.

    Whatever we are paying BR — he is certainly having to earn it the hard way.

     

    The hardest job he has at the moment is sorting out the the squads attitude.

     

    The improvement we make — seen often last night — when we manage to lose the fear is impressive.

     

     

    We have more than enough talent to make the group stages.

     

    We have enough talent currently to be competitive in the group stages.

     

    We do not have enough talent to overcome bad luck and poor refereeing.

     

     

    However the squad is incredibly lumpy with gaps that all to plain to see.

     

    It won’t all be fixed in the next week but the club has a lot of work to do.

     

     

    We saw what we can do for 50-60 minutes last night.

     

    Consequently buying an agent friendly job lot of projects is now not good enough.

    Not so sure… Go through the list and you will find there are clubs who haven’t played/qualified for Europe for more than 5 years – take FC Sileks who last played in the Intertoto Cup (remember that?) in 2005.
