  1. CELTIC MAC on 29TH JANUARY 2017 5:06 PM

Without trying the become the John Calvin of this hallowed site, and despite having been there in 1966-67 and still here now, I have say that until the last few weeks I had never heard of this record. Indeed I do not recall it back then or since. Indeed I stated on here that, whatever, it had been eclipsed by Martin O’Neill’s Celtic in 2003-2004. Others have pointed out that it did not include three victories in the Glasgow Cup which would have made it 29. And here is another thing, and this is where the Lisbon Lions are non-pareil, it does not include four victories in the European Cup which would make it 33 games.

*it’s a domestic record else deidco’s would be 37, which was the year when they got tae the EC semi, aye that’ll be right. They’re only EC semi resulted in a 12-4 aggregate gubbin.

    I wish I was in derBruke :-)

Am just gutted as the Ruby House (our favourite Chinese takeaway) closes for 3weeks

Those Chinese take their New Year far too serious, why not just have one night ?

  3. DD, just on the way home on the Arbroath CSC bus, and catching up from last night. Absolutely nothing wrong with fish suppers on the east coast (and I am very partial to fish btw), indeed the Frau had one, but I prefer breaded fish oot the chippy and they don’t have that ready to go, you have to order and wait. Couldn’t be bothered as it was chucking it down and we just wanted to get home. So being a good weegie I reverted to type with a black pudding!

Enjoyed the game and the result today, hope that will perk your wee Ma up. HH

Metro not one of my favourite places due to an altercation with the two owners and their heavies one night. Something to do with their 19yo niece and yer no getting in.

I met them ten years later in my Dad’s golf club one Sunday, refused their kind offer to join their company. Their guest,Andy Goram, suggested it was because of him. I quietly put them straight on the reason.

“Aw f…,was that you?” There’s more to that, but not for here, suffice to say my Metro days were over.

As much mini give me a telling off because Jack Aitchison should have taken the pen..

    Anyway,before I hit my cot…

For a makeshift team today, that was some performance. Hearts barely had a look-in.

Think back twelve months and look at the improvement in every one of those players today, even the ones asked to play an unfamiliar role.

BR might just be our best signing in a long time!

  9. Great day to be a Celtic supporter. I thought the performance of the day came from our manager in his interview after the match. Brilliant stuff about “this club certainly has a history…129 years of it”. Pointed? You better believe it.

As has been said, every one of last season’s players has improved. Imo, most of them dramatically.

  10. Brogan Rogan Trevino and Hogan on

Just in from what was a very good performance.

I thought Gamboa did everything asked of him and more today.

Boyata was very good as was our captain.

Liam Henderson looked a little short of pace for me, but by god can that boy slide a pass.

Thanks once again to Malorbhoy for all his help today and a great day for Marie McCusker to bring her friend Nora to Celtic Park from Manchester.

Hail Hail to all I spoke to today.

Brendan doesn’t expect ant more signings in BBC post match interview

Brendan Rodgers ‘disappointed’ by lack of Celtic signings

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers says he is disappointed Celtic’s recruitment plans are not further advanced. Rodgers told BBC Scotland he did not think the Premiership leaders would make any more signings in January.

“It’s disappointing because we had six months as a club to identify the type of players we wanted,” he said.

But he was hopeful Craig Gordon would agree a new deal, and said Chelsea’s approach for the 34-year-old goalkeeper was not worth considering.

Teenage midfielder Eboue Kouassi has been Rodgers’ only January recruit, with the Ivorian introduced to fans at half-time in Sunday’s 4-0 win over Hearts.

As runaway leaders Celtic cruise towards a sixth consecutive title win, the manager’s thoughts will be on next season’s Champions League qualifiers.

“We had profiles in mind, but if they are not available, you can’t bring them in,” said Rodgers.

“I’m happy with what I have. Of course I want to improve it, but if it’s not in this window, it’s fine. We’ll do it in the summer.”

  14. GFTB/Tontine Tim

Yes it is a “domestic record” which apparently allows this present Celtic team to be somehow compared to the Lisbon Lions, a team which is non pareil. The team of 1966-67 went unbeaten from the start of the season for 33 games, the present team didn’t. If there is a Celtic supporter out there who celebrated a domestic run of 26 games undefeated at the end of 1966 then I’ve yet to meet him or her. Would that be you Gerry?

*naw I was still complaining about being cheated at annfield and bi kai yai yippee’s blooter.

  17. The game was a near sell out today but you could see quite a few empty seats. This is a problem for fans with season tickets who have to travel long distances with games being moved. Would it be possible for the season ticket holders who know that they won’t make it or can’t pass it on to let Celtic know. If it could be done then Celtic could sell the ticket and the money could go to the Celtic Foundation. A flat rate of £15-20 (?) per ticket could raise a decent amount of money for the charity.

I don’t know how practical/feasible this is but what are your thoughts?

  18. Great weekend. Watched Trainspotting 2 last night. What a dig at Ra Pee-pel.

Met up with a few CQNers at the corner before the game.

As for the game, I thought we were up against “industrial football”. A limited but well organised side prepared (and allowed by Madden) to do anything to stop any chance of good football breaking out. Every Celtic player played their part but Gamboa, Tierney and Henderson were stand outs.

Just watched it on Sky. I agree with Parkheadcumsalford at 5:45, Brendan’s words were well chosen and spot on.

Really enjoyed the game today. Was slightly worried at the line-up.

Who’d have predicted Jozo and Dedryck would be our centre-back pairing just a few weeks back ?

Confidence what a wonderful thing eh ? There’s a lesson in there for (some of) our supporters; luckily we have a manger who provides that aspect of our role and then some.

Cracking crowd, on a cracking day.

I’ve never heard of Rangers’ domestic record either, and doubt that would be 1959-60. Hearts won the league that year, if my memory serves me well.

  23. Great day today, capped off with having £6 on 4-0 @ 12/1.

Superb performance, especially 2nd half. Tierney is going to be a World Class player.

Not a failure throughout. Supporting Celtic nowadays is an absolute joy. It will only get better too.

  24. Tontine Tim

Yes 1966 had its’ high and its’ lows.

That said had we went on to play in the ECWC at Hampden in 1966, and imagine the crowd that would have been there, and won, would we still have went on to win the Big Cup in 1967?

  25. Wait till donald finds out, he will demand the names of the brigaders and ban them from mericky.

Celtic supporter group The Green Brigade have raised more than £176k for charities which help people caught up in conflict in Palestine.

Before today’s game against Hearts, they handed over a cheque for £176,076 to be split between the Lajee Refugee Centre and Medical Aid for Palestine.

A large crowd of supporters gathered in Celtic Way outside Celtic Park to see the presentation.

And they also listened to a speech from Salah Ajarmaof the Lajee Refugee Centre, who talked about the work his organisation do in Palestine.

The Lajee Refugee Centre was established in the Aida Refugee Camp near Bethlehem in 2000.

The main aim of the center is to provide refugee youth with cultural, educational, social and developmental opportunities.

Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) delivers health and medical care to those worst affected by conflict and displacement in Palestine.
