We need a centre forward capable of putting his napper on the numerous crosses (from both wings) that we continually pump into the box.

A San Hesselmore of Vinegar or Chis Sutton type – how good is Nat King Carlton in that role?

Too much domination and little penetration

    Ooh err missus.

    Needs to be sorted!

Afterthought: there’s little or no threat at corners since VwD and Jason evaporated from Celtic Park…

We’ve scored quite a few goals this season from corners, Boyata and Lustig among them.

I honestly don’t know what to make of that game ….. we must have had at least 10 gilt-edged chances in the first half, and we were a shadow of ourselves in the second half …. as I say, I have no idea what to make of it all ……. Is this the type of opposition defending we are going to face every week, if so, we need two outright strikers out there….

Glad we closed the gap. Mustn’t panic, Aberdeen will drop points. We gotta just keep playing well.

  8. If anyone can tell me Nadir Ciftci’s strengths as a footballer,i would be very keen to know.Pace, strength, good in the air, link up play, poacher, goalscorer, awareness ? Thanks in advance .

*Neilly Mochan style, hate tae say it but both alice scott and bunion henderson played that ball when on the deidco right wing.

  10. Still have to be convinced that we are not playing to many square balls, that EI can cross a ball that has me expecting a goal from, that the same player can take a decent throw-in, and at times we do not play at a high enough tempo.

  11. By the way, I have to applaud the GB for the support they gave the team today. They were excellent.

We’ll play a whole lot worse and win out the park. Still, drawing like that leaves me for one frustrated.

    …awareness

All SPL players who want a route to the EPL via Southampton or Norwich know that Celtic is the place to go

  13. Just back from CP via the pub. Thought we were very good in the first half and even though Hearts were playing with everyone within forty yards of their goal we still managed to create numerous chances. On another day, like last Saturday, we would have been out of sight by half time. Second half they dropped even deeper, played a back six and we ran out of ideas. Like last week Rogic had a great first half but disappeared in the second, Commons was poor and should have been subbed and we were crying out for someone ahead of Lustig on the right in the way Forrestwas with Izzy on the left.

Bitton and Brown dominated the middle of the park and until injury time the defence were untroubled. Efe took one for the team.

Crossing and finishing practice at Lennoxtown this week.

    MOTM Ryan Christie ;-)

Correct ….this gives the opposition plenty of time to organise themselves at the back….

  16. Id agree with those commenting about a player required wide right today………….

I’d have moved Forrest there in the second half. Other than throwing Ciftci on, did we adapt to Hearts defensive formation, second half …………

Options were limited, but despite the squad size, we are still short in several areas.

  17. Jackie McNamara’s time as manager of Dundee United is over, BBC Scotland has learned.

The former Scotland defender, 41, met with chairman Stephen Thompson following Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to 10-man St Johnstone in Perth.

McNamara remains an employee of the Tannadice club but will not be in charge for next Saturday’s visit to Partick Thistle.

United sit second bottom of the Premiership with one win from nine.

The visitors took the lead at McDiarmid Park when Billy McKay converted a first-half penalty after a red card for Saints keeper Alan Mannus.

However, the depleted hosts hit back after the interval, with goals from Graham Cummins and Simon Lappin.

Club officials confirmed that McNamara had talks with Thompson after the game but would not reveal any details of those discussions.

  19. What annoys me is not bad crosses. It’s that we cross the ball so often. We should be passing the ball in to the box. The second you hit a cross with only hope that it’ll find a hooped jersey is tge second a bad decision was made.

Unless it’s clearly on no full back or winger should be crossing it. Pass it. Pass it. Pass it. Work a space. Work a shooting opportunity.

Nothing to do with unrelenting downsizing.

Do you know of any 10 foot or 4 foot tall strikers?

Is it official about Jackie Mac?

Rumor based on supposition and innuendo.

No taxi driver has confirmed it yet so it can’t be true

  23. Remember the sense of anticipation we all had when Naka lined up to take a free kick?

Now, when we get a free kick outside the box, the only thing we can anticipate is that Griffiths, Commons or Mulgrew will balloon the ball over the bar, or well wide. If these are our best free kick experts, how bad must the rest of them be? We seem incapable of testing the goalkeeper, or even getting the ball on target. Makes you wonder what the players do in practice. I’ve long since forgotten the last time we scored directly from a free kick.
