  1. TheOriginalSadiesBhoy on

Although Stuart Armstrong lined up on the left of midfield today, he got himself into central positions throughout and I thought he was outstanding when he did. He was out to make an impression today and was successful.

GMS looks like his confidence has taken a hit. I don’t think he’ll feature on Wednesday.

  2. theglasgowcelticway on

Thought Boyata was playing well in the first half then a loose pass forced Gordon to make a save.Mistakes in the second means he needs to square his act up which I don’t think will be too difficult for him. Here we go for Malmo.

  3. One of my favorite moves today was watching an interchange between SA and Lustig in the box on the left , I thought what the hell is Lustig doing over there, and I answered my self, playing great football and making it hard for their defence to track him stupid, what do you think he’s doing over there

  4. we have a strong starting 11 but not a strong squad, our main issue is with the defence not the midfield.

I like the nom de blog switch – very apt

I was reminded today by someone outside the ground some Celtic fans used to moan about Jimmy Johnstone – sometimes.

Today was magic high above the jungle.

  6. Rebus and Jude, CQN is suffering from the usual but avoidable bugbears of a major change to a website because I think that most IT developers are not actual users and do not understand user friendly ideas. I am sure it will all be sorted out. Apart from that, I think Ronny’s team building is still work in progress. Just hope we can get to CL group stage.

  7. jude2005 is Neil Lennon \o/ on

Tony was dropped last week after a wee spatt on the training ground. Came on 2nd half and scored

You are correct. Some fans used to slate Jinky for losing the ball or trying to beat one man too many. On his day he could demoralise the best of opponents single handedly but, being human it didn’t always come of.

I think the concerns over Boyata are of a different nature.

  9. Tonys average is one every four games

The Griffs average is one every two games, I’ll stick with the Griff thanks

  10. Winning Captains,

I know you have put a pile of work into the site and that it must be frustrating to see criticism. I also know that this has been a labour of love for you.

If the Ads have to be there to sustain the site, OK. All I am saying is that it will not be for me. Just tell me that is the reality.

I have appreciated all that you (and others) have done to make this site function.

    Regards,

  11. Never saw the game, going by the updates, cheers. Ron67, a strong defence is only as good as the midfield before them, and strikers. As I said, defence is only as good with what is in front of them, same as a keeper is only as good with what is in front of him, obviously individual errors. My point being, until Armstrong and brown went off, Celtic controlled the game, mulgrew and macgregor came on, in my opinion, they are not hard confident midfielders, mulgrew definitely not, macgregor to me follows the ball not stay in position, and ultimately making the defence have to cope with more pressure. Of course that is only my opinion.

Yes exactly that is what I’m saying once the subs took place and we lost control of the midfield, ICT started to attack our defence and it was shown up as the weak link.

  13. Canman

    I agree re the Griff.

Me thinks the worst thing Tony Watt did was score against Barca, glad he did mind you, but it sure went to his head.

Bournes haha! Subbuteo indeed! Try spelling that with your autocorrect all mixed up between two different languages ;) If only I was lucky enough to ever have seen wee JJ. I consider myself bloody lucky to have seen the king of khings so I’m not gonna grumble there. Otherwise I’d just be being greedy.

Happy with the vast majority of what I saw today, but once

again we got sloppy,Boyata will seriously need up his game,

concentrate for the whole game son.

How important is Broonie to the side?

Well done once again to the bhoys and ghirls of the GB,yer

  16. We lost two goals to Killie then two to ICT but Barca lost FOUR to Bilbao today!

Yes, Messi was on the field.

    Rebus

  17. Glad big Leftie and young Sean Patrick had a winning start :-)

Well if your going to make major blunders, that was the game to get them out the system

Some young Guy came on for Inverness in the 2nd half and started running the midfield, any ideas who he was :-)

( Doc, I remember you telling CRC, paddybhoy1888, BJMac and Lennybhoy, round a table, that Amido Blade was a player and would come good – roaster :-))

Thought team totally lost shape with the 3 substitutions, or was it the wandering one

    Hail Hail

  18. BIG-CUP-WINNERS on

    Not a happy bunny tonight.

Dedryck’s nonsense cost me a few sheckles. The first was bad, the second unfathomable, as VvD was telling him to simply roll it back to Gordon.

We are in for some tough nights if we can progress by Malmo. Not too sure if we can cope with the likely travails.

Great to have Broony back, his play was outstanding and when added to his drive, he was my MOTM.

  19. Glendalys

Or “ Johnstone gonnae just cross it “

Dedryk Boyata is a work in progress, otherwise why would you go from EPL to SPL?

We’ve had one or two CB’s in the modern era that cost a lot more than he did, and weren’t good enough.

Maybe a good thing he makes his errors today when we’re 4-0 up, and not on Wednesday against Malmo.

  20. Winning captains

Good work on the new site.

The ads that I am diverted too are a pain on my iPhone.

It would be useful to nullify these.

I will though continue to battle through to get into this wonderful site.

  21. thomthethim for Oscar OK on

Good to see that we are still on the same wave length re our fitba’ and most other things.

I think that it is becoming apparent that most of the inherited players are not up to speed with Deila’s methods, although Mc.Gregor’s contract extension is a puzzle, unless it is to retain a transfer fee if/ when he moves on.

  22. Ron67, apologies if I read you wrong. I hate players standing around expecting defence goalie to do all the defending, a boot in the horlicks is what some of them need.

  23. Oh Dim Sam

I’m glad he only played 30mins, scored 1, set up the other, and created another very good chances for ICT :-)

Did we lose out on Ryan Gauld because we waited too long ? No idea

But, need to get this young guy tied up, could loan back for remainder of season ? Or if McGregor and Stokes go, get him in now

    Hail Hail

  24. Just back from Seapoint and seen the result which leaves Ronny and his team motoring nicely and retaining an unbeaten record and important psychological boost going into Wednesday’s crucial match against Malmo.

  25. Go tell the Spartim on

Thankfully I’m not allowed in the bed wetter clique.

Two unforced errors made the score look decent, we were miles above ICT. It wasn’t Ryan Christie that made the difference it was the substitutions. Mulgrew played further up in midfield than he normally would and mcgregor obviously only came in to give others a rest. If they points were in doubt the subs more than likely wouldn’t have been made and even if they were the subs might have been different.

Easy win and pretty entertaining to watch, especially this early in the season.

  26. Ryan Christie will be our next James McCarthy screw up. It’s a no brainer. Go get him Celtic.

  27. I heard he was dead on

A lot to be happy about and some things to ponder.

Broonie is the linchpin of this team. His influence on the rest was there to see when he was there and when he was not.

No stupid mistakes on Wednesday or the Swedes will have the advantage.

    Clean sheet is imperative.

Anyway, away to Pivo-fest and then disco.

    Have a good night.

  28. TBJ says Wee Oscar Knox is in heaven with the angels on

The substitutions took the drive and fluency away – dont understand bringing on cmcg – unless it was his last chance to shine

Missed a sitter with his first touch then went downhill rapid – never covered back and left us exposed on our left

Boyatas mistakes need to be discussed with him – a verbal warning in laymans terms – learn from them or face heavier disciplinary action

I do worry that vvd gets bored when were on top and goes into his own attacking mode .

Broony was very good as were sa and nir

Good to see big ML getting fit again

  29. CowieBhoy, I was just defending the latest whipping Bhoy, that he proved to be a poor player is neither here nor there.

    He was an athlete though.

“You’re right Doc, he is a good shout”

Your words when I mentioned Christie today:-)

Think it was when we were talking about Allan’s signing, which I also am happy with.

    The lad did well today.

So did Scott Allan when he was presented to the crowd.

  30. What is the Stars on

    Comfortable win

    Pity about the 2 goals.

Anyway Michael Conlan won gold for Ireland in the European Boxing Championship and Joe Ward is next up.

    Come on the fighting irish

  31. Thom

    I worked that out :-)

Aye, the McGregor thing is a puzzle, but I thot the same when we exersised the year on Dylan, that worked out OK.

Had a listen to SSB earlier, and not a single pundit put a hun right on the Scott Allen sage, he reckoed that Hibs sold SA for less to us than the huns were offering, not a mention of DMcG, who I believe was valued at more than we paid for SA.

Happy enough, long may they wallow in their pish and pity.

Aff oot, The Assumption celebrations tonight, starts the fiesta in the village, which will be hoachin tonight.

  32. Evening all.

Coasting having played some really entertaining football and we give away 1 (maybe 2) goals. Takes the shine off the game.

Thought that was our captain’s finest hour. Hope he repeats it against Malmo.
