Match changed when Brown went off. Bhoyata has been guilty of slack passing in every game he has played. It seems like he is asking too much of himself, putting pressure to make telling passes. We need Brown to play 90 min Wednesday.

Ooh Celtic mentioned in Swedish tv interview with Malmo coach. Alas my schveedish is too poor to accurately decipher the response. I think he said ‘well we know Celtic are a strong team but they look vulnerable at the back when concentration wanes later in the game. If we focus on Izaguirre, Boyata, Mulgrew, VVD (when being too casually Dutch) or any of the other whipping bhoys I hold no fear of a rampant performance’. Ok I didn’t quite catch everything he said but I think that was the gist of it….

  3. Ronny has to get to grips with his subs when he makes them and who he changes, we are a weaker team following his subs or could it be that we just do not have the quality on the bench

  4. glendalystonsils on

What today showed was that we have a strong first 11 but not a strong squad. One or two key players subbed, weakens us considerably.

No Broony at Kilmarnock and we ship soft goals and points. Broony goes off again today and we surrender midfield and lose soft goals

I would almost rather we had won 2-0 than 4-2 in that manner.

  5. GG-Best 60 mins i’ve seen from a Celtic team for a long time

Chick Hun’s 1st question to RD’you must be disappointed in losing 2 goals….’

    Usual negative shite fae BBC

  6. Some good football played today, we scored good goals.

A couple of obvious lapses in defends and an impressive display by Christie caused a few jitters late on, although the result was never in doubt.

If you are going to make mistakes(we all do) 4-0/1 up is the time to make them.

  7. jude2005 is Neil Lennon \o/ on

Basic skills of being a footballer, Kick and pass the ball. Boyata cant.

  8. Evening Timland from a hot hun free mountain valley.

Some superb stuff today, a couple of lapses, understandable in the circs, as log as they are not in evidence on wednesday.

  9. Captain Beefheart on

Not too concerned about their goals. More importantly, our striking gamble worries me. The Thumb must start on Wednesday. Onwards and upwards.

    Respect to Hertz.

  10. Thought our 4th was an important goal for the team.

I hate to see a striker doing shuttles for nothing as the defence knocks the ball around him and the midfield stand watching.

The striker can then think whats the point and then we stop defending from the front.

The midfielders that pressed to help were great but the work they did could have became pointless if Armstrong hadn’t joined in as well and perhaps might have been reluctant to press as much another time.

It needs to be done by a pack.

Felt we perhaps grew a bit more as a team in that moment.

  11. Bhoyata made a few mistakes today only the last two were seriously punished, he needs to screw the bobin.

Broony just gets MotM in front of Nir and SA, these three on fire make the game look easy.

  12. I know its early day’s but my concerns are growing over our defence, if and when VVD leaves I feel we will require to replace our back line completely , just goes to show what Denyer brought to the team.

  13. Bring back Tony Watt, give him a good boot up the erse, get Jim McGuinness to have a long chat with him and play him as a centre-forward!

    That might work.

    Imo, of course.

    HH!!

  14. TheOriginalSadiesBhoy on

Boyata’s concentration was very poor today. Hope he’s got it out of his system. Catastrophic defending really. Hope he’s not going to be Efe mark ll.

Team played brilliantly until his errors. Ronny must be raging.

  15. glendalystonsils on

I hope James Forrest had a good rest today and can pick up on Wesnesday where he left off against Killie.

    He was sensational.

  16. Winning Captains,

I believe you are the go-to guy for Blog issues? I am fed up with the barrage of extra windows that are generated on the site referring me to betting websites. This happens when I enter the Blog; when I login to the site; when I change pages in the Blog. Is this going to be the norm?

It happens whether I am on ipad or a desktop PC.

Sorry to be a pain if this is going to be the norm then I shall not visit the Blog.

Thunder Road – and that’s the nub of it. Develop as a team. We’re making progress on that score. I also noticed a definite step up in intensity for our fourth and it was a pleasure to behold.

Alas it’s not all delivered, wrapped up in a silky bow on your plate as some would like, or indeed on demand. But hey we all watch our team for different reasons. I mean some even watch our team for their own, entirley sepearete reasons. Mon dieu!

Boyata had the case of the Tebillys today, but it has been coming. Needs to tighten up on the slackness.

Great team performance overall, with an awesome first half. Brown, Armstrong and Biton all great.

Charlie not a midfielder and not sure what McGregor adds to the team.

    Roll on Wednesday.

  19. Captain Beefheart on

We have signed an army of chumps, duds, a fraud and some other random crap upfront. Perhaps we should try to bring Tony home.

  20. First half we looked quality all over the park. We lose sloppy goals when Scott Brown isn’t there to galvanise the team.

Stuart Armstrong back to best today.

    GMS struggling to find form.

Ryan Christie ran the midfield in Broony’s absence (respect Cowiebhoy).

  21. GMS is playing like it is the end of the season rather than the beginning. He looks spent in the last twenty minutes of a game. Is he playing injured? On the other hand, Armstrong is growing into an impressive player.

Is Janko a better player than Fisher or Ambrose(at RB)? Doesn’t look like it so far.

What is Mulgrew’s best position? It doesn’t look like it is midfield……but he has been out for a while and maybe needs games.

The defensive lapses over the last two games(and the away game in Iceland) are a worry for Wednesday. Malmo strength is scoring goals. They are more than capable of exploiting weak defences, both home and away. They have scored the highest number in their league. Furthermore, their goals are spread around a few players in their team. There is no ONE threat. Their defence has been the issue earlier in the season but it has stabilised over the last few games.

We have knocked off the Swedish champs the last twice that we met them. Maybe it is their turn this time.

For me, qualifying for the CL is only meaningful if it leads to us strengthening the team meaningfully. If we do not do this, it will be a money grab and several drubbings. Nether of which suggests progress.

Tony Watt, the poster bhoy. I can just see it now. Perhaps we can run a print press off of matching Daryl Murphy and Chris Killen posters at the same time?

  23. Nice late summer’s day in Paradise where with militaristic precision EuroChamps67 overtook The Battered and young Bunnet in the Parkheed fastest egress, stakes.

Scott Brown inspired Celtic to a comfortable victory at Celtic Park, before his withdrawal along with Mikael Lustig may have contributed to two late lapses in defence where Dedryk Boyata looks a shoe in for the Efe Ambrose role in defence and Daily Record reading name calling.

Up to the substitutions there were no failures but those of the more nervous Celtic disposition epsecially, will already wonder about Celtic’s record breaking defensive performance of season past, with fond memories.

Boyata had a hand in the two goals and unlike the goal loss attributed to his peerAmbrose on Wednesday he was directly responsible for one and possibly both ICT goals, through a loss of concentration.

Though the goals affected the scoreline they didn’t take away from the sparkling attacking display, which could and should have led to more than the four goal lead Celtic amassed. Stuart Armstrong broke in from the left across the 18 yard box and scored two fine goals, in his excellent showing.

Mikael Lustig nursed back to full fitness headed down and in, from a Johansen cross in the first half, and after more tenacity from Scott Brown the ball was nodded in by Leigh Griffiths, past a static back post defender and keeper.

Bitton was Mr Majestic again, and uncharacteristic from last season lapses aside

Celtic go into the Malmo game in decent shape, where like the Qarabag game the eventual outcome won’t be dclear at all, until after the return whistle blows in Malmo.

Expect James Forrest and Nadir Ciftci will play major roles against a side that really will know how to park a bus, unlike the highlanders, they’ll also bring a support.

  24. thomthethim for Oscar OK on

Just logged in an haven’t read back.

I presume that all of us with even half a football brain are happy with the result and performance.

The four goal lead gave us an ample cushion to make changes in crucial positions in the team.

Changes that a one or two goal lead don’t, as yet, provide that luxury.

    Happy for Armstrong.

I hope that Allan can provide passes similar to young Christie.

  25. Ryan Christie should be signed before he disappears to Swansea. When Stokes leaves and hopefully McGregor as well, there will be space in the squad for a young talent like Christie.

  26. Dim Sam, hoi, it was me who mentioned Ryan Christie as a good player and one I’d have at Celtic, CowieBhoy just agreed with me:-)

Bournesouprecipe – fair summation, though I couldn’t possibly comment on the egress aspect! Sounds like you enjoyed a good summers day out in the sun, watching the tic play the Celtic way. Me…I’m not jealous…;)
