  1. At least one poster thought Rosenborg were certainties last night. I hope by posting a reminder of the first leg score (1-1) I made him think twice about maybe lumping on them at 2/5 to win over 90 minutes.

They’ve been very free-scoring at home. The fact that Dundalk limited them to one before extra-time is encouraging for us.

  2. If we cant get past Rosenborg we don’t deserve to dine at the Champions League table. Simples.

I checked out Bendter’s stats last week if I remember correctly he’s scored 30 goals since 2006 so unless he’s on a hot streak or is the assist king I don’t see him being that big a danger ☘️ Starry’s famous last words.com

  7. I want the old Huns taken to task for their years of cheating. I would like fans of other clubs to share that sentiment and pressurise their boards to speak out.

I don’t think last night will have helped that quest. IMO , it only emphasises to them that we are two sides of the same coin. We will never lose the ” old firm” tag while we refuse to move on.

We were playing dinosaurs last tight who aren’t fit or welcome in Paradise . I think we lowered ourselves to their level and will suffer consequences. We all saw the trap , it was so obvious but we still walked right into it.

Can any Celtic supporter say, that after last night we have enhanced our reputation as a modern club, open and welcoming to all.?

A crying shame we have to contemplate this when we had a magnificent attendance and a professional display on the park.

    Hail, Hail.

Celtic park has always been a place where the Diaspora could express their passions, political thought and rebellious ideas. The notion that we should do away that is an anathema to me we would be the Scottish Arsenal then and nobody wants that do they?

I notice Bendtner plays for Rosenborg, big guy, dont know how well he is playing at present,do they play direct to him with others supporting for the knock downs.?

Bendtner was a spent force years ago.If he was ever a force that is.due to Celtic TV problems,I watched their game.Last weeks also.nothing about them impressed me.Very lucky in Ireland.Maybe I have watched their worst two games of the season, but its all I can go by.I said before, not one of their players would make our bench. Some fans going by the name. This is a very poor imitation of that Rosenborg team.

Celtic turn up ,play as we can,no problems.

  11. onenightinlisbon on

Did ourselves more harm than good with the banner last night and whether we like it or not we gave the hun media a stick to beat us with and deflect from the real issue that should be dominating Scottish football. When will we ever learn?

I agree, the GB love Celtic, those kids are fanatical. And if they want to support poor people in the community, and back Celtic players when they get racially abused, they should be applauded.

Spot on; the Jungle in the 70’s was like the Wild West. the songbook was far more controversial as well (ditties like “Uncle Dickie’s Dead” etc.)

Drunkeness and violence were prevalent home and away; bottles being lobbed skirmishes even amongst our own in the Jungle. Remember the nutter trying to attack WGS from the Jungle?

The rose tinted specs are out in force this morning.

I understand what you are saying but playing a team halfway through their season before ours starts is a big disadvantage. Playing at home first is a disadvantage. Rosenborg are a better team than a lot of the others we could have got.

  24. 50 shades of green on

The irony from last night is we will get a bigger fine for a banner, than the f’n bigots will for throwing buckfast bottles at our players and fans. Imho

This morning someone at UEFA will get in his inbox circa 2,000 e-mails from all over the world from the looking to be offended at anything to do with our club, how many come from journalists (aye right) accounts remains to be seen.

Do we cow doon and hide or do we get into their faces and let them know that we will not forgot ?

You and only you can decide.

Me I would rather sing my songs and wave my banners than try to injury someone with a projectile thrown out of hatred .

  25. The Green Man says SACK THE Board on

Anybody that wants to call Celtic supporters ‘Parasites’, should say that to their faces.

Cowards behind keyboards calling Celtic supporters parasites….you can fuck right off

  26. In my youth I wa one of the mad mental rebels from the Jungle.Every song belted out.Me and my mates made huge banners. Some, today, would be classed offensive.”the “OOR WULLIE”banner, which travelled to Lisbon was ours.We had it on display for Willie Wallaces first game. For me to turn around today and say anything derogatory about the GB would make me a hypocrite.I love them.I love their passion.I love their songs.I love their colour.

We get many”Back of the bus”comments on here. These guys will never be at”The back of the bus”.As my Auld Man used to say,God Rest Him,if it was”nt for people like them,we would be trampled underfoot.

I know many will disagree, saying football, politics, etc should not be mixed.Trying telling that to fans in Italy,Spain,South America.I am not arguing with anyone, people have their own views, this is a blog about opinions. This is just mine.

  27. I used to enjoy reading back the night shift , absolutely brutal reading nowadays ,and to top it all we now have the news that the GB ain’t Celtic fans, jeezo heard it all now

  28. It’s easy to glorify a conflict you have never lived through. Easy to be a Castlemilk Provo.

  29. The Green Brigade make many mistakes and last night they made another one by reducing the song and banner book to suit SMSM and Linfield levels.

We were all intimidated by the ‘horror tie’ but they missed an opportunity to show the world what has made the ‘Celtic Euro Night’ well known in football circles throughout Europe.

Leigh Griffiths was shamefully taunted in Belfast Scott Sinclair is regularly racially abused but in direct retaliation TGB made the wrong choice by reverting to the bad old days.

They could have highlighted the sectarian and racial behaviour of Linfield by showing the world we are better, and sadly a missed chance.

    Big Jock .

    Our greatest hero.

    Hunnish ?

Why don`t you stick that label on him as well ?

    WHY I DID IT!

    (Celtic View 1972)

Jock Stein explains that foray into the crowd at the Stirling game

‘The Wreckers are chanting about things that have nothing to do with football’

I don’t like criticising Celtic fans. But I have to take odds with at least a section of them. What I did on Saturday was something I’ve felt like doing for quite a while.

It’s my sincere wish that it will have a lasting effect, as I’m sure that the vast majority of our fans do. Celtic supporters have enjoyed a lot of good times during the past few years and all of it was due to hard work – by the players, the backroom boys and the directors.

The fans too have played a major role and we don’t want to see it all ruined now by the bad element who have recently emerged. Nor do we want to see the fans of long standing who followed us through the lean years discouraged from watching us play.

This bad element – or the wreckers as the View called them last week – are singing and chanting about things which have nothing to do with football.

Surely there are enough Celtic songs without introducing religion or politics or anything else.

  31. The Green Man says SACK THE Board on

FFS, first it was a scarf that provoked huns, now its a GB banner that has offended everybody.

What will you all be offended by next. Drainpipe Trousers, Teenagers, Crisp Pokes, Haircuts.

So, a few of the GB had a banner. Its hardly the end of the world.

Maybe you should watch the news for a few hours, try Syria.

  32. The jungle was in a different era. How many females and how many higher education students were there.? How many non white faces ? Gang fights, peeing in cans and drunkenness were common. And tolerated and accepted I may add. For those of us who frequented it , it was magic at the time. A working class environment From a different century.

Now we want whole families to attend, from every colour , every background and every social scale and we are trying to give them the facilities to suit.
