I advise the Celtic FC, to play the £49 old firm derby, behind closed doors, or not at all.

Its just, that I’ve been hearing things.

I can’t say anymore than that, for obvious reasons.

Be careful, then you don’t have to be sorry.

    Good luck.

  2. Jobo what about an EK weather report?

The sleep counter is great, but the weather is just as important.

Bring Paddy Roberts home Brendan, he has something to prove after a disappointing season last year, through injury and wee Jamsie keeping him out. Bring him home.

9m for Boyatta, na not for that price, Yon guy with the big giant heed at Leicester was being quoted in the 50 m bracket, Boyatta is better than him..

Now l know all the arguments about never played down south etc etc, if they are really serious start at something just above the 20m then we can talk..

9m just to cheap imho for Dedryck.

    Morning Tims.

Once again folks, there is no old firm it died when ach you awe know when.

£9m for Boyata who will most probably leave at the end of his contract. He is only useful for 3 champions/ Europa league qualifing games assiming he won’t make this weeks game. Thereafter he becomes a liability if he hasn’t signed a new deal with no long term commitment.

The trouble is McKenna tore his hamstring yesterday and Denayer isn’t match fit or at least wouldn’t slot in to our defence as easily in the short term.

We got £7m for Armstrong but £9m for Boyata now looks low even for a player in his last year of contract due to the inflated fees in England.

I would have let Boyata go for drastically less in the Spring but thanks to Martinez we are looking at a substantial fee. Wonder if we regret letting Sviatchenko go now given what we could have got for him from the clubs down south.

It’s unlikely we could replace Boyata now but I do think we could get better at half the money. Highly likely we will be looking at another Man City (or other EPL)young centre back?

  7. We will see what CHs become available .We wont get a better CH than Boyatta for half the money.Talking guff there.Nothing works in our favour here with the timing. If it is not a bullshit story,we have to take the alleged 9 million.Boyatta could run down his contract. If he wants to go,let him.Alderweirald supposedly going for 50 million. This is the madness we have to compete with.

I have stopped worrying.Does not a jot of good.

Apologies for late reply – although I’m only a, once a month poster – I do feel obliged to respond to anyone who acknowledges a post

Yes you could argue we may not have got the pen if Griffiths was the victim. the sending off I keep my view, and yes it is the start of the season and a beautiful day but I still think they look better than last year. 4 games in Europe (crap teams) and one at Aberdeen (another crap team) does not make a season – but it gives you a clue They are focused on defence 2 goals conceded in 5 games (both last minute)

I think my point about Sevco is – they are still rubbish but better rubbish than last year

Only a fool (IMHO) would ignore them – They ignored us in 1998 – keep an eye on them keep them down and keep humiliating them but do not ignore or underestimate them

As I said the second 5 will be interesting

    Hail Hail

  9. Right you lot, let’s get a few things straight about the footballing weekend just passed (I don’t know if this will straighten anything out as I haven’t read back and i’ve typed this sentence before fully thinking about what I’m going to post).

Firstly, Celtic…A thoroughly professional flag day performance for about 75-80 mins against a Livi team whom I have already written off as relegation fodder. Great to have big Tam back – those feet! Despite being mildly impressed by Gamboa, I felt the defence was more balanced with Lustig back and the team playing 3-5-2. Disappointing to switch off late on and concede a goal but it matters little really. More disappointing was the injury to Ntcham – has he been fined for that yet? Hopefully he is fit for at least the second leg against AEK.

I thought pretty much every Celtic player played well without being dazzling which is what you would expect from this kind of game against an opposition that rarely crossed the halfway line. Prediction: Livi will finish bottom with the worst points tally in living history. You can take that to the bank…or the bookies…wherever you like to take terrible predictions.

Aberdeen V Sevco – what an awful game of football. Aberdeen really were hopeless. Sevco had a good first half against a team that really had no idea whatsoever what to do with the ball. McInnes, yet again, soiled the bed tactically. HOWEVER, in the second half Sevco decided to be equally atrocious by consistently booting the ball up the pitch, and straight back into Aberdeen possession. Now, you could argue that this was clever as Aberdeen were, as we’ve already covered, utterly hopeless, but it meant that the Sevco defence has no rest bite as the ball was launched forward again and again by a desperate Aberdeen team – they were taking a huge risk. As it transpired, the Aberdeen tactic of battering your head off a brick wall for an entire football match amazingly worked. Stevie G has to take the blame for that it was tactical tripe in the second half. Special mention for Conor Goldson’s body flop while trying to block Anderson’s shot – a thing of beauty.

Hibs? 3-0 very much flattered them but they are off to a good start.

Hearts? Really want to hump them next week.

    Everybody else? Who cares?

  10. Gerrard complains, about the red card,he Moreles, blatantly kicks out at McKenna,as for Sevco getting a penalty,I looked at a few times on Sevco Sports,to me Windass made a meal of it,but the ref to me is weak ,just to make it fair he sends off Moroles, then gives Sevco a penalty,so Gerrard stop complaining you took a point,as for Aberdeen,I think the fans deserve a better Coach Manager

  11. The only ” good ” thing about losing a goal on Saturday was, hardly anybody saw it.

Only a handful of fans and an army of police and stewards at section 111.

    HH.

  12. £9m for a good, but not great, error prone defender who can leave for £0 in January, is good business providing the money is re-invested in a replacement central defender, ie someone who goes straight into the starting 11 beside Ajer.

… but it meant that the Sevco defence has no rest bite…

I take it they were snapping at attackers’ heels.

  14. FF is a thing of ‘terrible beauty’ this morning:

“Timmy is now so bulletproof… he doesn’t care how blatant he is.”

    ————

“Get a trusted member of the coaching staff to appraise all of the match ifficiaks’ decisions n realtime and give the boss a synopsis of the ‘honest mistakes’ prior to interviews. This would give the gaffer the opportunity to speak with impunity (assuming he words his critique in the correct manager – which he’s more than capable of doing. [If he’s not subjected to provoktion]

    Forewarned is forearmed.

S G is also new enough to the cesspit that is Scottish football to be justified in saying something like:

On coming to Scotland it was highlighted to me that [Sevco] are on the wrong side of questionable refereeing decisions way too often. It was only after Sunday that I decided To look into this further.

Having now watched countless replays of ncidents from last season, as a former player I found it quite horrifying to see [Sevco] players so bjected to:

career threatening assaults ( i.e. Rossiter at Easter Road )

Players being assaulted by players and supporters ( Hampden – Hibs, Fir Park – Jig Moshni, Hampden – Motherwell)

Numerous [Sevco] players being subjected to broken bones etc. Which is a a concern on so many levels from Health & Safety to the ethos of the game.

Whilst at the same time; I’ve noted that Rangers players get sent off for nothing.”

    ————

“I would go for the headshot now. Get Stevie Gerrards own media links to do an external independant critical review video.

Get it thoroughly prepped and have the interviewer tee tee question up, make sure that everything is covered and covered in a manner is beyond reproval.

Got to go for the kill early doors.”

    ————

“We need to align it to last season, match officials cost Rangers a fortune last year and afforded our opponents carter Blanche to mane our players.”

    ————

“His interviews yesterday were spot on. Enough to let them know, but not get in trouble. He’s creating a siege mentality of us against them. Where it’s just them against us. It’s clear Scottish football has not or doesn’t want to move on from the past… The mear fact they are appalled that we have the audacity to aim higher than beating Aberdeen to 2nd shows their hatred. Why would we not? We’ve got one of the biggest names in football managing us, did we hire him to show diddy clubs like Aberdeen respect when they’re due none! They seem to think we should shut up and be put in a corner to be kicked every now and then. They have well and truly Poked The Bear!”

    ————

“We should be requesting the May assault be subject to review as it resulted n our player getting a brain injury.” [Not something to which you will ever be subjected, Sammy.]

    ————

“To be honest, I think the club has made a very cunning investment in bringing Steven Gerrard up to Scotland.

Not just because I honestly believe he is the real deal as a potentially great football manager, but because politically in the world of football he has a profile that transcends a small country like Scotland, and that he will not be suppressed by parochial bigotry nor locally controlled and hidden hatreds.

When he speaks it will be a message that will pass across borders, it will resonate with authority and be listened to by people beyond the small time, small minded, small men….. that have for too long controlled the narrative in Scottish football.

If football was politics, then we have acquired a combination of Washington, Churchill and Bismarck with perhaps a smattering of Machiavelli all in one managerial signing.

The football world will now sit up and listen……..and Dave King has played a blinder.”

    ————

“Amazing how 1/5 of the Demographic of the country can be in so many of the highest positions of power.

They have infested everything from Top to bottom.”

    ————

“No, it isn’t amazing at all.

It has been repeated throughout history and has been evident in many societies around the world and is actually quite commonplace.”

    ————

    “Its in their DNA.

Suppose that’s what happens when you’re allowed to segregate innocent kids at 4/5 years old to Apartheid Sectarian Schools and brainwash them early.”

    ————

“I’ve recently joined facebook and I’m making my feelings known. We are being conned.”

    ————

“I suspect that they will always work as a community to further their community interest rather than the national one.

I also suspect that this is a mentality nurtured in the school environment and encouraged culturally.

I have no doubt that in Scotland, Roman Catholics have used these advantages to elevate themselves as a community to the disadvantage of others.

Over time the others will naturally become a less well-represented majority, lose civic power, and eventually become an underclass.

    It isn’t rocket science.”

    ————

“Mate its the exact same as Ulster. All the Prod prisoners were learning how to play the flute or whatever while the Tarriers were educating themselves etc and now look.”

    ————

“I remember when I started in the printing trade in 1995 as an Apprentice. There was NO RC’s in it. You had to be a Prod to get in.

One of the first things I got asked in the interview was what school I went too. Now look at things.”

    ————

“The proportion of the population who identified as ‘Church of Scotland’ fell from 42% to 32%, whereas the proportion who were ‘Roman Catholic’ stayed the same at 16%.”

    ————

“What was the timescale for the drop from 42% to 32% mate?

    10% is quite dramatic.

That happens again, there will be equal numbers almost with Protestants & Papes.

If we are to mobilise, best doing it while being in the majority.”

    ————

“In the early 70s, i was serving my apprenticeship in British Rail works Springburn, my old shop steward was as orange as they come, he put me through my Ds in the OO, he used to speak about the cunning papes. The post in this thread, remind me of the things that my fellow brother and bear used to warn us about. Please lets not be conned.”

  15. Go tell the Spartim on

I think once Boyata goes, and as Lennybhoy has alluded too, we’ve been expecting it, i see us bringing in a young loan signing (under 23) im not in the know but it seems like keeping with the strategy we seem to have adopted. Denayer would be good enough too, if he rediscovered his form when he was here last.

That’s the predictive text, honest guv – hey hang on a minute, when Stevie was saying “provoction” was he getting “provocation” and “prediction” mixed up with regard to a Morelos red card? A wee bit of parapraxis?

Those extracts from FF make me laugh but, at the same time, slightly unnerve me. The ignorance on so many counts plus the intransigence, lack of self-awareness, failure to acknowledge NOW is disturbing. Least disturbing is the expected poor spelling and grammar.

“If football was politics, then we have acquired a combination of Washington, Churchill and Bismarck with perhaps a smattering of Machiavelli all in one managerial signing.”

Why no comparison with Martin Luther King or Nelson Mandella or Frederick of Prussia, God or, for that matter, Virginia Woolf?

  20. Whichever CH we sign, assuming we do sign one before the end of the month, then he should be naturally left sided. If we’re to continue to play three at the back we need a left footed centre half to give us balance. Simunovic cant play there (he struggled against a Livvy team that hardly attacked), Boyata hasn’t looked comfortable there, Lustig and Hendry havenn’t even be considered for that role. Compper is left sided but is never fit enough to play. Ajer is probably the best on the left side but he seems to have cemented the centre of the three role for the forseeable future (rightly so).

The McKenna rumour is probably fueled by the fact he’s a lefty although his injury makes any move for him put off until January at the earliest.

  21. BOBBY MURDOCH'S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS on

Seems we have a few days to decide whether to take £9m for Boyata,or keep him for the season and lose him for nothing. After all,I’ve not seen anything that suggests he’s interested in a new contract.

I can see sense in each option-on his game,he is our best CH,and Ajer is still learning the role. Hendry will make it with us,I think, but he hasn’t quite filled the jersey yet. And Simo, who SHOULD be our top CH,is prone to injury, rash decision-making,and rank stupidity.

But £9m. Didn’t see that coming, not even a couple of days go,never mind a couple of years ago when he couldn’t even get near our bench. And we have over three weeks to source a replacement. Which we will need.

  22. Doubling his salary, the bright lights of London and improving his international prospects will be too hard to resist for Dedryck. He will go, it is a matter of when. Not sure if he is fit for the AEK games but would prefer to keep him for now but with the English window closing in 3 days he will probably be away by the end of the week.

  23. The hands cant hit what the eyes cant see on

I would take £9m for Boyata. His reputation has been buoyed by his participation in the world cup but for us for he has been inconsistent but for the 2nd half of the season in Rodgers first year.

Plus, as we have heard from many, Celtic are waiting for the English window to close before making signings, so I fully expect we have people lined up to sign should Boyata leave.

I think it was more likely the parapraxis was with “concoction” and “promotion” since they will not succeed in advancing either their image or performance on the field without merging the two in loud, aggressive ways.

  25. BR doesn’t want to sell Boyata. This is a defining moment. Is he in charge of ALL football matters or not?
