England Coach Eddie Jones after today’s loss:

“Scotland were terrific, played with a lot of intensity. I take responsibility, I didn’t prepare them properly”.

     ——–

    No finger pointing or deflection.

do you think thats what he said to his players after the game?

TONTINE TIM We have the added problem of early euro comp qualifiers to prepare for .

*mibbees aye mibbees naw, I widnae put too much faith there, as Covid will still be about the financial rewards wullnae be that great.

You have better knowledge and memory , but i think this is the biggest shambles i can remember, from being in such a position of power and stability …

*naw never no even the last time we missed the 10 as we were still well in contention up tae New Year and only poor goal keeping and age cost us.

The following season in which I had a lot of faith in we lost Jock tae an MVA that summer as well as several players.

  4. CORKCELT on 6TH FEBRUARY 2021 6:52 PM

Scotland didn’t just beat England, they hammered them.

The only injustice is that the scoreboard doesn’t reflect just how good they were.

They now have Wales, Ireland & Italy at home, if they play like they did today, they will win those 3 games.

France away might be a step too far, but France could slip up against England & Ireland, if Scotland win their home games that might be enough.

    =========

    Agree CORKCELT.

It was an 11-6 doing!! 75% in the first half, 60-odd in the second – penalty count, tackles, penalties, etc. – Scotalnd totally dominant from first whistle to last.

    I LOVED THAT :-)))))

I’m not sure how much home advantage will come in to play given the lack of fans, but if the coaching, application and committment are as good as they were today- we are in with a chance.

One of my best days in my whole life was being at the Grand Slam game against France in 1984 – 21-12.

Thanks for the reply …… i agree covid will play its part this season and for mibbe years to come ..

I know we’ve had poor seasons , dreadful runs of nothing way back .

We’ve had some poor finishes at the end of seasons too that cost us dearly , but to come off a quadruple treble and our 9th league title in a row to disintegrate into this mess on and off the park astounds me ……at worst i thought the league was going to be a lot closer this season with us even just shading it because they have improved …..Jeez ,honestly my GABBER is well and truly absolutely FLASTED ……..

Hopefully you and the others that have faith ,will be right and it will all go well .👍

  12. CELTIC are eyeing up Manchester City transfer guru Fergal Harkin as their new director of football.

Not sure I understand your pushback regarding “Taking the knee”?

More that any other nation Scotland should be identifying with the issues involved.

In May it will be the 6th anniversary of the death of Sheku Bayoh in Fife in 2015 and to our eternal shame it took the later death of George Floyd 4000 miles to highlight how poorly Scotland as a society had — not — dealt with that tragedy.

Sheku Bayoh happened in broad daylight in a Scottish street and the civic / societal / political response was and is an ongoing disgrace to our efforts to be classed a modern progressive entity.

In that context the respose for the egg chasers needs to be questioned and answers sought regarding their reasons for doing so little.

The response to the death of Sheku Bayoh is a national disgrace.

At every level it shows us to be weak / limited / scared / defensive and most importantly of all racist.

At least people were prepared to stand up to authority regarding the death of George Floyd.

For us it was a case of move along please / nothing to see hear.

Some may have shouted but no-one listened.

  14. garygillespieshamstring on

I thought Catholics weren’t supposed to have segs outside marriage.

    Or maybe that was sex.

  15. CQN outdoing itself with the rugby chat…

Wine, Golf, Whisky (the expensive stuff) and Rubgy – CQN defo not yer average Celtic site’s socio-demographic

And maybe thats a good thing.

As for the chat on taking the knee – for me it’ll be a black man who calls time on it – not someone who thinks along the lines of Dominic Raab

  16. just watched Sportscene – seems that there was only 1 hot topic from the Celtic match – the free kick/penalty decision. They didnt even show the elbow or the kung fu effort. Total c*nts. Making Sky look like Celtic TV.

  17. The hand of God on

Decent performance today until we gave away a soft goal should have been out of sight but ended up hanging on at the end.The young boy Welsh did well let’s hope he gets an extended run of games.

  18. Madmitch

I’m unsure how much you know regarding the Sheku Bayoh case.

I should disclose- I’ve been privy to some of the initial investigation findings (independently)

This is not a scottish version of what happened recently in the US.

For now, I’ll say no more.

Read the Mark Daly piece for the BBC.

  19. The hand of God on

Spikeysauldman…yeah noticed that too. They did show an angle that proved it wasnt a penalty but didn’t bother talking about it..no footage of potential red card challenges.

  20. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-53076269

his feature was updated on 18 January to reflect developments in the case.

It’s about 07:20 on a Sunday when the first two police officers arrive. They’re responding to 999 calls of a black male carrying a knife.

The young man is disorientated, wandering. He’s behaving erratically, and looks like he could be drunk or high on drugs.

The officers bring their van to a rapid stop directly in front of him, the sirens and their shouts piercing the quiet morning.

He no longer has a knife and appears to be walking away, but two more officers arrive. They draw their batons and irritant sprays; they use them.

Within 45 seconds the man is taken to the ground, struggling, as more officers arrive.

A total of nine uniformed officers are soon on the scene.

A witness sees up to six policemen kneeling and lying across the man, and hears him shout: “Get off me.”

By the time the officers do get off, it’s too late – he is unconscious. The officers begin resuscitation.

    Whoever refused is embarrassing.

    never realised its mandatory !

Is it any coincidence these guys actually can work things out for themselves . Private school educated individuals that don’t worry or look around at what the others are doing . Guys the earn a fraction of “foorballers ” the uneducated .

  22. Lubo

Private school educated individuals that dont give a flying feck about others maybe ? They have worked out that the status quo is alright Jack.

And why should monirity sports in this country, continent, planet earn any more than they currently do ?

  23. madmitch

I have made a similar point on here some months back, that protest must have a focus, and if you really support Black Lives Matter, the focal point of that should be the death of Sheku Bayou at the hands of nine officers of PoliceScotland, ……..PoliceScotland, a creation of the Scottish Government just a few years earlier. Absent that focus, and remember the police officer officer most responsible for the death of George Floyd has long been charged with causing his death, Celtic players, or Scotland players ‘taking the knee’ before games is little more than virtue signalling of the worst kind. Focus it on Sheku and I will be 100% behind it. Panorama addressed the issue just a few weeks back, helping to and beginning to break down the PoliceScotland, and the Police Federation narrative that has surrounded this case since 2015. I will not criticise those who do not take the knee before a sporting event while Senior Police Officers, Prosecutors Attorney Generals, Lord Advocates and leading Politicians in Scotland are prepared to turn a blind eye to an injustice that happened on our very streets for the self same crime that George Floyd was guilty of….that of walking while black.

  24. Celticmac

With respect, that’s a jumbled mess

Like me saying, Celtic are poor at corners

    It’s cold

Ergo, once it gets warmer, we wont be a mess at corners.

in the joint statement referenced by Mr Yousaf, the sister of Mr Bayoh – who died in 2015 after being restrained by officers in Kirkcaldy, Fife – also urged those demanding justice for Mr Floyd to protest digitally.

The statement warned progress on easing lockdown in Scotland is “fragile” and said: “Like so many we want to stand in unity with millions across our planet to show solidarity with those protesting against racial injustice in the USA but also to support those challenging racial injustice and discrimination in Scotland.

    Uncle Jimmy

I’m not privy to any inside info – watched the documentary & read the Mark Daly stuff (that link too). You may know more than me about events surrounding the actual arrest scene itself.

  27. Lubo we need you on

    SPIKEYSAULDMAN

you obviously get my point , i am struggling to get yours .The average pro footballers earns way more than the average rugby player. Do you have a problem with them wanting to represent their country without wishing to take the knee ?

    Whats the issue ?

When we go to japan and play them , should we take the knee

When we go to Argentine should we take the knee ?just for the one black guy they have in the team

When we go to Israel and play them do we take the Knee ?

I get up every morning at 5.30 , there is no fecker at the bottom of the drive on their knee for me ……

  28. Spikey

    With respect, sir,I do.

Other than directly to Paul, i wouldn’t wish to divulge further.

Comparisons between what happened in Kirkaldy and the US are lazy and inaccurate

Mark has one line (under reported) which is fairly significant to those who read the papers

  29. uncle jimmy

    And you know this how?

And if so why do you not enlighten us?

Something the police officers involved never have.

A witness interviewed on Panorama directly contradicted the PoliceScotland narrative.

Specifically stated that it did not happen the way they have stated.

How has he or his evidence been dealt with in relation to this case?

Enlighten us on that while you are at it.

  30. spikeysauldman on

    Lubo

“When we go to Argentine should we take the knee ?just for the one black guy they have in the team”

just for the one black guy ???????????????????????????????????

  31. Celtic Mac

There have been 2 investigations (internal and PIRC) which have found no offense

Mark Daly, bless him, made a pertinent point

Many want a third investigation as it suits their narrative.

We will spend £5.4m on a nothing investigation. Would you like another after that? Or another?

To mention floyd and bayo is lazy .

  32. spikeysauldman on

    Uncle Jimmy

you mentioned reading the Mark Daly piece.

that and the documentary were the main basis of my comparison.

I’m not saying the case was exactly the same as GF’s.

  33. Lubo we need you on

    SPIKEYSAULDMAN

What about the remainder of the team ? take another knee or just blank them ? are they already privileged ,poor bastxxxs, shame on them for being white .

Listen before you call me out as Tommy Robson or whatever his name is or even a new club supporter , know this . I am not racist , its just my opinion that this knee stuff has to stop . By all means banners , awareness etc yes , but looking around the park to see who is on the knee is distracting the players and I believe affecting our club
