Signing event in Stirling

Joe Miller will be at Waterstones in Stirling tomorrow (Thurs) from 5pm to sign copies of Caesar and the Assassin, Billy McNeill and Davie Hay’s account of managing Celtic from 1978 to 1991, told in their own words to Alex Gordon.

Joe is a great character who worked under McNeill, Hay and Alex Ferguson, and now heads the Celtic Former Players Association. If you’re in the Stirling area, get along and bring your camera.

The 2015 CQN Annual is through design and ready to ship next week. You can pre-order yours now.

  1. the glorious balance sheet on

    A very good day indeed.

And so the rewriting of history begins within 1 hour of tonight`s football matches finishing. No mention of the Petrofac Training Cup result on the BBC Scotland News. “Move on, nothing to see here, it never happened.”

  2. Reporting Scotland – just mentioned the Celtic result. No mention of the Alloa result at all! LOL!

You mentioned it was a bitterly cold night at CP. Just got me thinking. I can remember the most freezing I’ve ever been at the fitba was that night against the late great Bobby Robson’s Barca. De La Pena ( remember him) played a blinder. I couldn’t feel my knees until the following day!

  4. ....PFayr supports WeeOscar on

A moderate if not perfunctory performance from CFC …job done

Real hilarity served up by Sevco ….I can’t think of any reason why I shouldn’t find that amusing

Sevco’s continued inability to win the part timers cup is utterly hilarious ……

To think that the hoards will be raging about it causes me even greater amusement

    What’s not to like ???

  5. The fragrant Sally Magnuson apols for spelling just read out the Celtic result and with a wry smile didn’t mention the sevco result.

    Ha ha

  6. Just back from game, glass of red poured and sitting down for MOTD.

Good first half performance tonight and but for good goalkeeping and bad finishing we could have been well clear by the break. Second half not so good, less chances but still comfortable.

Tonev looked good in first half but faded after a couple of misses. Mulgrew was dreadful and was rightfully hooked at half time. Van Dijk MOTM by a mile. Johansen is becoming a very important player and it was noticeable that when Commons came on and Stefan was moved wide right we lost control of the game and they had more possession.

  7. Given that tonight’s top game in Europe was covered by BBC Alba, you would have thought BBC Scotland news would have shown the goals, or at least mention the score!

Cant wait for Bitton to score a screamer, will do wonders for his confidence. Played well again tonight when he came on, surely he’s done enough now to be a starter.

    HH!

  10. Tim Malone Will Tell on

My mental association with “Alloa” was always “Sweetheart Stout” with a comely image of Maggie Broon on the side of a beer can.

Now, the words “Alloa” and “Petrofac shattered dream” will always be synonymous to me…

  11. A good result tonight

good Celtic teams in the past have always found games like this difficult at times.

I am not a bad man but I will tell you why im interested in the alloa or any score the humiliates that fat sleekit coward and the zombies (breath) :))))

They are A new club but same crowd of deludeds that follow them best d,escription I have heard (Different S**T same flies).

So I will continue to enjoy them hitting every jaggy rock all the way down into the abyss

  12. Sorry but from DR, I had to post it.

When Dean Shiels put Rangers two goals up, it looked as though it was a procession to the final.

BUT! Alas and alack, three excellent goals from Alloa – two from Greig Spence, the other from Ryan McCord – turned the match in their favour.

I don’t know what to write here – Alloa’s comeback surely ranks as one of the greatest moments in the history of the Challenge Cup. No doubt about it. Their team was decimated with injury, they couldn’t fill their subs bench, but it was a tremendous performance. I don’t think there’s enough superlatives to describe it.

As for Rangers… What to say about that? A dire first half performance, but the opening 15 minutes of the second period was hot and they looked good for the win, but some of the defending was appalling. McCord’s goal in particular was a shambles – how was the ball allowed to run along the six yard box without a challenge?

Where Ally McCoist goes from here is anyone’s guess.

  13. The Spirit of Arthur Lee on

I know it’s been said Ally couldn’t manage a piss up in a brewery, but he can’t even beat a team from one lol

  14. bognorbhoy oscar in my thoughts on

Wonder if the final of the petrofac cup will get any coverage .

or is it back to a meaningless trophy ?

  15. the glorious balance sheet on

BBC Scotland can mention Raith Rovers beating Celtic 20 years after it happened.

But can`t mention Alloa beating Rangers 60 minutes after it happened.

Strange sense of news values that.

  16. mullet and co 2 on

McCulloch elbowed an Alloa player full on the jaw with intent whilst having no regard for the ball. He then bends down and shouts in the poor chap he almost knocked unconscious ear.

    Result? Yellow card.

  17. “So i will continue to enjoy them hitting every jaggy rock all the way down into the abyss…”

    Beautifully put.

    ================

    Are you surprised though..?

  21. Evening all

Just home from CP. There seems to be some sort of gloating round these parts about some results at The Recs. Cannot think why. He lied.

Not a classic in Paradise but Virgil had his best game in a long time and some of our actual play- especially before we scored – was good. Nir Bitton made a positive impression but we lost our way a bit in the last quarter and I really cannot see any merits in Steffan Scepovic so far.

Oh and somebody said it was freezing at the match – I thought it was ok. Not like a game v Hamilton on Boxing Day a few years back. That really was cold

  23. Not long back.Plenty chances created but some of the finishing was woeful.

Superb save from CG near the end.

Backing Celtic @ -2 helped make it an even more frustrating night.

Possession of at the result from Alloa.

    I backed the draw ;-)))
