  1. They deserved the win, but watch for a complete lack of reference in the press to the indiscipline of their bench. We saw it at Easter Road when they charged en masse towards the Hibs bench following the tackle that prompted the bottle incident, we saw it again at Pittodrie and again today.

However, it shouldn’t detract from Lennons shambolic team & tactical selection. Johnston, Forrest, Christie MIA in midfield, while Ntcham wastes away on the bench…

  2. glendalystonsils on

Celtic outplayed and outfought . Lenny outthought. Poor performance collectively with some poor individual performances and one or two who are not good enough full stop.

Today reminded me of the bad old days when they were top dogs.

  3. Will never pay for a match on sky sports again…NEVER

Nothing to do with the result.

All to do with KRIS BOYD

His immediate summary was a disgrace to broadcasting

Slaughtered our fans and described the game as men against boys and total dominance.

Which was a nonsense…..the game was pretty even in reality with the away side deserving to win.

We lost …we were shite..they deserved to beat us.

Although if im honest…..they did not play much better than us.

And McGREGOR was off his line for the penalty save FACT

Not hearing much in the media about that are we.?

I am not going to slaughter Neil Lennon

He perhaps got it wrong today about he has more class in his little finger than the football hooligan that manages them.

Just watch Gerrards classless celebration at full time……football hooligan scum just like the supporters of the club he manages.

The league title remains in our hands AND we remain top

Just remember that folks before Neil Lennon gets slaughtered.

  4. At no point did we step up and match their effort.

Thought the team selection was correct in terms of personnel. My only complaint was that we have been using a different system for the preceding few games, so reverting to “normal” positions for Christie and Forrest meant different partnerships and we never got going.

Despite conceding we did not deserve anything from the game, we did spurn the better chances in the game.

  5. Don’t forget that we had two attempts cleared off the line today from Julien, and our performance was nowhere near as bad as the cup final. Rangers really didn’t dominate the second half, and both their goals were high quality and not easy to stop. That said, we must face up to the fact that we are level pegging with them now . Anyone who does not think that is deluded. THey have as many match winners in their side as we do, and more worryingly Gerrard has really won the tactical battle in the last 2 games. However, today was not a match they could have lost as it would have ended Gerrard effectively and you could see that in their total application today. We were too casusal and missed a great chance to kill them off today. We need a back up striker, another def mid and maybe a new centre half. Also Frimpong was brilliant offensively today, but Forest, Christie and Johnson had a collective nightmare and got bullied and I think that was the reason we lost

  6. It’s far from over, half a league season to go. They’re a hard working team with a good shape back to middle. Not much more. Still think we’ll win this league.

  7. when will people wake up to the fact neil lennon is part of peters plan he will need a scape goat for blowining the ten which is part of the plan to save auld firm

  8. James Forrest needs a long time on the bench, Young frimpon busting a gut ob the right while James jinked inside and hid behind the nearest defender.

A guy very low on confidence.

  9. Also, the result today means they have to go all in from a financial perspective. They think they can win the league so can’t afford to sell their biggest assets. But they can’t afford NOT to sell them either.

  10. After years of great times this day was eventually bound to come. The mark of the team, the mark of the Blog & the mark of the individual is in how we react.

There will be trolls on of course but they are simply an occupational hazard, we are all bitterly disappointed but we need firstly to remember all the good days this team has given us.

Yes the performance needs analyzing and we need to get stuff off our chests, we also need to face the fact that it’s a 50/50 race for the Title.

However no matter how down we are remember we are just half way through the League nothing has been lost apart from a game of Football.

  11. Lost the game in midfield today. Brown did ok, the rest were poor. Centre backs were also good except for 1 lapse by Ajer for their second. Why no-one on the post? They cleared 2 off the line by having a man on the posts at our corners, Disappointing, but everything is still there for the taking. Use the break well Celtic.

Happy New Year to Tims everywhere.

  12. SUPERSUTTON

They won’t sell. They can smell blood and their aim is to stop the ten at ANY cost. Their plan will be to win the league and worry about the finances later.

Reckless? Maybe but I for one am tired of hearing about both clubs’ financial situation while on the field we are in grave danger of losing the league.

  13. I love Frimpong but has he been told to okay more cautiously today? He had the beating of the two guys doubling up on him but seemed reluctant to be really direct.

Also I think when El Hamed is fit he should play in these games. I thought he was immense at Ibrox and very very good in other games where we were under a bit more pressure than we normally are.

I think we should also look at the shape of the midfield more generally when we go to Ibrox – a 4-3-2-1 maybe?

I heard Phil Neville telling Michael Owen that fergie used to tell his united teams they had to play a different shape at anfield because they couldn’t play their normal game there and had to respect that. Whatever we think about the orcs we might do well to get off our high horse and do something similar. We hurt them on the break.

Weary limbs rested, a few fresh faces and a new plan all required. This may bring some focus to the winter break and that’s no bad thing.

I’ll say it now, we will win this league but it’s going to be harder than I thought. Humility helps sometimes.

Having said all of that, their goal aside (great header but terrible defending) did they create anything in the second half? I don’t recall. We are better, but we need to work better and think better.

    Come on Celtic!

Someone mentioned ‘it’s still in our hands’.

At the risk of pedantry, I’m sorry to say they would win the league by a point if both teams win all their games from now until the end of the season.

Unlikely, I know, but they have the momentum.

  15. And finally. We are typically better in the second half of the season with fewer European games to cope with.

  16. Ajer got about 6 inches off the ground jumping to defend corner when we went 2-1 behind.

I said last week the same thing. High balls into the box leave him struggling.

  17. so they have broke their duck at celtic no one else to fear that’s what has been allowed to happen

  18. no one is slaughtering Lennon – we are wondering why he couldn’t see the team dead on its knees hanging on against st Mirren . we needed fresh legs , we needed footballers in the midfield. Instead we went swashbuckling depending on Mikey Johnson who is young and inexperienced . Win the battle then go play – we did the opposite and finished with a team we should have started with. very very annoying when we lose and could easily have won!

  19. I was happy with our starting 11, although Ntcham should have been on sooner.

It will be very difficult in January to sign a league winning player, signings can be hit and miss. Johnston, Forrest and Christie were too easily pushed off the ball today. They out muscled us.

A long three weeks in store again although last year we had the benefit of the game in hand and an easier run in.

They have both this year so we’re worse off by some distance.

  20. glendalystonsils on

Ajer was culpable at their 2nd goal made no attempt to attack that ball coming in. He wasn’t our worst performer though…..he’s a long way behind James Forrest for that award .

Unlikely, I know, but they have the momentum.

    ———

It’s impossible for both teams to win all their remaining games as we have still to play each other two more times.

That’s why it’s still in our hands.

  22. Rangers deserved there win,no doubt about it.Hopefully Lenny can get a Centre Half another Midfielder and another Striker as for James Forrest is a good winger but he needs a bit of competition to keep him on his toes Lenny needs to introduce Sheved Arazani sooner rather than later,as for Jullien me personally don’t rate him

  23. GUTLESS Performance I am sad to say….APART from Scott Brown……..and Devoid of ideas from middle to front.

Too many passengers throughout the entire game, with Broony having to try and do everything on his own.

Even IF we had scored an equaliser for 2-2, we wouldnt have deserved it.

Their winning Goal…., why didnt we have anyone on the near post ? …..They cleared TWO attempts off their goal Line, by having a Hun player on the post .

They won almost every 1st AND 2nd ball…and retained possession much better than us.

In all honesty, from the start we looked like we were playing with only about 7 or 8 Men….too many of our players posted missing in action.

After last week Gerrard claimed that NONE of his coaching team would get involved on the touchline ever again and yet one of his coaching clowns was trying to cause a riot after The Ugly Kid Morleos was correctly sent off for Cheating once again…Gerrard himself wasnt much better .

  24. Corkcelt,

My friend, We lost more than just a game of football today.

We lost momemtem we lost self belief but more importantly we lost pride.

We can of course regain all, but deluding ourselves will hopefully be put to bed.

Not a time for recriminations, but together we will prevail.

    HH to all.

Sometimes James Forrest looks as if he doesn’t fancy it . Today he GENUINELY didn’t fancy it.

  26. Saddened to see Neil asking the fans to calm down in the 1st half. The fans could see that something wasn’t right tatically, but, as usual, the professional guys dismiss them out of hand. We were tacticslly inept today and deserved nothing from the game. Forrest hid in this game he actually hid, as when Frimpong had the ball, before the change of system, he had no options from him and had to either wait on Christie making a move or eventually, which happened more often, played the ball backwards. A bit too much like the BR end days the way we played today, far to much indecision and continually taking the easy option, which sideways or backwards. Really need to find some bodies in the winter break to get us going again por cierto.
