  1. There are no easy games in Europe, especially when a game comprises of an approximate round trip of 6,000 miles and losing by 4 goals to 1 at one stage.

Its pressure, its stressfull and jet lag is real , no matter the comfort.

In that context , i though we played as well as I expected and we were unlucky not to win. St J were well organised and played to their game plan. We even gifted them a goal.

As for Callum McGregor his improvement is plain for all to see, with the possible exception of WGS. I really believe he could be the potential superstar in our midst.

    Nevertheless the journey continues.

HH to all, and especially to those who made the effort today. For some the effort means a wake up call , cira 04.00 hrs.

  2. From Brendan

Rodgers was happy to take responsibility for the visitors’ goal, saying: “I always ask the players to play, to have the courage and the nerve to do that and if they make a mistake it is up to me. “We had one example with Kieran, under pressure with no-one near him, probably felt as a young player that he had to smash it forward and we end up giving the ball away. “It (I) was signalling to stay calm. This is football. “You have to stay calm when under pressure, not just the players but outside. “Or you can play Scottish football. Just smash it up the pitch. It hasn’t got you anywhere for 20-odd years. “It is understandable that the supporters want to see the ball in the box. “But I’ve said since I came up here, the quicker it goes forward the quicker it comes back at you.”

It worries me, BR will obviously leave at some point but I would rather it was cos he had taken us as far as he can, and we are a way short of that imo, I would imagine that if he gets messed around it will be sooner rather than later, I understand that he will never slag the suits off, so we will never know what he is thinking, we are cash rich presently, so much so if we don’t spend we will have to pay tax on some of it, my fear is that the hotel will take priority over the team on the park.

I do hope that simply qualifying for the Champions League isn’t the full extent of our ambition.

The team is on the verge of being one of the best for many years, but it isn’t there yet.

Who would you replace our CEO with ?

Remember Peter Lawell only does what his boss Dermot tells him what to do, seemingly Brendan R has a great working relationship with his bosses as well….. we are in a good place, by the way I will never like any Celtic board but in my lifetime this is the best we have ever had (just my opinion :-)

Yes, but the board soon p the decent managers off, and they leave.

More transfer window last minute bs.

Surprised we had Mark Wilson on CTV today.

Mark has been on and aff CTV for over 2 seasons now.

All of the fans need to stick with this team after all the joy they’ve given us in the last year. We need to accept the odd mistake and setback like today, especially given the consistent excellence of the team. Most supporters do, but we have been spoilt by the quality we’ve seen and there’s a risk a minority begin to take it for granted.

I think we need a couple of players in to freshen things up and retain impetus. All good teams do or they risk standing on their laurels. Hopefully the Board will deliver for Brendan this week.

The PLC will never learn from their mistakes. We have one of the best managers in the game, and id be willing to bet that the PLC will p him off shortly, if not already.

PL says the CL is box office. What good is that if the PLC wont spend any money.

I would say…some of our goals have been…the quicker it goes forward…we score and catch teams out.

However I like BR’s ‘management’ of this.

  14. GFTB…

I’d replace him with the Koch brothers, because they’re severely loaded and that’s what counts.Without piles of cash there is no meaning to life. Not sure if they’re Celtic fans mind. ;)))

Been a while since I’ve had to watch CTV, still surprised we have him on after the Zaluska court case.

  16. glendalystonsils on

Brendan has said he is looking to bring in quality. 2 /3 quality signings could see us surprise a few in the CL.

Failure to bring them in, added to the injury problems we have (and will have as we go through the season) and we could be looking at an even less successful CL campaign than last season.

That would be more progres than progress.

  17. TGM.

    It’s all Almore’s fault.

Peachy Lawwell is going to spend all the money on a top class cafe. :-))

We need an experienced centre back IMO.

Eric has been unsettled for a wee while now and we will sell him if the price is right.

    Hail Hail

  18. TGM

Brendan has done his bit, he has got us CL football two seasons on the trot, the support have done their bit, bought season tickets to beat the band, so far we have brought in ONE player that can be regarded as a first team starter, that imo is a shambles, we need players in if we are to do anything in the CL and as Brendan said have football after Christmas, will we get them, will Brendan get his his wishes and have players that will give him a fighting chance, a massive week for Pedro.

  19. blantyretim is praying for the Knox family on

Does the board tell the CEO to tell players they must use a particular agent or does the CEO tell the player he decides who to deal with or does the board allow the CEO to run the show the way he wishes or does the CEO and the PLC have no interest in the fans other than their cash…?

    Who knows ?

Now I have not read one comment, but

Can someone explain to me how Willie Collin gets on a football pitch ???

  24. B.T.

Of course by the politics at our football club, I mean the PLC not The G.B.

    Hail Hail

  25. Cowiebhoy

He brown nosed his way to the top and will do anything to stay there, just exactly what the SFA want.

  26. One Other thing on game today

Brendan, please remind Griff that it is a team game, tell him to lift his head and have a look around him,

  27. TH

We will just have to wait and see what happens, I don’t believe they have backed him like they could have.

As I said, one player in that could be regarded as a first team starter is a shambles imo, we have the money.

Brendan has stated that he wanted players in well before the qualifiers, he has said more than once, as far back as last year that he wanted a CB in, he must have the patience of a Saint.

if its true we have a heluva lot of work todo next week.

we have had injuries since begining of the year (cf) and now(cb)

no cover in any of those positions, poor planning but not surprised.

hope i am proved wrong by 31st.

    Cowiebhoy 8.10pm

Going back about 10yrs my niece (who is now a blinking school teacher) asked me “why is Mr Collum on the park” I explained he was the referee, Willie was her RE teacher her reply was “Mr Collum doesn’t even like football” that is a true tale from St Ambrose RC high school, maybe wee Billy Collum has always tried to compensate to his Masters for his RC upbringing :-)

  31. Brendan Rodgers has not spoken one word that indicates that he is unhappy at Celtic or at his treatment by the board or support.

Of course, this could be that he is just keeping his thoughts to himself in public, but privately he is seething and ready to walk.

    Or….. he could be happy.

None of us in the support, unless we are close to brendan AND prepared to publish his private thinking against his wishes, have any idea which situation is true.

Any speculation that Brendan is unhappy with the transfer activity because the poster making the assertion is unhappy with Celtic’s transfer activity, is merely guilty of attributing their own thoughts to others.

Personally, I would like Paddy and a CB, but, even if we get them in the next few days, we are unlikely to bed them back in the team before the first CL tie.

As usual, we will just have to go with the bling we have.

Just as we always have to gamble with CL qualification because it is always a gamble and you cannot stop it being so.

  32. glendalystonsils on

Brendan is quoted as saying that the best business is to be had at the end of the transfer window.

I wouldn’t presume to disagree with Brendan but I would have thought that selling teams might be more inclined to hold buyers to ransom as the clock ticks down.
