  1. Talk of a hun-Arsenal connection had me wandering down memory lane to the early 1960’s in London. They had a friendly?? testimonial at Highbury. The huns got into the ground early and gathered on the North Bank (the gooners home end). They were in usual good voice -derry walls -hello hello watp etc and well stocked up with carry-oots. The gooners were not too chuffed when they arrived to find their end taken over by a bunch of bigotted drunken unionjack waving low-lifes. Trouble kicked off but sadly the gonners were put to flight as a rain of bottles and boken glass came down on them. There was no police there an hour before the KO. Just remember thems chanting in the middle of the gooner cleared norf Bank ” We are the people” . The londoners were distusted by the hun riot and promised never to play them again!

  2. If, Wee Super Joe Miller had been used the correct way at Cellic, fae when we first signed him, he would have gone onto be Cellic’s Paulo Rossi….imho.

WSJ being used as a winger, wisnae the way to go…imho.

WSJ was played in his [correct] position, behind big McGhee, playing aff McGhee’s knock doons, in the 1989 SCF, and, Butcher n dodgy Gough, couldny handle WSJ….imho.

Wee Super Joe Miller’s signing for us, resulted in [lock-ins]on the night that he signed, in some of the Cellic pubs, back in the day.

Wee Super Joe Miller, JUNGLE hero CSC

    …….oot.

  3. The St Johnstone goal, was down to 2 Celtic players, who had all the time in the world ,to clear there line’s, Gordon who should have bootted as far as Brigton Cross,as for Ralston, played McLean on side, don’t keep blaming officials for our own mistakes.

    Stevens in trouble… Here’s Joe Miller…

And the celebrations begin on the Celtic bench.

Jock Brown was a brilliant commentator to be fair.

    Always sounded impartial to me.

That David Begg thing couldn’t hide his prejudice, very good nonetheless.

  6. How things change?

Was heading back OUT of Larkhall today on the return leg of the Avon gorge walk, after a tasty wee lunch in the lovely Applebank Inn, when I met a guy heading into the town with his proudly exposed “Lisbon Lions” t-shirt on. After the usual pleasantries I wished him well and I moved on, blessed with the knowledge that even in deepest, darkest Larkie the Bhoys are out and about and rubbing their faces in it.

  7. Does BR fine people for losing the ball?

Every game has bouts of pass the parcel when treat the ball like a hot potato and put pressure on ourselves — really needs to be sorted out.

CG’s sclaf was straight of central casting.

Mental GK who doesn’t like being asked to make a decision / put under pressure.

AR has to take some of the blame.

However CG was the senior pro and should have been brave.

The half hearted outside of the foot chip straight to the opposition was shocking.

Very self indulgent, very unprofessional and very weak.

He needs a boot up the erse.

It is becoming a habit, a very bad habit.

Dunky McKay’s son, also Duncan, was an honoured guest as his dad’s proxy at the commemoration of James Kelly, Celtic’s first captain, held at St Peter’s cemetery New Stevenston last season.

They both, as you intimated, live in Australia now and young Duncan joked that his dad had told him before his flight to remind Jim Craig that he had pinched his job.

My seat was used by a retired teacher first-timer, yesterday. Didn’t get into Emirates cafe (badminton), didn’t get into Kerrydale (full), didn’t see Celtic win (draw). Loved her day out at Celtic Park.

I think a good example of the old Sicilian saying or maybe Portuguese or maybe neither – when life throws lemons at you, catch them and make a gin’n’tonic.

Dallas 9.04pm apologies both bosses now in their bed so am allowed back on Cqn, our mutual Motherwell friend is probably one of the nicest guys I have met, but he does try to push “old firm” are just as bad as each other, simetimes it’s easier not banging your head against a brick wall, I also said given the choice he would dislike Celtic more :-)

KevJ… I loved wee superJoe in the the 1989 final I had a quid on him to score 1st goal 16/1 !!!!! When we got home my mates were skint so the £17 winnings were spent on 6 packets of pickled onion crisps and 3 bottles of Old England sherry….. the pickled onion crisps would make you drink even Old England sherry :-(

Wee Joe was a number 9 in the making

  13. 3 Tickets for Munich.

    What a Stadium Arcadium.

I said to the Bro that Munich was SOFAR away – he said Autobhan.

3 Tickets for the Carrolls would be good. I’ll be doing the driving, hopefully.

Delaney’s , to give credit where credit is due , the linesman at Maclean’s goal did make the right decision.

With regard to Wee Wullie yesterday . After the game yesterday even my son said to me , Collum appears to be one of these insignificant people in his deuveloping years who was insignificant or picked on and now getting his own back.

In the first half , Anderson had both arms around Leigh’s shoulders as clear as day, Wee Wullie had an unobstructed view of it but waved play on.

A few minutes before Wee Wullie booked McLean , Kieran was breaking forward , McLean attempted to click his heels. Again no foul nor did he speak to McLean about it when the all ext went out of play.

Someone I work with is a big Celtic supporter but wont have a bad word said about Willie as they got on well at school .

Your Knightswood connections will get to know our Fr. Benneth soon. He’s on his way to Corpus Christi after five years at St Joseph’s. A good man. We’ve been expecting it since the positive murmers overheard on the night of the Archbishop’s deanery mass in Faifley, last March.

The most anti Rangers bigot I have ever worked with, was a Motherwell die hard fan from Wishaw. He hated Airdrie and the huns more than I did. :)

  22. Really enjoyed the game yesterday. Poor first half when we were off the pace but thought we played really well 2nd half and could have won by a few if things had gone our way.

We effectively finished playing 3-6-1 and I hope we do this, or 3-5-2, more often this season.

*they had a relationship with them that went back tae the Herbert Chapman days when they were known as the “Bank of England” club, might have been that they were cut from the same trooser lifting cloth or possibly the fact that Chapman was a close friend of the Firth of Clyde boatman.

They played “friendly’s known as the Game of Champions. In the first year of the games there was a home and away format, the first match in Glasgow on September 20 1933 and the second at Highbury on September 27 one week later. After that it was once a year, alternating in venues, sometimes at the start of the season sometimes at the end.

This ended after a game at Highbury in August 1967 when the Gunners gubbed then 3-0. 1967 their annus horribilis which they have never recovered from.

  24. Ascencio hit the ball with his standing foot before striking the free kick, if you look very closely. 2-2.

Totally understand what you mean but living in the country where we live there are people who don’t like the idea of Celtic, they have been told all their life they are “better” their mindset keeps them in the dark ages, reading Andyr53’s post today at 12.01pm turned my stomach, the older I get the more patriotic I become, I want MissGFTB to be a proud wee Scot, fed up of the bigots terrorising just normal working class people, this is the only thing the bigots can hold onto, Police Scotland should hang their heads in shame, but most importantly I hope Andyr53’s nephew is ok, far mor important than the toy soldiers

Delaney’s , another Motherwell fan I work, absolutely detests anything to do with Ibrox , even the subway station.

I had never heard him swear until the day after Davie Cooper passed away. STV had done a tribute to Cooper the night his death was announced. As expected it concentrated on his Ibrox career.

The Motherwell fan was cursing and bemoaning STV basically ignoring the contribution Cooper made in his 3 years at Motherwell.

My colleague told me Cooper had played more consistently in his time at Fir Park than he had in his 12 years at Ibrox which was correct . He was beelin that all Cooper’s consistent inconsistency at Rangers (IL) was overlooked. It was only when Souness apeared did Cooper play consistently.

I have been told that Cooper and Nicholl ( of tango and sash infamy) were booted out of Ibrox when they compained about le petit merde signing for them.
