How do we sell the premier league in Scotland to prospective players if the fans of the biggest club think it’s a turkey shoot and constantly run down the winning of it??

Celtic signed Harry Hood from Clyde on the Monday. They were due to play Dundee away on the Wednesday night but this game was postponeded due to ice and snow in Dundee. Hood had been included in the party for that game. He was ineligible for this game having already played for Clyde in the Cup competition.
Four Celtic players were selected to play for the Scottish League against the English League at Hampden on the 26th March. They were Tommy Gemmell, Bobby Murdoch, Willie Wallace and John Hughes.
This was an unusual set of semi-finals as it was the first time that both games had been played simultaneously in Glasgow. Glasgow magistrates had asked the SFA to postpone one of the games or move it and the SFA had refused. This game went ahead at Hampden and the other semi between Rangers and Aberdeen was played at Celtic Park.
Celtic fielded an unchanged side from the previous game against Partick Thistle. Both Morton’s goalkeepers had been suffering from ‘flu but one of them would be ready for the game.
Celtic play in unusual change strip of all white with green trims.
Celtic qualify for their fourth Scottish Cup Final in five years since the arrival of Jock Stein where they will face Rangers in the final.
Game kicked off 13 minutes late due to congestion at turnstiles.
PFayr-heard a major change in Johansen, not in a good way, I would punt him and play Armstrong in his position.

Well PF, I certainly would prefer to win The Turkey Shoot then come second. The Turkey Shoot as you call it is our bread & butter, unless and until we move home it is our only staple diet. The highlight of mine and most Celts year is our European adventures. All true Celtic Supporters were gutted by the Malmo debacle but such is life. We do have the consolation of the Europa, which I am eagerly looking forward to. I don’t think we have any realistic chance of winning it but I hope to enjoy good performances and hopefully see the team to at least progress to the knock out stages.

Well everything is a punt, and there are no guarantees in the transfer market no matter how much the player costs, it’s a gamble and every club is in the same boat whether it’s £100,00 or £50 million you can only hope it works out for the best for the player fans and the club, many times it doesent but I wouldn’t use it as a stick to have a go at the board like the few in here do, ffs if a Celtic supporter got caught having a slash in a close after a game some in here would blame the board or PL, As I said it the broken record and the same agenda and opinion every far kin hour of the day, to me most of these are just plain………well let’s put it this way, those opinions are like nappies/diapers they should be changed regularly both of them, and for the same purpose.
I get that it’s a gamble but spending £2m on a defender is gonna get you a better player than the type of striker you’d get for £2m, most often than not.

So much tripe on here after our CL exit.
We were in a winning position at 2-0
We were in a winning position at 3-1
The players ON THE PITCH contrived to devalue that position – it was their fault.
We take the field in Malmo in a 3-2 winning position
The players did not put in an adequate performance, in what was financially, the biggest game in our 127 year history (£20 to £25 million) – it was the players fault.
The squad is frail, naive and fragile – at a cost of of £30 million per year.
The problem is not the amount of money available to build a squad – the problem is that we are not getting enough ‘bang for our buck’
Peter Lawwell and the board provide this money EVERY year – it is the football department who spend it.
For a club in Scotland to be spending around FIFTEEN times what they get from TV money on their squad is remarkable – e.g. Everton/Southampton and others of that ilk, spend £60 million on wages – BUT – they get £60 million from TV money.
Board-bashers and Peter-haters on here, need to grow-up and wise-up.

Your in the City centre in five minutes. Dont pay before getting on as you can get a free ride if it goes to platform 10 as there are no gates there.
So higher paid mercenaries than the ones we already have.
Makes sense I guess but doesn’t seem to be Ronny’s idea or why he was brought in and again why would we play guys more money to win a turkey shoot we are already winning?
We can’t guarantee anyone CL football, there is no guaranteed CL football for any team that has to come through the qualifiers. It’s like doubling up your bet off the back of the last loser.

Whilst i acknowledge the right to express their views i thought yesterday’s banner was out of order. They get special and specific applause at the end of any match, does it make them better or more knowledgeable supporters than others? Nope. Have they done the bidding of the SMSM yesterday? Yes, in my own personal but equal opinion. Are they too young to remember Neuchatel Xamax, now there was a gutless European performance. The reality of our finances and where we were in terms of season when playing Malmo were highlighted in midweek, in my most humble of opinions. Back the team, sack the boatd would have been a better expression, hey but at least we’re no deid and pretending to be still existing in an ethereal sort of existence. I love the hoops and am critical of certain players during a game, yet would never expressthat loudly or publically at a game, perhaps in conversation, yes but never publicly at a game where i am there to “support” my team. The joy of football is very much the hours of debate before and after the game for me. 20 milliom Markovic goes to Fenerbache on loan and Fulham reject 10 million ill say that again £10000000 bid for Ross McCormack from Sheffield Wed. Football has gone mad. Unbelievable
the long wait is over on
What Malmo exposed was that too many of our players don’t have the mental toughness to see
a winning position out.
It happened , critically, for the last few minutes at Parkhead and for almost 90 in Sweden.
Can that toughness be trained into players? If not and it only comes in a player’s DNA or with experience then we have the wrong players or type of player.
If it can be trained into players and isn’t being then we may have the wrong football management team or , if they’re not being backed , the wrong CEO or board.
In truth , I don’t know where the answer lies in all of that. Possibly in a combination of all three.
While I don’t expect to qualify for the CL every year the nature of our failure to do so in the last two years ( with three bites of the cherry) , especially this year from the position we were in (with a two goal lead for almost the whole of the home tie) indicates a fundamental weakness in our make up.
What’s worse it was obvious to Malmo after a couple of scouting trips and exploited ruthlessly by them.
The whole episode suggests that we have a soft underbelly that the people at the club who are charged with coming up with the answers have failed to identify or, worse still , address.
Overall , I’m generally in the happy clapper camp and acknowledge the inevitable hurdles our location put in our way but the nature of our failure to qualify for the CL , rather than the failure per se, makes me concerned the future more than any result I can think of in a long time.
