    there is plenty of players throughout Europe and beyond who are within our budget and good enough. Just seems we struggle to pick enough good ones and make signings that don’t seem to make sense.

    Bang on.Malmoe may be less expensively run than us,but every week they are involved in doe or die games.Look where they are in their league.This has been a problem for every Scottish team,cantering the SPL.

     

    Someone mentioned the Huns earlier when they had their”Galacticos”.To suddenly come up against better players,more battle hardened,is not easy,when you have been in second gear most weeks.

    Weird thing is some say we need CL players to sell our good players yet VVD has been pretty average in Europe since he joined us, yet we could be getting £11mill for him, not bad for shite :O)

    I keep hearing this,but if they were good enough to help us compete in Europe,they would be elsewhere by now.We could not afford them.We were knocked back by a West Mam striker during the week.

     

    Look at the teams who went out of the CL,same as us.Everyone is looking for that diamond that no one else has found.Our last great striker signing was Hooper.Now guys like Mc Cormack are over £10 million.

     

    These guys that people say are who we should be after would be the future Pukki’s,Baldes.Very ,very few diamond around I am afraid.

    On the football front, I didn’t think it was pretty to watch yesterday but after Malmö it was the points that mattered most.

     

     

    Janko and Izzy were easily our best performers and Gordon deserves mention for his incredible double save near the end.

    The Celtic supporters have sung many many songs without the North East end of the stadium starting it , many many times, and that includes the time that the North East part of the stadium withdrew there support, and went in the huff, they are not the end all and be all as supporters, in fact they are far from it, they’re Ultras not supporters, I’m not an ultra does that mean I’m not a Celtic supporter, the next time they walk away, they should stay away. In my opinion that is. And I don’t need a banner for that, I’ve made my feelings known often enough to them, and that’s my last on the subject, it’s already getting to much oxygen to suit its agenda.

    i have never booed Celtic…why would you..if the team are playing badly the last thiung to help them is booing..especially at half time! I do shout FFFS for errors..not in execution but choice of pass etc.. and not shooting! Also like when Anton Rogan was playing why shout at someone whis giving 100% for the team but isn’t good enough..shout at the manager for picking him or the directors for not buying someone better… for Anton see Izzy

    Anyway much of your defence of the indefensible is always based on half truths and assumptions.

     

     

    The best one is that the world is stacked against us and it’s all too hard. This of course ignores the fact that our budget is way bigger than the likes of Malmö. The reason we are underperforming is that we have no intent on team building just on selling our best players and making money. So we never build anything and we basically have a collection of projects.

    I’m bored here so decided to watch The Govan Gallactios ,game is pretty even and scoreless after 15 mins for the one poster who might be interested. However the strange thing that I thought might interest some is that so far the Ref appears to be reffing game in a fair even handed manner. You never know it might catch on or else he is lulling me into a false sense of security when he eventually awards the requisite penalty.

    A lurking friend of mine (Mineshafter) phoned me this morning with a very valid point .

     

     

    On hearing the news that Sheff Wed had lodged an 8m bid for a player the usual cries of “What chance have we got if a championship club can afford to bid that sort of money ?”

     

     

    This argument has no real substance…..

     

    As recently as 2013 Celtic made more in profit than Sheff Weds actual turnover .

     

    I am not advocating Celtic committing finicial suicide merely pointing out that we can afford to compete with sides from the English Championship.

     

     

    Don’t shoot the messenger !!

    I replied to your assertion that I was criting the policy of signing rookies.

     

    I didn’t, what I said was that having rookies as our CB’s didn’t fill me with confidence, a big difference.

     

    And I will repeat, I am all for our signing policy, I just think it could and should be more felxible.

     

    I will repeat again, we wouldn’t sign Lubo today, this needs to change imo.

    That makes no sense, Wednesday are gambling because they have the chance of the Sky money we don’t. Even then it’s highly likely that Weds will end up bankrupt (as so many other teams chasing the “dream”).

     

     

    No team in the English Champ make a profit they don’t need to they just want a piece of the pie.

    I’m all for our strategy of signing them young and moulding them into stars,but it doesn’t hurt to sign an older experienced player now and then e.g Stanton,Lubo,,,wee Tosh Mckinlay as well done us a good turn,I’m sure there are more examples.
