CZECH international centre-back Tomas Kalas, a reported £5million target for Celtic, is wanted by Championship outfit Bristol City.

The 25-year-old defender is currently on loan at the Ashton Gate oufit, but is due to return to parent club Chelsea in the summer.

Interim Hoops boss Neil Lennon has revealed he is putting together a shortlist of players who could be of interest although his own future at the champions is undecided.

Kalas, who has made 19 appearances for his country, has attracted a host of admirers with his performances for Lee Johnson’s side in this campaign.

Now the former Hearts and Kilmarnock midfielder is eager to make his stay at City permanent and he will have a multi-million pound transfer war chest if the club win promotion to the Premier League in the new term.

Currently, they sit a point outside the play-off positions with a game in hand.

Kalas was signed by the Stamford Bridge men as a teenager and has been loaned out seven clubs during his time at the London club.

The Parkhead side acknowledge they will have to strengthen their defence for the next campaign with centre-backs Dedryck Boyata likely to quit at the end of his contract while Filip Benkovic is due to return to parent club Leicester City when his temporary transfer expires in June.

Mikael Lustig, Emilio Izaguirre and Cristian Gamboa are also coming to the end of their deals and could be heading for the exit.
