CELTS HIT BY EURO FINE

CELTIC have been fined £6,300 by UEFA for an incident relating to the 2-2 Europa League Group H draw against Lille in France last month.

The champions have been charged by the European soccer bosses for “improper conduct of the team” after five players were booked by over-fussy Macedonian referee Aleksander Stavrev.

Goalkeeper Scott Bain, two-goal hitman Mohamed Elyounoussi, defender Diego Laxalt, midfielder Oliver Ntcham and forward Albian Ajeti were yellow-carded in what was hardly a roughhouse encounter.

Neil Lennon’s side led 2-0 at half-time against the Ligue 1 side following a double salvo from Norwegian international Elyounoussi, but Mehmet Celik and Nanitamo Ikone managed to rescue a point for the home side. The Hoops are still waiting for their first win in the section after kicking off with a 3-1 loss against AC Milan at Parkhead and they also crashed at home in an embarrassing 4-1 loss to Sparta Prague.
