Match 31 in Celtic’s domestic season: Motherwell at home, 29 wins, one draw and no defeats behind them. It all looks straightforward tomorrow. Right?
A reminder, if needed, that while Motherwell shipped seven goals during the week, St Mirren did the same to Gordon Strachan’s Celtic before knocking us out the Scottish Cup a week later.
It was also Motherwell, at Celtic Park, who ended Scottish football’s longest winning run of league games in 2004. Celtic had just beaten Barcelona but were held by Motherwell to halt the run at 26 consecutive victories.
Runs like this often end against teams with nothing in their locker but desperate defending. You’ll see that from the visitors tomorrow, whose players will surely have had a word with each other about collective responsibility.
Take nothing for granted. Celtic have worked hard to get into this situation in the league but they will have to work just as hard to maintain momentum.
How does Brendan do that? I suspect by shuffling the pack again. We have genuine competition across the team. The central defenders must be scared to sneeze in front of the manager in case he drops them and they don’t get another sight of the pitch for weeks.
Full backs feeling a little weary late in the game? Don’t show it, Emilio and Cristian are ready and waiting. James Forrest and Patrick Roberts are both delivering at the highest standard of their careers, otherwise they would not be considered.
While Leigh Griffiths is injured, Moussa Dembele will be confident he will get the opportunity to score three consecutive hat-tricks, surely an unprecedented achievement. It’s only Scott Brown and Scott Sinclair who can be confident of being included when fit.
The former, because he is captain and leader of the team, the latter because he has had the most profound impact on Scottish football this season, unequivocally Player of the Year.
You are looking forward to seeing these guys do their stuff tomorrow, I can tell.

I hope you see a performance worthy of your journey!
Six-pointer at Swindon today,a draw will suit neither team. Might suit yours though…

Right time for the bus, hope the M8 isn’t a car park this week so I can have a pint in McCoys :0)
Art Of War – Thanks for helping out re St Stivs’ question which I’ve just ssen.
Fancy taking over from me? ;-)
Cowiebhoy,
Congratulations to Laura and Stephen!
Re the £32.8m rumour. If they owe a tenth of that their strategy would still not make any sense (imo).
One possible solution is perhaps for all of the loyal supporters to re-mortgage their homes and loan the capital to Glibby. If he and his cohorts are so trustworthy there’s surely very little risk involved.
Pay off the debt and sign the megastars that are dying to sign.
That’ll pay a handsome dividend and put ‘Rangers’ back where they belong.

I listen to my music almost exclusively on vinyl. Can’t be beaten IMHO.
A few years ago it was a struggle to get new music on vinyl, but fortunately all the stuff I listen to comes on vinyl.
Do yourself a favour and get a new system and go back to vinyl. It’s magic.
Only drawback is that you still need to clean the fluff from the needle!

Cowiebhoy –

cheers Jobo &art.
Spent the last few hours clearing an attic. Found real treasures in books, notes & photos dating back 70/80 years, Haven’t really examined my trove in detail yet but what I did find looking as new as the date it was bought, resplendent in red top and striped pants was a large gollywog.
If I get raided by the polis tonight, I’ll be more fearty that they will find my new friend rather than the guns.
Corkcelt – has gollywog broke the blog? :-)
Think he has Art. Maybe I should put him back where I found him.
Corkcelt lol!
It’s weird thinking it now, but they were very popular ‘pon a time.
MIT: I agree that the Board is only one aspect of Celtic. Certainly when my bonds with the team were formed it was all about Bobby Lennox and Billy McNeil; the team. I knew nothing of anything beyond the players and the park and the walk along Crownpoint road on match days. However, I believe the board see themselves all encompassing.
I agree the discussion has been idle rather then informed (I was hoping you would miss that part) (smiley:) but it certainly hasn’t lacked abundance!
In effect what Dermot Desmond says is what goes, correct? As majority share holder he gets his way. Surprisingly I’m OK with that. I think he has Celtics best interests at heart. What he thinks Celtics best interests are is where the discussion should take place I think. And although that may benefit him financially, I think that is a byproduct of his endeavors to do what is best for Celtic. Me, being naive? You bet, it’s worked for me so far :)

ps Although I read lots I’m not as ‘well’ read as I would like. Therefore I didn’t understand the Dulles reference, The Cardinal who converted to Catholicism perhaps?

Can I ask all of you to send your condolences to “Locky” Lauchlan Mclellan, a firefighter who served Glasgow and Scotland well, working for 29 years throughout the city at a number of stations and later in the training centre and across Scotland. A true gentlemen, colleague and a dear friend. He sadly passed away last night 7 months before he was due to retire. He sat in the main stand with his son at every home game and I would always look him out for a Wee chat. He will be sorely missed. I would love if we could have a minutes applause at 54 minutes at tomorrow’s game to mark our respects to a humble man who served his city so well. Rip Locky, you will never walk alone.
I’ve also been in touch with Ross, his son and both he and his sister will be at the game tomorrow so if we can all stand up on the 54th minute and give a minutes applause, we would all be so grateful.
32.8 million in the hole, nae both tae us warrapeepul…

I would be very happy if Sevco were over £30m in debt but I don’t think anyone would have lent them that kind of money..
If anyone knows Emerald Bee could they ask him to call in at the CQN corner again before the game.
The e-mail address I used to send pics to him has not been recognised.
I sent the same pics to calleyroadbhoy- awaiting confirmation that they got through
A Stellar Manager for Rangers
Afternoon
Vinyl. Just about the biggest regret of my life was allowing myself to be persuaded to give away most of my vinyl about15 ywars ago. I no longer had a turntable which worked and ‘we don’t have room for a new one’. So aside from a few lps I had bought in my teens – and my 45s which I gave to Pablophanques brother for safe keeping- to the charity shop they went. The dame did not even last much longer either. I now have a turntable and now only buy vinyl
Just about to head off to CP. As I saw a picture of RH Davidson today I know we are doomed.

I never heard anything about what you have written about the devlopments to the West of Reekie, so Murray Estates will not be quids in , good, I still want him hit with the Tax and NIC bill for his personal EBT’s.
The golf course as you say is not and never will be an upmarket course or location, I just do not like to see this guy getting any success, he is as you say good at spending other peoples money.
