Some of the reaction to Peter Lawwell’s promotion to the top table of the bowling club yesterday was thoroughly entertaining, including some from our own side. As a rule, I’m happy to germinate nonsense which distracts potential opponents from applying logical analysis to their world, so now THE EVIDENCE is all there!!
The SFA badly need higher calibre board members and, despite some generous assessments (from all sides), Celtic’s influence over the Association has been akin to pushing water up a marble staircase. The only genuine solutions to Scottish football’s problems will be to the benefit of all clubs, not just the main income generator. This is the challenge Peter Lawwell should set himself. By delivering well-funded, competitive football for all, he will best look after the interests of Celtic. Big changes all round are required.
I was accustomed today by a suggestion that Celtic were about to announce debts of over £30m after investing in some underperforming bonds! Fortunately the story teller is listening to the wrong people and this is complete fantasy. At least this nonsense keeps people from reading the accounts and asking by our board blow so much cash on amortisation each year instead of buying players.

The irony of the objections of the Permaragers appointment of PL to the SFA board is that the very thing they perceive as objectionable (ie that Peter Lawwell will , in their view, use the SFA to promote the interests of one club to the detriment of all the others and one in particular) is , of course, precisely what has kept them in a position of false “pre-eminence” for decades upon decades.
They do see the irony of that , don’t they..?
As a recent Peter Lawell critic, well done Pete on reaching the board of the SFA.
I have no doubts that Pete will put better procedures in place, that the there will eb better balance within the SFA and hopefully some of the old hun dinosaurs will become extinct.

ernie lynch. You are correct and giving away part of the home advantage could prove very costly.However,strange as it seems to us supporters we have seen Celtic gamble on qualifying this season for the CL proper and it looks like we are prepared to do it again next season.H.H.
How much are we making from the Commonwealth? I dare say it won’t be enough compensation to take care of hiring a new ground, lost gate receipts as a result and the added gamble of disadvantaging ourselves in European qualifiers.

Someone on earlier said we should play the home leg of the CL qualifiers at Old Trafford.
This is an excellent idea.
It means if we got through and drew AC Milan again one of us can get a free shot at lamping their goalie as we have already taken the punishment.
Any rumours re signing free agents or is there a “window” for them as well?

My main concern has been about an uncorrected, unprofessional and unaccountable SFA being free to make decisions that have greatly undermined the integrity of our game with Celtic the first in the queue of clubs harmed – but not the only club.
Peter Lawell at least understands the issues and has had plenty of messages on what needs to be done, the following for example
