Charlie is back, did he ever go away?

673

So Charlie’s back.  Did he ever really go away? I suspect not.  Sevco Scotland/The Rangers FC/Rangers International is Charles Green’s project.  He was the guy who picked the pieces up from the Rangers liquidator.

He was the guy, through liberal use of words like ‘bigotry’, ‘No surrender’ and ‘Dallas Cowboys’ managed to convince thousands of people to buy into a version of reality which convinced them to spend money.

He cut a deal with the compliant Ally McCoist to shift tickets in 2012, then did the same with Walter Smith in 2013, and co-opted a variety of flunkies to the cause along the way.  The £22m raised at an IPO was down to him.  No one else would have been able to achieve the latter feat, and he is needed again.

The move only appears audacious to those who have not been paying attention.  When Green bought Rangers assets two years ago, the game was up.  Those assets would be bled green, white and gold in order to provide as large a return on investment as possible.  Nothing has changed.

What is needed at Ibrox right now is someone to pitch up saying, “Bigotry, No surrender, forget what I said earlier, it’s the same club, now buy your ticket, you tell them Ally/Walter/whoever next”.  Charlie is perfect for this job.

The reality that existed pre-2012 is gone.  That club’s assets were bought from a liquidator and are now masquerading around the lower leagues of Scottish football.  Those who stepped forward, paid their money, and in doing so, actually gave thousands of people a club to support, are in charge – as is their right.

This is not a good thing if you have an affinity with that club, but it’s better than having Ibrox “razed to the ground” (remember Bomber Brown’s warning), so no matter what fans think of Charles Green, it’s time to accept his reality: Rangers were liquidated, fans were not organised, wealthy fans declined to step forward, the assets were bought by people who WILL make a financial return and Charles Green is one of the few people with an idea of how to deliver this.

Iknow this might sound stupid but, Celtic are NEVER going to get any justice, sitting round a table with what, one catholic v’s what, fifteen masons?

The best way to deal with the huns was – to keep them in the league with sanctions.

20 points per season plus, having to pay back the ‘entire’ £140 million at say, £5 / £10 million per season?

Instead, it’s been made to look like a victory for the bampots but, in reallity, the huns could be back in the same league as us next season with the mibs getting them their CL money and, all the while….the victimised huns have walked away from paying / robbing £140million!!!

As a tax payer I would be well within my rights to tell my government that they could not stand back and allow football total free rein to do as it pleases with my tax money.

The SG stance so far has been not to interfere in football matters.

I think that will become unacceptable.

In England there are moves afoot to make football more accountable.

This is from last May but I think there is something more recent.

On a smaller scale Res12 is calling the SFA to account for their actions in the monitoring of the UEFA licence in 2011 and, regardless of the outcome of that, the SFA are being forced to provide answers to Celtic shareholders, something that I hope brings a realisation on all sides that they can be made accountable if the will exists.

Not attended away league games or SFA national team for many years now, as the SFA executive became openly blatantly corrupt and bias (President Peat jumping out his seat at ole Ragers scoring against Celtic) the decline of the game in Scotland is directly related to the embarrassment of the clubs in allowing fools and imbeciles to run the SFA, I decided if the election of a corrupt President and committee is what the clubs of Scottish football elect ? they must be happy with that ! I withdrew my money, seems reasonable to me

I would agree that if they’re being funded by taxpayer money then they should be answerable to government. Couple of issues – Firstly, I’m not sure how much funding they get from government. In my mind I seem to think it’s not a lot – worth looking in to. Secondly, as you point out, which politician is going to stick their neck out and make this a (more) political issue? I would be suprised if many of them were unhappy with what the SFA have done for Rangers – they’re batting on the same team.

Res 12 is a good thing and I sincerely hope it achieves it’s purpose. What I’m pretty sure of though is that it will not displace anyone in the SFA who has been guilty of corrupt practice.

    Calm yourself.

Rangers FC, as you knew them, are gone. What remains is a pauperised husk of the old club, and Scottish football is now a harsh environment in which badly run businesses are foundering.

Celtic are the richest Scottish club by a distance, and have a better than even chance of playing European football next season. Ibrox could just as easily be hosting a Hyperdale’s.

  14. Let’s work together to Keep Glasgow Moving. Travel Advice Icon

In July and August 2014, Glasgow will play host to a massive sporting and cultural celebration when more than 6,500 athletes and team officials arrive in the city for the XX Commonwealth Games.

Glasgow will begin to get very busy from early July, when the athletes, officials and the world’s media first arrive. The Queen’s Baton Relay will also return to the city after its trip around the Commonwealth.

Up to 1 million tickets are expected to be sold for competition events, with a substantial number of people watching at live sites and un-ticketed events.

It will be busier than usual

At certain times and locations, transport networks will be busy coping with the increased demand that hosting the Commonwealth Games will bring. There will be a range of changes made to local transport in the lead up to and during the Games including roads and public transport; however they will still be busier than usual.

You can get ready to help stage an amazing Games by planning ahead. All we ask is that you check to see if your regular journeys could be affected and then to try out temporary changes over the Games period. By making small changes in the way you travel such as making your journey at the right time, using public transport, cycling or walking you will help ensure we all have a great summer!

    Walking & Cycling

Glasgow is a compact city and walking or cycling is a great way to get around the city especially with public transport being busier than usual at games time. Many venues and Live Zones are within walking and cycling distance of Glasgow city centre.

This summer, Glasgow City Council, in partnership Nextbike GmbH, are introducing a cycle hire scheme to the streets of Glasgow. This new service will be available to both visitors to the City for the Games and the general public of Glasgow. During the Commonwealth Games 36 locations across the city will provide access to around 400 bikes for hire. The bikes are bookable online or by telephone.

Up to four bikes can be hired by one registered user at a time and the bikes can be picked up from and dropped off at any of the 36 locations. Further information including maps will be made available closer to the launch date.

The UK taxpayer is not confined to Scotland so it will not be an issue for Scotland alone to deal with.

Quite how the issue will be addressed, if at all in an independent Scotland, where it might be viewed as a legal means of subsidising the establishment club I set aside for the Independence debaters.

Then the idea that the SFA set up favours Rangers needs to be looked at in reality.

Look what that set up with no policing or willingness to deploy correction mechanisms (we call them rules) has brought them.

Even a deid in the wool hun MP could see the part a one sided SFA played in their downfall.

The attitude of other clubs has changed too. They see financial doping by a club who have no need to indulge in it robbing them of their lesser chance of success.

TRFC are much diminished in many respects including their commercial power over other clubs, so if ever there was a time to change the governance culture of football in Scotland it is now.

    ——————————————————————–

We may be talking at cross-purpose. I’m referring to the SFA and the money they get from the taxpayer making them accountable (or otherwise) to the UK taxpayer. I don’t think they receive that much funding from us and for that reason I do not think they will be held to account by anyone other than themselves. It was Rangers (and not the SFA) who stole from HMRC. It is being dealt with by the UTT. Whatever the UTT outcome, I do not believe the SFA will admit to having been guilty of anything – they were given information from the offending club and acted on it in good faith (they will claim). The structures and people will remain in place. I hope I am wrong.

Yes – the time they are a’ changin’ and surely there’s never been a better time to address the governance issues in Scottish football? What the fans would like is to see the SFA scrapped and a new and clean organisation put in it’s place. We do not need a UTT decision for this – it should be happening right now as the SFA have already proven themselves incompetent. But it’s not happening and I just don’t believe it will. Sorry to sound so cynical!
