Charlie is back, did he ever go away?

673

So Charlie’s back.  Did he ever really go away? I suspect not.  Sevco Scotland/The Rangers FC/Rangers International is Charles Green’s project.  He was the guy who picked the pieces up from the Rangers liquidator.

He was the guy, through liberal use of words like ‘bigotry’, ‘No surrender’ and ‘Dallas Cowboys’ managed to convince thousands of people to buy into a version of reality which convinced them to spend money.

He cut a deal with the compliant Ally McCoist to shift tickets in 2012, then did the same with Walter Smith in 2013, and co-opted a variety of flunkies to the cause along the way.  The £22m raised at an IPO was down to him.  No one else would have been able to achieve the latter feat, and he is needed again.

The move only appears audacious to those who have not been paying attention.  When Green bought Rangers assets two years ago, the game was up.  Those assets would be bled green, white and gold in order to provide as large a return on investment as possible.  Nothing has changed.

What is needed at Ibrox right now is someone to pitch up saying, “Bigotry, No surrender, forget what I said earlier, it’s the same club, now buy your ticket, you tell them Ally/Walter/whoever next”.  Charlie is perfect for this job.

The reality that existed pre-2012 is gone.  That club’s assets were bought from a liquidator and are now masquerading around the lower leagues of Scottish football.  Those who stepped forward, paid their money, and in doing so, actually gave thousands of people a club to support, are in charge – as is their right.

This is not a good thing if you have an affinity with that club, but it’s better than having Ibrox “razed to the ground” (remember Bomber Brown’s warning), so no matter what fans think of Charles Green, it’s time to accept his reality: Rangers were liquidated, fans were not organised, wealthy fans declined to step forward, the assets were bought by people who WILL make a financial return and Charles Green is one of the few people with an idea of how to deliver this.

Is it NL deliberately slagging ex celts or is the BBC dragging him into it, laughing at the scottish league while bigging up the EPL? The fawning over Drogba the other night was amazing.

  8. Re Lennon.

Some people are such drama queens. He made a joke about Efe’s crossing pre game, and with precious little to talk about, the BBC highlighted this with a few poor moments from his game. Lennon signed Ambrose, made him a mainstay in the team and has been glowing in his praise of him this week alone.

I never heard his Samara’s comments, but seeing as he stuck by him through some horrendous domestic performances, as well as dreadful showings in Europe this year(he was far from the only one), I doubt Sammy would be too bothered.

Roy Keane has been widely praised for his pundit work, and he has been scathing in his criticisms of Man United. Lennon went through dreadful times at Celtic, with his life and that of his families being in constant danger, so if being honest in his current employment causes him to have some minor criticisms of Celtic, or some of his ex players then so be it.

It’s just a game of football. Dry your eyes and get over it.

Can anyone confirm that in the 1958 World Cup the SFA reduced Scotland’s squad by 6 to just 17 players to make way for SFA officials wives and families who fancied a freebie ?

  12. How anyone can have a pop at NFL beggars belief. I can’t think of any other Celtic player or manager who has put up with so much provocation and never been cowed.

Let the Bhoy relax and enjoy the World cup with no pressure, god knows he deserves it. .
