Chasing Celtic will bankrupt the Tribute Act

612

The man who wants to be chairman of Rangers International, Dave King, said over the weekend:

“In particular I see a present need to utilise the time we have over the next few seasons to be prepared, both financially and on the pitch, to compete with our Glasgow neighbours when we get back (sic) to the top League.”

Therein lies the problem.  Oldco Rangers under David Murray were driven, “10-in-a-row and two European Cups” was the target Terry Butcher attributed to his former employer.  They lived in someone else’s shadow but needed to think of themselves as superior.  As a consequence, they lost everything.

Now the same crew at it again.  “Compete with our Glasgow neighbours”.  Why not just live within your means?  Be as good as you can be, run your affairs in an ethical manner, whether you win, lose or draw?  Spend the early years of Newco trying to compete with Celtic and the only thing you’ll achieve is a pervading sense of failure.

The Battle for the Blazer, AKA the bid by King to persuade the SFA that despite the enormous evidence to the contrary, he is Fit and Proper to be a director of a Scottish football team is surely pointless.  Rangers International don’t need King as a director, all they need is his money, or anyone’s money.  King doesn’t need to be a director to exact effective control over the club, all he needs to do is appoint proxies. The SFA must issue the JP McEnroe retort, “You cannot be serious?”

My apologies if King’s target is Partick Thistle.

Am not to worried about the Huns coming into the league for one I don’t think they will last another year never mind two and IF they do some how make it the way Celtic are doing there business we will be so far ahead it won’t matter, to many supporters worry for no reason the Huns are dead the tribute act will die trying to catch us. 10 in a row is certainty HH

    Burghbhoy,

When I heard Tony was going on loan it really deflated me.I know this lad has the tools to go all the way.Despite what people say about his fitness and training I have a feeling there’s a personal issue with him and Neil Lennon.Agree totally about the three players running out of contract.

I don’t doubt they could beat us in the odd game now and again, but to think they could match us over a season is stretching things. Look at the number of points they dropped before they went into admin with players like McGregor, Jelavic and Davis.

I also think the other clubs will be stronger by the time they get up.

Whilst I agree with your “dont underestimate a zombie” thread

IF they get into CL as league winners as I have stated before they will have a

co-efficient similar to Murderwell or St johnstone and will be in right hand side of the draw . Ask Sally(got band from FF for using that) what a bitch those qualifiers can be

    even when seeded.

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

They only need to win one league and come through the CL qualifiers as heavily favoured seeds ,and the table will have turned.

Probably said already (haven’t read back) but I find it highly amusing that the apogee of their ambition is simply to compete with Celtic – in a few years time.

Of course, “gettin’ back at the taigs” is exactly the kind of remark that’s designed to get the morons onside and part with their cash. “This time it will be different…”, etc…

Due to Ally’s massive overspending, they would probably beat most SPL teams THIS SEASON.

That is one thing they are banking on: if they draw us in the Scottish Cup they want to be able to at least give us a game.

It’s something I don’t want to see, when you think of the pre-match media frenzy and the undoubted ref influence on the actual game.

If/When they worm their way up to the SPL they will DOUBLE their spending to make sure they are in with a chance of winning it.

Imagine their profound disappointment if we were in pastures new when they eventually get in.

They would have no raison d’être….

This is self evident from the Tom English article:

Walter Smith said: “People come out and say ‘Ah, it’s not necessary for them to have those players in that division’. But it’s not just the division that matters at Rangers, it’s the fact that you have 45,000 people coming to watch something on a football pitch…They are still losing money. But when you make a decision to be involved at Rangers, there is no common sense to it. The financial bit of Rangers Football Club and common sense don’t often go together.”

We, Celtic, have to be prepared, they will come after us because from their corrupt boardroom to their sectarian bearmacht horde they hate. Hate binds them. They will be more bitter and dangerous than before. They are one and the same in their hatred for us…this is their strength and weakness .

  27. Soukous @ 15:42,

“His colourful history includes a police prosecution for sectarian offences at Celtic This is from a piece in The Independent.

I would like to post a comment on this though not sure of all the facts, can anyone help.”

First and foremost I’d like to say that was a tardy bit of journalism by the Independent, dredging out some of the very dubious “reporting” about Artur when he was in Scotland.

He was hounded by the Scottish press, second only in recent times by Neil Lennon.

    He successfully sued them.

Now to your point as you may expect, the events at Ibrox that day was heatedly debated on CQN, in fact I remember a poster (whose nom-de-blog I cant remember) who was a well versed Scottish Lawyer entering the debate.

This was my take on it…

The Police took Artur to task for blessing himself at the start of the second half at Ibrox, this has caused apoplexy amoungst the Rangers fans.

There was a huge embarressment for Scotland when it was Globally reported that a Footballer had been charged for blessing himself, not uncommon in Football pitches up to and including World Cups and many other Sporting events for that matter.

After the outcry the PF and Police said he hadn’t been done for blessing himself but for gasticulating that annoyed the Rangers supporters, there by causing a breach of the peace.

They pulled back from prosecuting him and gave him a Fiscal’s Caution.

Now here is where I’m not sure where this lies, being from England we don’t have them…

As I mentioned earlier there was. Lawyer who I had a tete-a-tete with.

Now he informed me that a PF Caution was a letter sent to you basically finding you guilty of the crime but stopping short of prosecution, you have no recourse or right to appeal such a decision.

    I was appaulled.

In England if you have a caution you have the right to refuse it, if the Police persist they can take it to Magistrates Court, you can then ask for the Case to be heard at Crown Court i.e. In front of a jury of your peers.

As I said I was aghast that Artur could be done without any recourse to the Law but that’s apparently how it done in Scotland.

    Hail Hail
