Chasing Celtic will bankrupt the Tribute Act

612

The man who wants to be chairman of Rangers International, Dave King, said over the weekend:

“In particular I see a present need to utilise the time we have over the next few seasons to be prepared, both financially and on the pitch, to compete with our Glasgow neighbours when we get back (sic) to the top League.”

Therein lies the problem.  Oldco Rangers under David Murray were driven, “10-in-a-row and two European Cups” was the target Terry Butcher attributed to his former employer.  They lived in someone else’s shadow but needed to think of themselves as superior.  As a consequence, they lost everything.

Now the same crew at it again.  “Compete with our Glasgow neighbours”.  Why not just live within your means?  Be as good as you can be, run your affairs in an ethical manner, whether you win, lose or draw?  Spend the early years of Newco trying to compete with Celtic and the only thing you’ll achieve is a pervading sense of failure.

The Battle for the Blazer, AKA the bid by King to persuade the SFA that despite the enormous evidence to the contrary, he is Fit and Proper to be a director of a Scottish football team is surely pointless.  Rangers International don’t need King as a director, all they need is his money, or anyone’s money.  King doesn’t need to be a director to exact effective control over the club, all he needs to do is appoint proxies. The SFA must issue the JP McEnroe retort, “You cannot be serious?”

My apologies if King’s target is Partick Thistle.

  2. Off to my scratcher as well ( love that expression scratcher reminds me of my dad who said it a lot)

I have been up since 3.30am l just can’t get a settled sleep since l can only sleep on my backsince my op two months ago. Going back to hospital tomorrow so hopefully will get some answers.

  3. Celticbhoy, my company was banking with the Royal Bank of Scotland when the financial sword of Damocles was hanging over us and attended a dinner for all corporate clients in the hotel that was the old North British on Princes Street.

Huge room full of tables each holding 6 business owners and 6 bank staff.

What struck me was the air of hilarity when I entered. It was as if most of the people attending had been given a whiff of laughing gas and a bottle of champagne.

It soon became clear from listening to my table and the surrounding ones, and visits to the toilet, bar, etc. that one topic was causing the mirth. The Bank of Scotland’s imminent closure of our beloved club!

My blood boiled and any revisionist who tries to spin the line that there was equal concern for us as there was for Rangers is talking rot. Check it out in the papers there was a smug satisfaction that poor old Timmy wasn’t really up to running a business.

We showed them different without the help of concerned political leaders, press, or PR gurus.

My wife always goes on about her dads expression of scratcher. She said he used to say he was going to get ‘ his doings on and aff tae his scratcher’ she from Baillieston but I had never heard of the expression :))

Hope further treatment helps your sleep in your ‘scratcher’ :)

  6. glendalys.

Annecdote I know, – but my brother led a petition *signed by thousands but sadly falling on deaf ears* – for Celtic to refuse to replay Rapid Vienna (back in the day)

We all know what happened there, instead they chose to play the game in the biggest stadium, available hundreds of miles away, and made a fortune out of the other club’s cheating.

Celtic at the very least should not allow Sevconia or any group of Sevco clubs into Celtic Park, ad infinatum however when the inevitable Iboakes tie arrives, we will have division, and subversion, calls for boycotts, and rebels armed with smoke bombs and a demand for tickets.

What a great experience you’ve had mate you know first hand how much we are hated and how much it hurts them to see us win and them being literally not in our league . Tell as many as you can that story.. we are not liked and not wanted.

    Win Celtic just win .

Well off to my bed again.

  8. Somebody earlier was asking if the UTT get to consider new evidence, and I can’t be certain but I don’t think they do. However in progressing this the guy considering the FTT said the 2 naysayers were a “per o’ bawbags” (I paraphrase).

    So I’m guite hopeful.

In times gone by you might have found yourself in the company of bedbugs! As you settled down for the night out they’d come, looking for BLOOD! After sucking you dry they would depart and around this time you get a reaction to their bite and start scratching..

Cheers for the reply, I was getting the boys to bed at the time, and couldn’t remember which page we were at and I’m too lazy to scroll back.

I’m don’t really have time to look for the official decision on passing it through to UTT right now, but my recollection is that it was very scathing.

They, those that support a deid team, think we are inferior to them. Big Nan experienced this first hand.

We all have at one time or another in our life seen this behaviour first hand.

I’m glad they are so deluded as it allows us to continually get the better of them on so many fronts.

It’s no surprise that we are making great inroads into many parts of the establishment.

While they under estimate us we shall further our own aims to their detriment.

Let them appeal to the knuckle draggers while we appeal to those with vision and intellect that will set us apart from them for generations.

Never have I read a truer banner than the one displayed by the GB “Your Grandchildren will be Celtic supporters”
