The man who wants to be chairman of Rangers International, Dave King, said over the weekend:
“In particular I see a present need to utilise the time we have over the next few seasons to be prepared, both financially and on the pitch, to compete with our Glasgow neighbours when we get back (sic) to the top League.”
Therein lies the problem. Oldco Rangers under David Murray were driven, “10-in-a-row and two European Cups” was the target Terry Butcher attributed to his former employer. They lived in someone else’s shadow but needed to think of themselves as superior. As a consequence, they lost everything.
Now the same crew at it again. “Compete with our Glasgow neighbours”. Why not just live within your means? Be as good as you can be, run your affairs in an ethical manner, whether you win, lose or draw? Spend the early years of Newco trying to compete with Celtic and the only thing you’ll achieve is a pervading sense of failure.
The Battle for the Blazer, AKA the bid by King to persuade the SFA that despite the enormous evidence to the contrary, he is Fit and Proper to be a director of a Scottish football team is surely pointless. Rangers International don’t need King as a director, all they need is his money, or anyone’s money. King doesn’t need to be a director to exact effective control over the club, all he needs to do is appoint proxies. The SFA must issue the JP McEnroe retort, “You cannot be serious?”
My apologies if King’s target is Partick Thistle.

PS…..never heard a cheep rom them after the legal letter :)
For all you hun agitators.
He will see you all off
The Express article highlights how the world works.
I’m looking forward to Canamalar standing up at the AGM to make the case for his/her resolution. That is when we will get a clear and unambiguious vocalisation of what the issue is. Until then there will be multiple interpretations such as we see in the Express article. We should ignore them. Only when Canamalar speaks can we be sure what we are being asked to vote for or against.
like many i have a healthy mistrust of strathclydes finest. i hav found the best way to deal with them is always be polite and courtieous. never swear or disrespect them (at least not to their face) :o)
Eddie thanks for that but WHO is this elusive Dean Herbert?

brilliant stuff as usual. I wish you were proposing.
Anyway reading your stuff makes my heid sore.
Would you consider a 101 tutorial on this over the next few weeks before the AGM? Break it up into manageable chunks. Bite size chunks. Provide full references to Regans/ SFA stuff. Detail the legislation and how they went against the rules.
I might be asking too much, but I get the sense that you have a real desire for justice.
You know a Yes vote, is not an S.N.P. vote. It is a Scottish self determination vote.
Auldheid
Took some reading, that did!

Of course it is, but logic and fact don’t always cut it here :-)
dd,
What’s the Labour Party’s stance on Scottish Independence?
Richie
We have the first chance in our life, to break the repugnant, murderous Union, and some fellow Tims want to maintain it. I don’t understand that?

I know where you are coming from but it is really difficult to make it understandable and short.
However I have a follow up to write on the LNS aspect covering the commissioning which is based on an item seen but received after the CM article was penned and that with CM might just light the blue touch paper.
Michael
Good shout.
Each bite sized chunk must contain the whole, sort of.
Too many words, too few ideas…

The Labour party are a unionist party.
dd,
Doesn’t affect me bud but was just curious,
Scotland to remain part of the Union 1/7,
To be independent 9/2.
Auldheid
I love you to bits.
But I have an attention span of a midge.
So…
It’s not you..
It’s me.

The 16&17 year olds could be game changers.
I will vote for Independence, but I don’t think the majority will.
So, since it’s sort of ok now, well maybe it will be in the future.
Maybe the right wing English will turn out to be nice people.
Maybe breaking away from Europe will lessen the threat of War.
Maybe David Cameron understands why people in my street want to “smash their heid aff the ground”
Maybe.

Heartbreaking doesn’t even cover it.
I see George Osborne and I get really angry.
Like, really?
There’s a few choice guys left behind to fight the badies.
And Oor George is in charge.
Naw.
Independence?
No fighting,no dying…just mark the yes box
with a simple x.
Such an opportunity gifted by the imperialists.
Lucky.
My advice?
Break their arm and run like fk away with it,as fast as you can…just in case they change their minds.

Don’t fret. Boris is in the wings.
God help and protect us.

The emotion is huge.
But we need to look at the long game.
So I think it will be more powers to the parliament, and take it from there.
i dont usually do politics on this blog. i appreciate the fears of independance i.e. the strengthening of the grip of freemasonary and the orange order and the real lack of quality politicians already in situ at holyrood.
also the prospect of more of the same austerity measures from westminster, whoever holds the balance of power is truly frightening. imo young miliband is completely unelactable and another dodgy dave (what is it about the name dave?) over the next 5 years at least, will hammer public services while giving tax breaks and free labour to his cohorts.
up until recently i have been undecided but i am beginning to err on the side of the independance movement.
whatever the result, imo will lead to a future where the “have nots” will be screwed at every turn and the oppertunities to do this will more frequent than at any time in me lifetime
Rascar – I cannot be certain my friend, but I think this is unprecedented.
The colonialists are offering to withdraw, without so much as a shot being fired at them in anger?
Perhaps this scenario happened before, maybe in the Southern Hemisphere?
Can’t be bothered with Google.
