Climax heads for decade-old rivalry

140

It’s favourites win the Scottish Cup semi-finals, the League and Cup climaxes will be a match-off between two clubs who have competed for a decade for Scotland’s top prizes.

I wish I could tell you I’m confident.  Our chances depend on a change of fortune and form. The biggest positive is that despite such an extended period of poor performances, we’re still in the hunt and have every chance of making this a memorable season.

  1. Big Jimmy a good start for you .I only had one winner it’s better than nothing keep well mate chat tomorrow

  2. So BR thinks the way to improve the present incumbents of the CH positions,is for them to play further up the park.Really?.Would this be the way you managed the Leicester defence, who were woeful for nearly a full season under you?Eventually leading to relegation?.Your CH pairings being slaughtered most weeks by most pundits. This is what we are getting at the moment.Livingston ripping us a new one.We have 2 CHs sitting in the stands, who the manager refuses to play, for reasons only he knows.Lagerbielke, voted the best CH in Sweden last season,is now rated inferior to a converted LOI left back, and a player who no manager has ever thought good enough.Nawrocki not treated any better.Thrown in now and then,in an emergency.

That’s the reason we have thrown umpteen points away, from crosses, lack of positional sense, basic mistakes.

I have said before,he had no idea how to fix it at Leicester, and he has no idea now.

That awkward moment when Chris McLaughlin explains Hibs’ ire …

… without mentioning by name the recent opponents whose fans behaviour prompted the outburst.

  4. Prestonpans bhoys on

Hibs fan group approach their club to emphasise that the huns had crossed an line with their behaviour particularly a player lying on the ground for 7 minutes.

And the cowards on their board produce this in their statement.

“Following fan behaviour and chanting from opposing teams this season, the Club’s Board of Directors will be reducing the away allocation at Easter Road moving forward, alongside taking further actions.”

    And Hibs fans said this:

“Members of the Hibs.net fan forum say that Rangers fans “crossed a line” with certain songs during the quarter-final match, which finished 2-0 to Gers.

In particular there has a been a negative response on social media to chants directed at Hibs ace Martin Boyle as he was stretchered off.

A post from one of the forum’s administrators read: “There seems to be a real strength of feeling among our fans that the singing and general behaviour from the Rangers support last night crossed a further line.

“The admin team have discussed this and feel we are in a position to coordinate a collective response that may carry a bit more weight with the club compared to individual emails.”

Other than opening the piece with a clip of hibs and Sevco going on to the pitch , there was no direct reference to the specifics of what prompted Hibs statement . Sportscene even managed to slip in a reference to the ‘old firm’. They did mention sectarianism for the first time ever though , which is odd considering the songbook the sevco fans belt out at every match .

I said on here a couple of years back that Stephen Welsh will never make it as a centre-back. That is not to say he will not put in a real effort. I have also said that I think he could make a half decent defensive midfielder, physical, pretty good in the air, and can pass the ball in a forward direction, which helps. Can also take the ball forward, but the one time he drove forward in the second half on Sunday lost his concentration, and the ball with it. But if you cannot defend as a unit, two attacking full backs are going to leave us open at the back, and did. Spurs two centre backs gave a masterclass against Villa and allowed them to pulverise the opposition’s defence. Got a bit o’ steel about them too, as a team. Our two newbies must have something about them, given that they do have a footballing backgound, which also helps. Brendan needs to find an alternative when CCV is out, and unless both are injured he has got to work more on getting them involved. His tactics agin Livvy defensive wise will simply not do, ok going forward but lose the ball, and well you can guess the rest. Still, for once the International break comes at the right time, beat the Saints on Saturday, and take it from there.

Also, every time a free-kick is awarded he always claims to have spotted it. He says — I was gonna say I spotted a hand ball / push / tug / kick.
