Coaching, Brendan’s open canvass

580

Apologies for recent radio silence.  Lots going on with some weighty matters which will soon be of interest to you, unfortunately didn’t have time to blog for a few days.

So much going on simultaneously but I can’t really focus on anything with the daunting evening ahead tomorrow. Season Two of the Brendan Rodgers era will be considerably influenced by the events in Trondheim. Rosenborg are a shadow of their former glory, but Celtic must patch a team together and win (or secure a score draw) in Norway to reach the Champions League group stage.

Most Celtic fans I speak to expect us to win the game, but we’re an optimistic lot (cough). Let’s hope that’s based on sound reason.

I was surprised to hear Shaun Maloney has been speaking to Brendan Rodgers about a youth coaching role at Celtic. Shaun was a rare graduate of the Celtic youth system under Martin O’Neill, breaking through as an 18-year-old in 2001. He will also know more about Lennoxtown than practically any player, as he gorged on gym time there during lengthy periods of injury, while others were resting.

Does he have what it takes to be a good youth coach? This is a difficult one to answer. Look east. Ian Cathro had an exemplary record as youth and assistant coach under some talented managers, assisting at Valencia and Newcastle. But Cathro’s success was down to the management structure he flourished under. On his own, at Hearts, he perished. Sacked four days before the league kicks off.

If Shaun joins the Celtic coaching setup he will begin a new tutelage under Brendan Rodgers. The manager may be looking for an intelligent, open, canvass, to work with.

Directors’ Box Hospitality for 4, this Saturday, 5 August

Those great people at Celtic sponsor, Intelligent Car Leasing, have offered us an incredible hospitality package for Flag Day at Celtic Park on Saturday, to raise funds for Mary’s Meals. You can win a seat for yourself and three friends at the Walfrid Lounge and in the Directors’ Box, with full hospitality.

This is an incredible prize worth many hundreds of pounds. You can win it by making a minimum £10 donation directly to Mary’s Meals here. To confirm your entry please email me celticquicknews@gmail.com your donation confirmation email from MyDonate.

Many thanks and good luck!

The Kano Foundation

The Kano Foundation are holding their annual bucket collection at outside Celtic Park before kick off on Saturday. This is a once-a-year event for TKF, who do tremendous work, brining young people into the Celtic family.

Auldhied, only just logged on after a working dinner, so not read back. Just a comment on a post alluding to some negativity. Never let them get you down. What you have done to forward FairPlay and transparency in Scottish football is admirable to say the least, the very least.

You have my support and admiration, and I’m sure that of many.

Keep it lit. We owe you and your ilk a debt.

  5. Clunks- i would ban them all, they sit in the best seats in the house and print sh!#@ on an hourly basis , who is being blackmailed at CP? Why do we bend over and take it ? No balls on that Board.HH Back of the bus? We are still washing it…

In the past five years that’s two comments come out of Celtic in one way or another. The first was at the 2013 AGM and Peter Lawwells crap Rory Bremner joke in the safety of the Kerrydale suite. A sickening event to witness first hand given the spineless approach since his quip.

I much preferred Leigh Griffiths six word impromptu and succinctly delivered, truthful and off the cuff rebuke directly in the face of the zombie.

Maybe we should give Leigh a place on the board as officer of Truth and Reconciliation.

Griff telling the hun how it is more cutting than Lawwells empty AGM platitude.

Off to have a look at the zombie forums and I hope the wee man has them frothing at the eye’s and battering their keyboard with their cloven hooves.

can we have celtic minded people on the board and employed by the plc.

    ……………………………

No, You’ll get what you’re given with the likes of Bankier, tory lords or their replacements.

I’d be happy with one board member with testicles, a voracious appetite for the truth, and an ability to stand up for the Celtic support. We are being pummelled on all sides and nobody in our leadership is prepared to say enough is enough.

    They make me sick.

  19. A Ceiler Gonof Rust on

I hope the Griff starts tomorrow and scores before, during and after the game.

I also hope he ties a Celtic scarf to a goalpost and gives pre and post match interviews where he elaborates on his “deid team” comment.

Get it out there ya wee Hibee.

Nice to see someone at our club has some sense of the supporter perspective.

  20. Just in.

I hear that the team were left to fend for themselves among drunken Sevconians at Glasgow Airport this afternoon?

Apparently Mr Hawthorn was busy in another part of the airport supervising the Rendition of the ’12 Apostles’ who were arrested on suspicion of having an offensive banner at Celtic Park to Guantanamo Bay?

I thought Health and Safety were paramount?

What about Advance Planning, Risk Assessment etc?

Oh well I suppose Mr Hawthorn has his orders to follow (follow)…

Surely Mr Hawthorn’s employment must be under review given this breach in security…in an airport?

No doubt the offender was arrested?

    TGM/SA,

Are you both still here? Maybe you should get a gig with Celtic Security given your commitment.

Has there been a statement from PL yet? Or has it been left for the Griff to sort them again?

They are a nasty bunch. I’m actually convinced all this envy and hatred does them more harm than us. Very unhealthy to be consumed by hatred.

    For any lurking huns;

I see PUL is catchphrase on banners and blogs!

PUL stands for Polyurethane Laminate. It can be pronouced either P-U-L or “pull”. Our PUL Fabric is waterproof, so it is ideal for the outside of cloth diapers and diaper covers;)

    Nytol,
