Concerning Irish history

1604

When Celtic make their trip to the ‘neat little town they call Belfast’ (I’ve been off radar recently, assume it’s still described thus) they will have no reason to believe they are ready for a game of football which could determine the success or failure of the coming season.  Instead the players will share a degree of anxiousness.

Cliftonville rank about as low as is possible to get in European competition but they will be better than the Arbroath team which left Glasgow with a draw last season against a Celtic team who were motoring at the time.

We have some concerning history against the Irish.  Celtic’s first ever Champions League qualifier was against St Patrick’s Athletic in 1998.  The visitors left Celtic Park with a 0-0 draw before Celtic won 0-2 in Ireland.  In the 1979-80 European Cup Dundalk gave us a fright.  Celtic won the first leg 3-2, at home, but had to endure a nervous second half in Dundalk as the home side searched, in vain as it turned out, for the goal which would allow them to win the tie on away goals.

Anything less than 100% on Wednesday will see Celtic walk a tightrope………

TSFM posters have been linking SDM, CW, CG, and a rather tasty bunch of financiers, speculators, spivs, crooks, chancers, footpads, losers, hsa-beens, reprobates, shilpits, hoomagandies, no-users, wasters and media PR people. Hence the attacks.

The attacks also mean they’re getting closer to the truth about Sevco5088, Sevco Scotland, TRIFC, TRFC, MIH, MH, Wavetower, Zeus, Allenby, Orlit, Liberty, the British Virgin Islands, The Cayman Islands, Ticketus, Duff & Phelps, Allenby, Collery Bristow and media PR people.

Thanks for that but I am in Scotland and was trying to get advice to Summa of Sammi. He will be delighted to get the confirmation that Celtic TV will show the game. Summa???

  4. craic sounds good in the Rock Bar, love hearing these stories. Are the uglies out on the streets again or what are they up to?

  5. Macjay would like hooper to stay but better he goes and we get cash if hes unhappy. Im sure he goes with best wishes, the marketing manager of celtic will be greetin when he does go.

I think we are at a crossroads in terms of signing , we accepted and will continue to accept good prospects but with the cash from last year we can reduce the risk by buying a couple of established players Luxcelt mentioned a few yesterday from Belgium and i like the look of Toure from Monaco with interesting article today online about him leaving and we are looking at him.

Here is another thing if we are going to play pre season friendlies i think if we are bringing in new players particularly strikers and they are games being played in front of fans then we should be playing lower league teams and allowing these guys to adjust to all things celtic. That way they get confidence, and score afew, confidence breeds confidence, took a while for Henrik to get up to speed. i feel sorry for Balde , Bangura & others who just find it hard to get a goal and im as guilty as the next man for writing them off. just saying…

To clarify the SFA were happy to accept what they were told after CW arrived in May 2011.

They were VERY unhappy in December 2011.

If what CF leaked had been reported mainstream heads would be rolling by now.

Fletcher I don`t really know too much about.

    Gary I know.

His departure would create a new and unwanted distraction at a time when focus is required.

  9. Tomorrow’s game was not Celtic’s to sell.

C’ville sold the rights to the BBC.

  10. Think we may have missed the boat on Belgium.

With them being one of the best countries in Europe at the moment their pkayers are well out of our range..

    Wee will be estonia etc

  11. Patrick27, i agree regarding Austin for less money but Doyle (he comes across well, grounded fellow) but stats are poor and he hasn’t been the same since his injury imo

  12. Ellboy - I am Neil Lennon, YNWA. on

If Hooper goes then we better get the cheque book out and buy a proven goal scorer.

While i think he’s easily replaceable, Hoops goals are/were invaluable. We can’t afford another Murphy or Bangura.

I have not reread 2008 rules but remember being surprised ehen I did that it contained unpaid tax rules but could not make a case because the FTT was under appeal that rules had been broken.

The wee tax case from stage left which did not become due to 20th May 2011 should have been an overdue payable by 30th June at latest but probably end of May and the only way a licence should have been granted was on condition a payment in part or whole with a payment plan agreed in writing by HMRC was in place.

There was nothing of the kind, hence SFA panic in December 2011 I refer to above.

Even if the plan isn’t big it would make sense to share the bare bones of it. Otherwise we speculate and criticise on the basis of very little..

The above assumes there is a plan of some sort..

Winning the SPL at a canter and getting pumped out of CL early wont stave off apathy IMO…

  23. jude2005- re: search engine.

If you’re using Internet Explorer or Firefox, just download Google Chrome and use that instead.

By default it gives you Google Search/Mail/Drive/Docs/YouTube etc… on home page and is easy to customise.

    Hope this helps.

  24. 'crushed nuts?' 'Naw, Layringitis!' on

Season starts tomorrow night, players have something to play for and supporters have something to watch. Can’t wait!! My prediction is Cliftonville (HT) Celtic (FT). Cliftonville are at home, this is their moment, Celtic will realise that this isn’t a friendly and the fitness, skill and finishing will out.

  25. Macjay1….

    I Agree With Cultsboy’s Earlier Post….

It Is Hooper Who Is Determined To Leave Celtic Immediately….

Rather Than Waiting For The January Window….

    Or Running Down His Contract….

No Sense In Having A Disinterested And De-Motivated Player Around Our Squad….

    Disrupting The Morale….

And Denying Our MegaWattie His Rightful Starting Place Every Saturday..

    WAKE UP LENNON….!

  26. CultsBhoy loves being 1st forever & ever on

Niall McGinn scored more than Hooper and I saw many of them last season. IMO he is a better fit for Celtic. Could be another Mulgrew scenario… I called that one right last time and feel even more certain in McGinn

  27. On the news earlier big sammy wasn’t impressed by the artificial pitch, am i right in saying that Moscow had one?

The new Supporter Liaison Officer is now in a position to look at weaknesses in the current arrangement.

It will be interesting to see how that develops but it will require a changing of default positions and attitudes on all sides for something workable to emerge but I’m hopeful that with a wider understanding of those issues progress can be made.

  29. Auldheid.i asked my dad to contact him and get hom along to the club this Friday but no joy so far.
