Concerning Irish history

1604

When Celtic make their trip to the ‘neat little town they call Belfast’ (I’ve been off radar recently, assume it’s still described thus) they will have no reason to believe they are ready for a game of football which could determine the success or failure of the coming season.  Instead the players will share a degree of anxiousness.

Cliftonville rank about as low as is possible to get in European competition but they will be better than the Arbroath team which left Glasgow with a draw last season against a Celtic team who were motoring at the time.

We have some concerning history against the Irish.  Celtic’s first ever Champions League qualifier was against St Patrick’s Athletic in 1998.  The visitors left Celtic Park with a 0-0 draw before Celtic won 0-2 in Ireland.  In the 1979-80 European Cup Dundalk gave us a fright.  Celtic won the first leg 3-2, at home, but had to endure a nervous second half in Dundalk as the home side searched, in vain as it turned out, for the goal which would allow them to win the tie on away goals.

Anything less than 100% on Wednesday will see Celtic walk a tightrope………

Just some simple and not so accurate math

    CPL. £20 mil

    Wanyama £12.5 mil

    Hooper £5 mil

That’s almost £40 mil brought in and with Van Dyck and Balde approx £5 mill gone out. So we’ve spent roughly 10% on new players? Without losing top talent, then this would be an acceptable amount to spend. Now that we have lost Vic and Hoops looking likely, then we better be looking to spend some decent money on decent talent.

Tis I, lurking furiously on the long commute.

Over 4 months here in adelaide now – took 3 months to get worrk which was scary.

Best thing is being able to walk around in Celtic gear with no hassles. Even managed to meet a fellow tim in a big store who was a couple of years sbove me at school.

Downside is CL kickoff times. 4am is no good to me. Need to get a petition to UEFA and get that sorted. Friday lunchtime would be perfect so I can watch in the pub.

Haven’t been able to listen to many of the folk tunes since getting here as it makes me too sad.

No, I was never slim shady.

I will indeed, a very good friend is Joe. Served me one or two pints over the years:) A great barman, don’t say I said that!

  4. Talking to my local Celtic-friendly bar owner this morning.

Was inquiring of developments in Belfast – revolting peasants and all that.

Showed him the photo of the flying horizontal orc who had been blasted by the water canon.

After he had stopped pissing himself laughing and had wiped away the tears he opined that a night in the cells and a good ‘doing’ would do(!) him the world of good.

He also thinks it is ridiculous that Celtic should be made to play 3 qualifying rounds.

He said -“It’s that c*** Platini!”

He’s a Milan fan and hates anything and anyone who has a connection to Juventus.

The Georgious Samaras Story..Part 1888..”Its The Final Contract..Doo Doo Doo Doo..Doo Doo Doo Doo..It’s The Final……………..”

Georgios Samaras Happy to Sign New Celtic Contract

Celtic striker Georgios Samaras wishes to undergo talks with the Scottish champions, as the Greek international tells reporters “I’d never say no to a new contract” according to Sky Sports.

The ex-Manchester City forward joined the Hoops back in 2008 (initially on loan) and since then he has managed 63 goals in his 218 appearances for the club. With their star striker Gary Hooper poised to leave the club, it seems unlikely that Celtic would want to let the 28 year-old leave any time soon.

Samaras only has one year remaining at his current contract with the Glasgow based club, which is why he is desperate for crunch talks.

“I enjoy my football here, I’m at a club where I feel well,” the Greek star told reporters.

“It was important to me to find an environment where I feel good because I’m away from my country [Greece], my family and friends. I need an environment that suits me and here I am. I’m not surprised how long I’ve been here. I always felt I’d be here a long time. I feel great at this club and that means everything to a footballer.”

The 28 year-old’s relationship with long-term serving manager Neil Lennon is also part of the reason he wishes to stay at Celtic Park for years to come.

“I have a great relationship with the manager and, if he wants me, I want him as well. I’m still young at 28 and I can see myself here for a few more years,” Georgios claimed.

Paul will soon write a new header or send in his bhoys to say spending money is anti Celtic

  7. belgian media mentioning a guy possibly going to Standard Liege – could surely be a replacement for Wanyama?

Nir Biton – a 21 year old 6’5” defensive midfielder, who has already a few full caps for Israel. Plays for FC Ashdod, Ambrose’s old club. I don’t know the player, but did a bit of research. he is 2 footed, with a good shot on him, and is absolutely massive. Additionally, he played a couple of games as a trialist for Man City last pre-season but they didn’t take things further. Like Wanyama, the guy has ‘epl’ written all over him. am sure he could be sold on for a very good profit. Man City normally know what it takes to be a top player, and they obviously spotted something. Belgian press has olympiacos also sniffing about. Surely our isareli/ashdod connection could swing a move towards Celtic? Wondered if anyone else knows the player? Seriously looks the real deal.

  14. Shady. Brighton. Is that near glenelg? I remember when I was there in 2006 it was the squaters arm that the celtic club was in. A guy from coatbridge owned it called alex and there was a big sign outside saying celtic park. And full of celtic stuff inside

Heard he sold it a few years ago. Don’t know where hoops go now. Maybe that 24 hotel in the city that I can’t remember it’s name Adelaide was a bit quiet for me

This is the final straw for me.I will cheer our teams in Europe.Scottish domestic fitba and the national team can GTF.Where’s my Ajax scarf?

@ScottishFA For all your corruption, this is something you cant whitewash!! http://t.co/9MV6zNyfwn

@celticfc as of today I will be cancelling my DD for my season ticket an will no longer attend corrupt football league HH

No further investigation says SFA “On the basis of the evidence they have seen from the Pinsent Mason findings” Corrupt to the core

I’m becoming increasingly more angry every day at my own club and it’s silence over the corruption

Celtic are harder on our own fans who stand at a game than we are on clubs who cheat us out of millions. Incredible.

Celtic FC says “ cheat us all you want, but don’t f****** dare do it while standing up out of your f****** seat”

If I wasn’t taking 2 excited teens to this weekends Celtic game I would of not f****** bothered after hearing this news. Celtic disgust me.

The SFA deciding not to investigate the CG and CW any further….sickening

Once again Celtic FC bend over and spread their ass cheeks for the SFA, and we all pay for the privilege too.

I’m actually relieved knowing the Brentford game this weekend will be my last ever Celtic game until the corruption is killed off 100%.

Whether, it’s all about the money or whether it’s because the same type of corrupt masonic types may also exist at Parkhead and elsewhere, I don’t know. Either way, it’s a disgrace and an affront to football fans.

You simply cannot have the governing body behaving in such a way and all the stakeholders condoning it.
