Confederated league gathers pace as Belarus bids to join

905

The momentum for a confederated regional league in Eastern Europe continues to gather pace with clubs from Belarus keen to join.  With a population of around 10m, Belarus is sandwiched between Russia, Ukraine, Poland and the Baltic states, but their league has been rendered uncompetitive by the domination of Bate Borisov, who are on their way to eight-in-a-row titles.

Bate, who are now Champions League regulars, have no opportunity to progress while the rest of the league do not have the resources to compete with them.  A regional league would solve all their problems.

Russian and Ukrainian clubs are aiming to have a confederated league in place by the start of 2014, with sponsors thought to be keen to step forward and underwrite whatever is necessary to smooth the way, but the Ukrainian FA suggest 2016 is a more viable date.

Scottish football stands to gain more from regionalisation than anywhere else on the planet. We need to have this debate before blindly stumbling into another Management of Decline while legislators in Minsk leave us behind!

Today is the last guaranteed posting date for CQN Annuals before Christmas, so if you haven’t ordered yet, this is your chance.

Many thanks for the tremendous support of the Annual in recent weeks.  We have shipped lots to Australia, Canada and USA, across various European and Asian countries, and to hundreds of towns and cities across Scotland, England and Ireland.  Even Ayrshire!

Last guaranteed date before Christmas. You can order the CQN Annual here!

If that post sounded like a defence of the zombies then I whole heartedly apologise!

Especially seeing as how they went out there way to attack a meeting arranged to oppose the new leglislation.

To be clear, my point is about the heavy handedness of the police escalating since the introduction of the bill. If it has caused a skirmish in Ibrox, then as sure as eggs is eggs, it will need to be balanced somehow inside Parkhead. Christine Graham says so

If you can’t see what happened at Ibrox tonight is a reflection of what has been going on in NI then you’re being, at best. naive.

  2. The Boy Jinky It still has to get flushed eventually :-)

Sipsini I tried but couldn’t get that low, though I did tell them that if they were wanting to be taken seriously they should toxophile and carry a big stick.

Moonbeams, I was saying it in a W.O.S accent, you are obviously using an Irish one :-)

  3. Ernie,

You’ve gone to a great deal of trouble, but go back even further for the original X as a sign of Christ. The first Christians used to greet each other with a +, the sign of the cross. For fear of persecution and their own safety this was changed to X. This suited all, since very few could read or write.

    Hail! Hail! and Happy Christmas.

P.S. I didn’t intend this to go so far when I pointed out the use of Xi.

  4. Ernie,

Until tonight, before your ‘watch with mother’ educational piece, I would guess that less than 1% of the population were aware that ‘X’ was Greek for Christ and that the use of ‘X’ in ‘Xmas’ by most folks was a secular development, or a lazy writers guide.

Perception is everything. Why remove ‘Christ’ from the widely regarded festival of ‘Christmas’?

    Hail! Hail!

Don’t know what happened at iPox tonight, but if there was trouble ,your assessment I think will be spot on.There are troubled times ahead .

Hopefully srathclydes finset wore their heavy steelies and broke out their largest batons in dealing with the zombie uprising at the bigot dome this evening.

It’s best to be careful when dealing with such vile scum.

My comments not aimed at well wishing more the theological debates around the rights or wrongs of DEC 25 Christmas celebrations that verge in to questionning beliefs – each to their own whatever you believe is my view..we are a broad church with many diverse beliefs which is why we are better than any other club.. I don’t particularly feel questioning beliefs (whatever they are) the best use of cqn

  10. Much as I detest the huns, I wouldn’t trust Plod as far as I can spit.

Tonight’s Chanel 4 news only reinforced my views.

Sevco are really just a horrible new club with the dead club’s horrible old support.

Over on hun media the blame is being put squarley on the shoulders of the police. It’s not like huns dont have a history for violence, circa everywhere they go…………..is it?

  16. SilenceChuckGreenAndTheBrittishMediaPropagandaMachine on

    surprise surprise…not a single mention…dirty fkin scum

  17. Hun sites saying a bit of trouble kicked off and plod were looking to lift a few specific targets. The Union Bears decided to walk out en-masse to shield the suspects and get them out. Plod then decided to lock the exits to prevent suspects from leaving. Some scuffles a few minor injuries etc. Some say plod went in to remove an offensive banner others say the Union Bears were singing “Super R*ngers” and were singing the line “We hate Celtic, Fenian Bas****s” and this prompted plods intervention.

  18. NatKnow - "We welcome the paper-chase..." on

    Ntasoolla –

They should be arrested – it’s offensive. They leave out “unrepentant”!

  19. When you need the people to buy in they cop out

    22 million raised

17 from private investors and the rest from the fans it’s not exactly fireworks money in 2012 or enough to cover the costs of Green getting to hear CL music at Ibrox anytime soon

Which makes you wonder about the fans shares part of this

It would be interesting to know the share percentage wealthy oldco fans like Mc Coist have in relation to the overall fans stake

It does seems this share issue is a flop at grassroots level if wealthy fans make up a large proportion of the overall fans stake

Maybe Sevconians are paying into Chucks medicine show but they are not buying into it…….?

Of course if disaster strikes again cue Walter Smith (in the background) coming to the rescue

It’s a tactic they have used before to great success before when the PLG experiment failed

Could it be Chucks just here to get them over some more bad times just like Craigy boy

Maybe The Cardigans back for plan B (post Chuck) just like before only this time its plan B +

  20. Yep that was funny ok, NatKnow. Quiet here tonight, I’ve had a long day and am feeling knackered so I’m Offski. Goodnight All & God Bless. HH

  21. Remember …. They are a newco with no history of violence ?

140 days old today and violence ??

    Who’d have thought

Jude, I wasnt there, but reading the main thread on hun media it appear that the polis simply waded in and battered the shite oota the onion bears and the bloo order for a bit of a baton practice.

    Seems quite reasonable to me.
