Confederated league gathers pace as Belarus bids to join

905

The momentum for a confederated regional league in Eastern Europe continues to gather pace with clubs from Belarus keen to join.  With a population of around 10m, Belarus is sandwiched between Russia, Ukraine, Poland and the Baltic states, but their league has been rendered uncompetitive by the domination of Bate Borisov, who are on their way to eight-in-a-row titles.

Bate, who are now Champions League regulars, have no opportunity to progress while the rest of the league do not have the resources to compete with them.  A regional league would solve all their problems.

Russian and Ukrainian clubs are aiming to have a confederated league in place by the start of 2014, with sponsors thought to be keen to step forward and underwrite whatever is necessary to smooth the way, but the Ukrainian FA suggest 2016 is a more viable date.

Scottish football stands to gain more from regionalisation than anywhere else on the planet. We need to have this debate before blindly stumbling into another Management of Decline while legislators in Minsk leave us behind!

Today is the last guaranteed posting date for CQN Annuals before Christmas, so if you haven’t ordered yet, this is your chance.

Many thanks for the tremendous support of the Annual in recent weeks.  We have shipped lots to Australia, Canada and USA, across various European and Asian countries, and to hundreds of towns and cities across Scotland, England and Ireland.  Even Ayrshire!

Last guaranteed date before Christmas. You can order the CQN Annual here!

  2. Rangers Football Club has raised half its target investment from fans, following the deadline for its share offer.

It had aimed to raise £10m of investments in the club from small-scale retail buyers of shares.

There was already a commitment to the major part of the share offer, with rich individuals and institutional investors signing up to at least £17m.

    Daily Record

So less than £5m from fans.

Institutional investors “signing up to at least £17m”

So have the institutions bought these shares or just signed up for them.

Anyway £20m will not get them very far.

Jude, I wasnt there, but reading the main thread on hun media it appear that the polis simply waded in and battered the shite oota the onion bears and the bloo order for a bit of a baton practice.

    Seems quite reasonable to me.

    ——————————————-

Substitute the onion bears and the bloo order for the Green Brigade and many here, me included, would be apoplectic with rage. If, IF, this is what went on, then the ragers have every right to be raging, imho. Calling this kind of behaviour by the polis ‘quite reasonable’ is low, even if it is the huns we’re speaking about here.

when did that bunch of animals ever tell the truth…im readin hun media now & there are a few suggestin sectarian songs.

if it was just the coppers being heavy handed – howcome we aint hearing nothing from any of the media outlets? surely they would out in force to condemn this action by the police – long b4 now – if they were so innocent. rememebr, this is the same mob that were throwing coins at rival fans last week.

no sympathy from me. NOT now; NOT ever.

  6. Rangers share issue a fabby dabby dozy success, exceeded Ally’s wildest expectations. He hopes to be allowed to spend it responsibly . . .

  7. Morning all!

What happened at the asbestos dome last night?

Polis with batons wading into the crowd?!

The msm seem strangely silent on the matter – only a very brief mention of a demonstration by the Boo Odour and Onion Berzz, against the possible naming rights to the midden.

    We demand to know!

via email: “I’m a ST holder in BF1, not affiliated with either group, and I thought I would give my account on the actions of the police tonight.

“The first I knew there was trouble was when I seen around 20-30 UB members running up the back of the section only to be followed by around 15 police who had a look of aggression in their eyes as if they wanted something to happen.

“As it transpired the UB started making their way back down the front of the section only to be met by a wall of police on the stairs pushing, shoving and manhandling people as they walked down the steps. This resulted in people falling over into the rows, causing a crush of people which could have potentially caused a major accident.

“I was one of the members who followed the UB lead out of the ground as I backed their stance, I’m in row J so I was further behind the initial trouble in the concourse so can’t comment on what happened there. However when I eventually made my way into the concourse I was met by around 30 police making a barricade around the food outlet and within their guard was an older UB member who was being cuffed by the police. Not 1 or 2 police but around 7 or 8. It was totally over the top and not needed at all.

“I made my way round the back of the police trying to get to the toilet however I was met by over-zealous police who were pushing me about, I’m 6ft2 so I stood my ground to a certain extent and eventually managed to push through to get to the toilet. Whilst in the toilet I heard the noise increase and there were songs directed at the police being aired. I quickly made my way back into the concourse.

“As I walked out I was subjected to more police brutality, both directed at myself and UB members. The UB lad I earlier mentioned was being held on the floor by 5 policemen with a further 2 standing over him. Totally unnecessary. He wasn’t fighting back before I went into the toilet and so I see no need for the brutality he faced. At this point I also seen another UB member in cuffs, the boy in question looked no older than 16-17 so having 3 policemen restraining him was totally over the top. A farce. Disgusting to see.

“There were around 200 people there protesting at the treatment these fans were facing however the police didn’t take to kindly to being videoed and started waving their truncheons at anyone in sight. I seen children much younger than myself, 12-15, being struck by the police and being pushed about by the police. As I was walking out calmly a policeman pushed me on my blind side and I moved slightly, I turned to ask him why and try to explain I wanted no trouble and I would make my way out quickly. I was then pushed into a wall and struck with a truncheon lightly to get me to hurry up. I felt this was way over the top. I’m lucky I was big enough, and heavy enough, not to be harmed too much from this brutality from the police however there was younger teenagers not as developed as myself who faced the same brutality. A 6ft5 policeman pushing a teenager to the ground as I was out the ground being one incident I remember. To make matters worse, as I was walking away the police charged fans on horses which prevented fans from walking on the pavement.”

    Good morning CQNers,

The Prime Minister has had to apologise this week for the Army, Secret service and a defunct (I like that word) RUC for collusion, but that was alright because it was in Northern Ireland and it was all the IRA’s fault in the first place.

But who’d have believed that within the same week he now has to investigate possible collusion in the Met Police, collusion in another police force and this time English, this is ‘exceptionally serious’ a government spokesperson has informed us. I wonder if there’ll be a public inquiry?

Kenny Shields has always struck me a solid guy and I do hope his evidence regarding Andrew Dallas stands up to scrutiny.

    googybhoy @ 06:57,

Wee bit of a confusing article on 5 Live’s Wake Up to Money.

i.e. They stated 22M was raised – 20M from institutional investors and 5M from fans.

However they said it was a sucsess.

From what I understand Rangers International, the holding company for RFC, aimed to raise 27M, 17M from institutional investors 10M from fans. Looks like they got 22M with the short fall of 5M due to the fans only taking up half their allocation.

This sounds fine to me, it suggests that they have enough cash to pay costs, original investements and profits, leaving Charlie and the boys sitting pretty leaving little to invest in the Club.

Will be good to get the wise heids views on it.

apparently the plebs attacked the glue bears because rangers scored a second goal 7 they thought that to be an unfair advantage to the “Super Sevco” & with a wink wink nudge nudge toward the referee to send of lee wallace before they started beating a 15 yr old girl with their batons. suddenly the sevco fans held up their candles & began singin hymn’s & thats when the police began swingin their truncheon’s at everything that move.

pray service today at the gates of ibrox for the super sevco mole, who apparently felt the brunt of the police brutality & tragically lost his life.

HELP SAVE A LIFE THIS CHRISTMAS FOR £3

I am begging you to give this 5 minutes of your time!

If I told you you could potentially prevent someone from dying this Christmas for £3 I’m sure you would give me that £3.

I have just read about a guy who froze to death last week. The man was homeless and didn’t want to take advantage of hostels. Like many homeless some of the hostels are just too dangerous and too rough and the harsh reality is they would rather take their chance sleeping on the street.

There are three vital areas that lose heat in the body and suffer through inadequate protection. The head the feet and the hands. With that in mind I wondered just how much it would take to fully kit out 50 of Glasgows genuine Homeless with protection for these 3 areas. £1 per area. Just £3 per person!!!!

I know that it’s a couple of weeks before Christmas and money is tight and everyone is thinking of other things. Today I did some research and found out that most Homeless people have a bigger smile and are more appreciative when they receive these items than when they get food, drink or money. The simple fact is a wooly hat, gloves and a pair of thick socks are lasting effects whereas the other things are sporadic. These are items you know will make a difference.

I am giving myself one week to organise donations of £3 from 50 people. If you have 2 in your home who want to donate then great we get there even quicker. I intend to hook up with a charity from Glasgow who deal with the city’s Homeless on daily basis. If all goes to plan we will go out with them and distribute the items just before Christmas. If anyone wanted to join in on that they would be more than welcome.

I am hoping that I can do this on Facebook alone. I know people are always asking for money these days but this is Christmas. This is someone who will potentially be freezing to death whilst we are sitting watching festive tele with a nice drink in a nice warm house surrounded by our loving families. Compare that with what one of Glasgows Homeless will be doing.

If you can help in any way please just reply to me by PM or even just say “yes” in a comment and I will PM you how to transfer the £3. I would really appreciate it if you could share this on your Facebook page.

BE A LIFESAVER THIS CHRISTMAS FRIENDS.

It’s not going to be fun for those on the streets but we could at least make them a little safer from the cold winter.

    Thanks

    Nick

  20. Morning from a crisp Kinross.

Just heard C Green on 5 Live. Am intrigued by the 17m from city funds – what’s in it for them?

Football shares have a dreadful record – Sevco will not be near European dosh for years – why get involved?

  23. Is it not funny that the £17m from investors has been banded about for a long time, almost as if they knew from the start that £17m of non-fans shares would be bought……as some folk have commented could this have been a transfer of the original shares to original investors. One things that sticks one me is Greens comments about having no ‘external’ debts, could this £17m of shares have been an internal debt for shares deal for the original investors, sounds like the kind of figures banded about that it would have taken to buy up the New Rangers, pay off football debts, running costs to now etc……maybe i’m wrong

  24. If you want to know how the institutional investors are going to make money here, it’s worth googling about AIM market makers and how they manipulate the spread (the buy and sell price of the shares).

  25. Steinreignedsupreme

  26. Morning Celts,

Re the police action against the zombies, I’m uncomfortable with it as I’m positive that there will be balancing action against the Green Brigade and it’ll happen soon.

Perhaps the one thing in our favour is that the main Celtic support are backing the GB and will not tolerate brutal behaviour by the Glasgow police.

I’d urge my fellow supporters to be vigilant and squeaky clean (as always) and not give our law enforcers cause to act in the manner they did last night.

Chuckles learned very quickly that whatever he says will go unchallenged in the media. Like Whyte, the Murrays, King, Johnson, the Smiths and McCoist – they just open their mouths and let the media attempt to give credibility to their nonsense regardless of how inflammatory or contradictory it is.
