Confederated league gathers pace as Belarus bids to join

905

The momentum for a confederated regional league in Eastern Europe continues to gather pace with clubs from Belarus keen to join.  With a population of around 10m, Belarus is sandwiched between Russia, Ukraine, Poland and the Baltic states, but their league has been rendered uncompetitive by the domination of Bate Borisov, who are on their way to eight-in-a-row titles.

Bate, who are now Champions League regulars, have no opportunity to progress while the rest of the league do not have the resources to compete with them.  A regional league would solve all their problems.

Russian and Ukrainian clubs are aiming to have a confederated league in place by the start of 2014, with sponsors thought to be keen to step forward and underwrite whatever is necessary to smooth the way, but the Ukrainian FA suggest 2016 is a more viable date.

Scottish football stands to gain more from regionalisation than anywhere else on the planet. We need to have this debate before blindly stumbling into another Management of Decline while legislators in Minsk leave us behind!

Today is the last guaranteed posting date for CQN Annuals before Christmas, so if you haven’t ordered yet, this is your chance.

Many thanks for the tremendous support of the Annual in recent weeks.  We have shipped lots to Australia, Canada and USA, across various European and Asian countries, and to hundreds of towns and cities across Scotland, England and Ireland.  Even Ayrshire!

Last guaranteed date before Christmas. You can order the CQN Annual here!

“No. Apart from the old cliche about a returning player being like a new signing.”

    Same here. Realistic at least.

  2. Starry,

back up the road again, yes. Gotta job at the Death Star tomorrow (!), and Inverness on Friday, Mayans permitting…

Gotta feeling it’ll be a German team, hoping for it actually. Plenty of tickets to go round, and maybe a half-decent chance of progress?

    Work permitting will be there…

  3. According to the prospectus, the owners expect to raise £24.5m through the stock market flotation, with an initial £5.5m of which would be invested in “upgrades to Ibrox stadium”. During Tuesday’s programme, Mr Green said it would include the creation of more bars in the stadium, with a view to improving the “fan experience”.

Yep, thats exactly what the Huns need. Mair drink at their games…..!

  5. Steinreignedsupreme it is all in Celtic’s hands.

None of our first choice players can give any reason to leave other than money.

Celtic can have no reason to sell other than money.

    It’s up to Celtic.

Any player who leaves now would have difficulty being accepted by the football fans of his next club. If a player went to an EPL club outside the big six, the fans of that club would take the view that he was using them as a stepping stone. As would the players.

On that basis I’m not concerned about rumoured departures.

If the ghuy that phoned ssb and gave Dawyll pelters last night lurks or posts on here I want to shake your hand, the final point about 3 different associations recognising Sevco as being the huns by Dawyll was shot down by our mhan saying that the 3 associations are Scottish and dont want trouble was a belter,I felt myself willing the caller to make that his answer to King and the bhoy did citing the Montrose programme fiasco as evidence,I have to say SSB was worth listening to for that call alone and the caller who then followed was also worth the entrance fee,the main call though should be youtubed,it was that good and I loved how the station didnt allow Dawyll a comeback because they knew the caller was right.

    Well done that bhoy.

Whither the cash strapped scrofulous hillbillies, and their scrofulous cash strapped cuzz, the day?

  9. If there’s any lurking fans of The Rangers that bought shares. The club has your money now and you may as well take your 10% profit, it won’t affect them. Shares are not a thing to be sentimental over.

  11. From the LSE press release-

“it is the intention of the Directors and the manager for the Club to return to top level football as soon as possible”

That’s not what Charlie has been spouting to the media, quite the opposite in fact.

I’m not expecting any departures in January. I can’t say I’m remotely concerned about any of our first-team squad leaving.

Wee one wants the 125th anniversary jersey with her name and no 21 on the back.

Any sports chains doing a cheaper deal please?

There are a lot of conflicting reports. It seems as though there were a lot of offers to help, including Celtic’s.

As far as I can tell, the official hospital view is that an anonymous, but regular, benefactor has replaced the presents. That would suggest that both Celtic and Lord Sugar offered to do so but someone else beat them to it.

The main thing is, of course, that we offered to help and may have contributed in other ways.

  15. Morning CQNer’s

I’m not on to cause any trouble or make negative points about our club in any shape or form. Not today.

What I would like to say is that – I’m sitting underneath the letter-box waiting for my – CQN Annual. I’m not supposed to know about this so, I can only hope that my wife(who can’t stand football) dizny read this :o)

I’m waiting for the CQN annual and then it’s – off oot to the But ‘n’ Ben with close family and in-laws & close friends. It’s been a difficult and very sad year away from – planet Celtic. That’s where the real issue’s have had to be dealt with.

I don’t know if I’ll be personally secure with the close family as – they read some of my bunkum on here so, tin-helmet will be the attire :o)

As for the Champions League Draw – Celtic will give any of the teams a bloody nose at Celtic Park and then take it from there.

Merry Christmas to – Paul 67

Excellent post which is why Charles Green is destined to eclipse Craig Whyte…. And we haven’t heard the last of him either IMO.

Between them Green and Whyte have acted like a pair of predatory vultures feasting on the carcas of a dead club… Picking away at the last bits of meat before it finally rots in to the ground. Bewildering that any Hun fan (old or new) would assist in this process.

  17. I think this share issue has been a roaring success. For us. My only gripe is more institutional investors did not invest.

These guys want a return. They want their money back with interest. They want dividends.

The sort of things that inhibit feeding the insatiable need of the Ibrox hordes for unaffordable player bling. You can learn all you need to know about the future by the past. We all know what happens when Rangers are not competitive.

Celtic have a vast structural advantage over Rangers. A vastly superior playing squad, one which is young and its value increasing with every game. We have an excellent young manager who breathes the club. We have a World Class scouting network. A World Class training facility that is being used to produce talent.

They are lagging behind in every possible department and the Wanyama (that is my slang for £22m) they have just raised will go nowhere near bridging the gap.

They have a 1st division / lower SPL attack. 1st Division midfield and a 3rd Division defence. They have a tactically inept manager and absolutely no scouting network. yes you read that, NONE. Scouting is done by the coaching staff.

A museum, a bar and the deeds to a Car Park are not going to sort things when they start going up the leagues. As soon as they return to the top flight their fans, bloated on the supremacy being fed to them by Green and Co regarding World Records etc will expect a title win season 1.

They won’t get a title win season 1 and when that doesn’t happen they will disappear like snow off a dyke.

The only way to keep them paying their money is to almost bankrupt themselves attempting to assemble a squad, in one close season, that would be able to push Celtic with a wage bill close to 2 and a half times theirs.

The best thing Green can do is take his profit and run now. It is all downhill from here and it has hardly been a bed of roses up till now.

The US Constitution demonstrates the folly of investing a concoction of secular rules with the authority of holy writ.Elegantly written it may be but it was designed for a society and an age which have long since vanished. Today its main purpose is to frustrate reform eg gun control, universal health care, financial regulation . As such it’s the last refuge of wealthy vested interests.

Sir I am of the opinion America is paralysed by guns

Over the years we have seen gun atrocity after gun atrocity and yet the most powerful country in the world is powerless to take them off its streets

A set of concrete rules set down by men who lived in a time of home based armed struggle against its own citizens and a past imperial force looks like a snare from which there is no escape for today’s America

Living in a world where there are no guns in day to day society might be a pipe dream but in my opinion its one worth striving for.

Back here in the UK (under the crown) I must say the laws are more flexible and able to bend and flow with the times. A modern parliamentary democracy with its ability to change laws in a timescale that is almost at the speed of light is far more useful than impossible constitutional change weighed down by wild west politics based on set of ancient rights that today in the light of what happened at Newtown look like massive folly

I have respect for America and the good things it has achieved for this world but when I see the slaughter of the innocents regularly on my TV and the access to these weapons of homegrown mass destruction is still a matter of debate is it no wonder a few of us despair.

Your welcome to your nightmare if you cant dream of something better

The words in this song could so easily be No Guns in Americaif you all wanted it enough

Anyone furra wee quiz? Only one of these points is valid. The other is BS. See if you can spot the BS

    1)From the MSM

Rangers offer to sell 10 million quid of shares to the fans who buy less than half. An overwhelming success says fat sally and the msm.

    2) From someone at TSFM

Since the old rangers is still in administration at this very moment, why didn’t the new shiny sevco face a 10 point penalty at the start of the season if sevco is rangers???

  26. “Religion makes only one direct and obvious appearance in the original Constitution that seems to point to a desire for some degree of religious freedom. That appearance is in Article 6, at the end of the third clause:

‘[N]o religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.'”

The US constitution therefore is very clear that religion has no place in US public life.

US courts refuse to enforce libel awards made in the UK because they view our libel laws as shut up laws for the benefit of the rich.

The furore over health care was because the US government wanted to legislate to force citizens to buy health insurance from private companies. The list of whom was to be decided by … Nice contract if you can get it.

Narrow anti-Americanism is just inverted patriotism, the last refuge of …..

  27. The US Consitution is so great and good that it protected the slave trade also it protects the right of the people to keep and bear arms. No mention of bullets, so ban the sale of bullets

  28. Nah….this is not yer bog standard average share issue : this is a scam and a moneylaundering device. Shill a few emotional rubes, easy money. Fire some big cash (whatever paper form…whatever currency….) in for shares, sell quick, even money, maybe a wee loss, maybe even a lucky dividend. Cadh now squeaky clean. Do with it as you wish.
